On the road to Mulden

User Image

Valelldia came out of her caravan and greeted her fellow travelers, "It is time to go. I think the caravan is in need of supplies and there is a small town named Mulden just outside of Sheulan. We shall head there for now. This town is rumored to be cursed. None of the inhabitants will see your Fortunettes or yourselves for the magic you have. They will see you as normal humans, with some eccentric qualities but non-the-less us being new will frighten them. It is best we keep our guards up along the way."

Valelldia just made the leaving announcement today although the caravan has been preparing for the journey for a while. It seems our gypsy roots has grown to love Sheulan as many of the Fortunettes have be bourn there. There are many loving memories to leave behind and it even got to the point where some semi-permanent shelters have been built. Many people have left the caravan for a bit leaving only Valelldia for a long time. But now, everyone's back with new faces to welcome. The wagons are nearly packed up and the shelters will be left behind.

Valelldia has been back from her vision quest for a while. When she came back, more started happening and it seems change is a current constant for the caravan. The momentum dosn't feel like it will stop anytime soon.

Many strange things have been happening. Valelldia seems tired recently and more weary to grow a Fortunette but at the same time, pushy to have them grow. Some fellow caravaners heard Valelldia speak her worry of stagnate insanity common in Fortunette animals who havn't grown for a year. Many of the animals seem restless and worried. It is hard to keep them in order. The darklings, however seem normal for the most part. A couple are still dealing with their new bodies as well as a slightly darker personality.

Valelldia holds one last circle at Sheulan woods before leaving. Everyone is gathered to talk and share their times and memories of the woods as well as speculation of what will happen. There is a bitter-sweet mood in the air.

Highlights and happenings

We have left Shuelan and came across two mysterious wanderers. Val has agreed to take them in for the night but is using some magic to affect the way they see the Fortunettes wink

Val had cast a glamour spell to hide the Fortunettes true forms from the travelers. Something went wrong, however and these are the negative effects happening tonight. Roleplay them as you will.
These people are the only ones who see this:
Aisrhan A colorful snake flying in the air
Pierre A wolf comming our direction
Rojiza A fairy buzzing around her, trying to lead her away
Anezka A shadowy figure
Stefan The same wolf Pierre sees
Van Keppit as a zombie
Metexi a pond nearby
Kale The fire keeps getting larger
Dakota Fish flying throughout the air

Silver listened to Val's announcement and headed back to her wagon. Once inside she checked on Aisrhan who was sleeping in the new basket-bed Silver had woven for her. Her head was resting on the pillow with her thumb in her mouth and her tail was slightly hanging over the edge of the basket, twitching every now and then. The bed was sturdy, but Silver would need to make a new one once Aisrhan grew out of it. She hoped that by then she would have a permanent bed built into the wagon for her. Silver smiled and walked back outside to gather her things for the journey. After collecting some blankets that had been drying in the sun and grabbing any other items she could find that had been left outside, Silver placed the things neatly in the wagon, making sure everything was secure for the trip to Mulden.

Aisrhan stirred in her basket, apparently having dream. Almost an instant later she began to cry, a loud harsh scream escaping her tiny lips as Silver ran to the basket. She touched her shoulder lightly and spoke to her softly. "Wake up sweetie. Ais, wake up. C'mon, that's my girl." Silver picked her up and cradled her in her arms. Aisrhan's eyes fluttered open sleepily, but she had stopped crying, apparently as if nothing had happened. Silver rocked her back and forth, patting her on the back, comforting her. "There ya go sweetie. I wish I knew why you were having these horrible dreams..." Aisrhan wrapped her tail around Silver's waist, something she had started to do, Silver guessed, because it was comforting, as she had once habitually wrapped herself around Silver's wrist when she was a small snake. Aisrhan drifted in and out of sleep in Silver's arms for a few minutes as Silver sat on the bed with her. Eventually she woke up completely and Silver decided it was time to go to the campfire to join the others. She stood up with Aisrhan and closed all the windows.
Aisrhan often made odd little noises that Silver still hadn't grown accustomed to. They usually sounded somewhere between a hiss and a growl, or even a dry rhaspy giggle, and though Silver couldn't quite figure out why she made some of those noises, she was so used to her little snake not making any sound at all that she thought they were all simply adorable. That odd little giggle was the sound she was making as Silver closed up the wagon and walked toward the campfire.

Silver arrived at the fire and sat down on the ground with Aisrhan. Aisrhan's tail remained wrapped around Silver's waist and her little arms hugged Silver's neck as she warily looked around at the shadows behind them. No one was here yet, so Silver picked up the flute that she always carried with her. She knew Aisrhan wouldn't fall, so she simply wrapped her arms around the snake child to play. She played a lively tune, one that at once made Aisrhan giggle. Silver smiled. "You like that one, do ya?" she said to Aisrhan. She continued to play as they waited for the others to arrive.

Leshya'e had been sitting on the steps of Varekai as Val made her announcement. She smiled and stood up, entering her wagon and walking back to the bed that she now shared with Anezka. "Hey Ani...we're going to be going from here soon" She sat down and stroked Ani's soft ears. When Anezka finally fell asleep for her nap, Lesh went about packing up some things in and around the wagon, securing items that could be damaged during travel.

Yuka strokes Mitexi's feathered head, supporting her under one arm and also with the fluffy tip of her large white tail. Sporting a flowy dress, Yuka thought to dress as best she could to fit in here, with the real gypsies. Oh, what an adventure, indeed!

Peeking out of Rhythmique, she giggles to herself nervously. They're going to be moving soon! Catching on to what everyone else was doing, she quickly does the same, tidying up around the wagon before emerging completely. White fur sticks out a lot around here, but she does her best to sneak in around the fire with her feather's companion.

First to be seen by the company of the campfire circle is Kale, who's furry red form scampers excitedly towards them. Soon though, he stops and takes a warry eye to the inhabitants, checking for anyone who's scent might be displeasing or unnerving to him. Marissa follows soon after, Aryel the banya latched tightly to her shoulder. She is dressed in blues and blacks, for both the mourning of leaving Sheulan Woods and the hope of finding a new paradise. Kale, she knows, is still oblivious to the fact that they are leaving, not comprehending the ways of the gypsie people to whom he has been born into. He wags his tail happily at her, and she scoops him up gently. Aryel chatters quietly.

Caroline had listened to Val's announcement while sitting on the steps to her own wagon, her beloved Mountain Air. Rojiza was inside, safe and asleep. She watches the other gypsies tidy up their wagons. She shrugs noncomittally and picks up the few things she has outside her wagon. She puts them in her semi-proper place inside--her wagon is rather cluttered, but homey. Besides, Caroline knows where everything is, despite the messy state of things.

She sits on her steps again, waving away mosquitos and other unwanted guests. She wonders for the thousandth time what Rojiza will look like as a baby. She looks down at her own arms, trying to picture herself cradling an infant. She yawns and stretches her arms upward toward the starry night sky, hazy with smoke from the campfire. Caroline lets her gaze follow the smoke downward to the fire, staring into its depths.

She blinks, realizes she's exhausted, and goes inside with a rustle of her skirt and a click of her beads. She shuts the door with a soft clunk, trying not to wake her precious daughter.

The forest is silent as everyone finished up packing. Val's wagon is rustling and bustling with noise for she seems to have settled down the most here. She exits The Whistle Stick shop and brings a basket full of items she has gathered from trades. It seems Val has gathered up quite a hoard. She sits down by the fire nodding at Kale, Marissa, Yuka, Mitexi, Silver and Aisrhan.

"This is a basket of things in which I don't think I need. I wanted you to each have an item of your choice and leave it around that large tree that has given our campsite some wonderful shade. But if you want to leave something of yours, that is fine as well." There were all sorts of old jewelry in the basket, every kind you could imagine. Val picked up a large gold necklace with a amythest pendant. She then passed around the basket.

"When you leave something, choose something that shows your appreciation for your time here. And give thanks to the land."

Silver rummaged through the basket looking for something. As her hands fell upon a small golden pin the shape of a leaf, her thoughts immediately strayed to the large tree in the center of the forest. "Ah, this will do nicely", she said as she pulled the pin from the basket. It's detailed stem and veins glinted the firelight. Silver smiled and passed the basket on.

|Bah, bored.|

Caroline tosses and turns in her bunk, restless in the warm night air and unable to sleep. She lights the taper again and pulls out a book. After a few moments of trying to read, she finally puts it aside and opens the door to let cooler air in. Noticing the gathering around the fire, she hastily throws on a skirt and blouse and walks toward the fire, leaving the door to Mountain Air open for circulation.
"What's all this?" She asks quietly, her accent a mixture of English and Spanish. All the lilt of the English with the gentle lisp of the Spanish.

Silver smiled at Caroline. "Glad you could join us." She handed the basket to her, explaining what they were doing. "Val has asked that we thank the land by leaving something behind that reminds us of our time here. She said we could pick an item from this basket of jewelry she no longer needs, or we could pick something of our own to leave at that large tree as thanks." Silver pointed to a fairly large tree near the gypsy camp. It was one whose shade had been greatly appreciated during those warm and muggy summer days. "See? I've chosen this because it reminded me of Aisrhan's quest", Silver said as she held out the pin for Caroline to see in the light of the fire.

((Late reply- I've been not in the best state the past few days... so apologies there.))

Em had missed the announcement- she'd been taking Pierre through the forest, walking in the darkness with the infant strapped to her front in a protective sling. They were on the outskirts of the Sheulan, and she knew they'd soon be moving on- this was her way of saying goodbye to these woods, and giving Pierre his last good look at them. She caught only Silver's last words, as she came across the gypsies, huddled about a basket.

She tipped back the hood of her cloak and inclined her head, smiling at the women. "Good Stars," she said, greeting them in a manner of which they'd be accustomed.

Val tipped her head in greeting and left the basket for people to take if needed. She took the amythest pendant and hung it on the tree closest to The Whistly Sticks shop. She stayed a moment breathing in the night air one last time.

"I will leave this basket here for whoever else wants to make an offering, I am going to pack a few last things and head to bed. We shall be leaving in the morning." She smiled and went to her wagon excaping to dream.

Leshya'e made her way to the basket, having heard the instructions from Val from a distance. Searching through the basket she found a small pouch. She opened it up and out came a small pendant on a leather cord. "Perfect..." She tucked the pouch into her pocket and walked over to the tree, hanging the necklace on a low-hanging branch. "Reminiscent of Anezka's origin...it's perfect"

Heading back to Varekai, Lesh picked up Anezka and headed back to the tree. Standing infront of the necklace, Lesh lifted Anezka's hand to the necklace. "Good-bye Shuelan...we shall return...someday". Anezka smiled and babbled, "Bagh Shoo...tumday"
