She chose to go when the sun was still out and bright and warm. For once the pink haired lab assistant was no accompanied by her icy Raeven nor the tiny dragonette that had become her new charge.

No...

She wished to be.. alone for this. With a small sigh she looked down at the familiar stones, hands tightning around the bouquet she had carefully chosen. It was one full of vibrant red Cyclamens, Roses, dotted with a few pink Carnations wtih sprigs of green leaves. Very carefully she crouched down, reaching out to place the flowers gently between two mounds, resting against the glassy smooth quarts slab.

Her eyes scanned the words etched in stone even though she knew what it said by heart, lips moving slightly though without sound as she read it to herself.

'Rosalyn and Jacob Star
1960-2002 : 1963-2002
In loving memory'

The grave was a little plain but at the time Cody must not have known what to put on it... it'd been a shock to them all. Chloe gave a small sigh, resting her chin on her knees as she watched the wind cause a petal from a rose loosen and scutter away over the grass.

When her eyes followed the rose petal, her eyes rose and just a distance away of twelve yards through the twany grass was a young familiar body lying amongst the graves. It was hard to see between the graveheads, but Chloe knew that there was someone there. She could see the sneakers and the baggy jeans...lying down...not moving...?

With a small start she stood up, hand coming to her mouth even as she began hurrying toward the figure. "H-Hello?! Are you alright?" Her footsteps made a pleasent thmpthmp sound in the grass as she ran breathless, even more allarmed as she drew closer.

Familiar indeed...

"I-I-I-Isi?!"

The boy was lying beside a grave, stretched out alongside it as if he were lying beside it during a warm afternoon picnic when he had fallen asleep under the warm rays of the sun. His brown and white haired head was lying on his arm which still had a couple flowers gripped tightly in his fingers and his arm curled near his chest. Hearing the voice, the crippled boy stirred and groggily looked at the grave in bewilderment.

"I'm alright..." he told the grave groggily, "How are y..." Then the boy noticed Chloe's shadow falling upon him and he turned his grey eyes up to look at her in shock. His face went through a series of emotions. From shock to confusion, to excitement, to embarrassment, and finally to a tired sad smile.

"Good afternoon, Chloe," the boy grinned up at her, shifting softly upon the soft grass so he could raise himself up onto his elbows. The flowers clutched in his grip seemed to loll their heads up at Chloe and the sniff the air for her scent. "What are you doing here?"

Previous worry and concern vanished in a somber moment as he asked her why she was here. She stood in front of him, hands hanging by her sides as she glanced of to the side. "Oh... visiting.." She looked down at the ground rather back at the boy's face, her voice softening.

"My parents. A-And you...?" Her voice became gentle with an almost weariy quality to it. She knew what it was like to come to a place like this.. to spend any amount of time mourning. "V-Visiting also..?"

She crouched down beside him, one hand reaching out for his ankle in a silent form of comfort. A touch that said 'Me too...'

Isi had known that Chloe had lost her parents, but now it seemed a whole lot more real. Watching her carefully with his grey eyes, the crippled boy smiled sadly at her and he said with a big grin that beguiled his actual feelings of worry and grief, "Yes. I thought that it was such a nice day for a picnic that I came here to spend it with my parents." Then leaning forward to her and placing his hand on the side of his mouth as if it were a secret, Isi whispered, "Besides, they've been bugging me for a while. You know those parents, as soon as they realize that you're growing up they just can't seem to leave you alone for a minute."

Chuckling, Isi leaned up all the way and he placed his hand comfortingly upon Chloe's as it rested upon his ankle, "Would you like to invite your parents to join our picnic? I mean, if you haven't anything else to do..."

She blinked in surprise at his words, unable to keep the smile from tilting the corners of her mouth upward just slightly. "A-A picnic... th-that would be.. n-nice." She looked up, the gravestones of her parents were only one row down and three away. "I-I'm sure th-they'd like to meet s-someone as nice as you."

Chloe took a breath and paused, feeling a little silly and yet.. not at all. Because she was with someone else who understood the need to play such a cruel game of pretend. "M-Mom... Dad.." She stood up and looked into the air, imagining them standing there. "Th-This is Isi.. h-he has a Raeven f-from where I work."

She sat down fully in the grass now, leaning back and spreading out a little, much like Isi. To enjoy the sun.. the company.. and the memories. "I'm afraid w-we didn't bring anything t-to eat.."

The boy bowed his head at the direction of where Chloe's parents were indicated. Smiling at the air, he reached out an arm and shook hands with them each in turn, "Hello, Mrs. Star, Mr. Star. Nice to meet you! I'm sorry, I must seem rude just sitting here and everything, but I can't really get up. No, no it's not because I'm lazy. I just don't have good legs. You have a very talented and kind daughter, you know," Isi said, talking to them as if they were really there. Then, turning to reach behind the graves, Isi smiled at Chloe and pulled out a backpack.

"No need to worry, Chloe," the cripple boy said happily, "Mum made a lot of sandwiches, just in case. She thinks that I have a growing appetite so she makes four times as much food that I can eat. I'm sure there's enough for everyone." Reaching his hand into th backpack, he dug around for a moment before bringing out a sandwich and giving it to her.

It was almost painful, the small cherade. But she went through it every time she visited, or she needed someone to talk to about things she couldn't bring up to the people who were fast becoming her good friends. She gave a small bow of politeness and greeting toward the gravestones of Isi's parents. "I-It's n-nice to meet you."

She gave a small startle and flush as he complimented her, looking down shyly. "O-Oh-" She gave another start as a sandwich was offered. Timidly she reached out to take it, looking at the bread. She could smell something vaugly nut-like.

"O-Oh.. th-thank you. Wh-What kind is it?" She lifted a corner to peek at the contents.

The silent gravestones seemed to smile at Chloe approvingly in the warm sunlight of the chilly day.

"It's marshmellow and nutella!" announced the boy as he unwrapped his own sandwhich and dug into it, "I hope it's not too weird for you. Not many people eat it, but I happen to think it's delicious! In case you don't like them, I think I packed peanut butter and jelly somewhere in here...Oh, my parents say it's wonderful to meet you too. They say that they like your hair." The boy reached into the backpack and peered into it curiously, searching out the depths for something different.

Chloe looked down at the sandwitch with an almost startled expression. Upon seeing the marshmallows dotting the pastey nutella a memory had flickered on and played out at the back of her mind.

"O-Oh. Isi."

The name was said with clarity, not a question, not really even a statement. She looked up at the boy and remembered. He had been smaller then, but he'd been as cheerful and kind. A small smile lit her face as she sat down beside him, taking a bite of the sandwich. She chewed, swallowed.

"N-No.. I like this. I-I've only had it once before, th-though.. wh-when..." She set the sandwich on her knee. Talking about that place and that time would always be a bit painful. "When I l-lost my parents. I w-was very sad... b-but a boy made me feel b-better."

She hoped he would remember too.

"I know how you feel," replied the boy looking up from his backpack on a failed attempt to find another sandwhich. When he heard her say it was alright, Isi nodded and her and began to unwrap his own. For all she could see, it didn't look like he got the insinuation and he continued on cheerily, "When I was at the home, I had to cheer up a lot of new younglings. I know I was younger than a lot, but...Oh well. I distinctly remember this one girl though, who never seemed to smile. I always gave her one of these sandwhiches."

Isi then looked at the sandwich he had finished unwrapping and he stared at it as if trying to remember something. Then he shrugged and bit into it, chewing it over and muling over his thoughts at the same time. "I hoped, whenever I gave her a sandwich, that maybe she could get the taste of tears out of her mouth. She didn't stay there very long though. Just long enough to leave me a few faded memories." Isi sounded distant and worried as he said that, not acting like himself.

Then he screwed his mouth into a frown and chewed again, "For the life of me I can't remember what her name was."

She smiled inwardly. She -was- much older now, and had pink hair. She took a bite of the sandwhich and smiled at the comforting taste. "Thank you for the sandwhich. It tastes good." She shuffled so that she could sit beside him, shrugging a little out of her labcoat as the day and sun were warm enough to keep her content. She even tugged the scarf off of her neck and sighed, looking up at the sky.

"It's a-almost been four years." She watched a particular puffy splotch of clouds wander by in the shape of a rabbit. "For me, I m-mean."

"Four years since what?" asked Isi as he finished swallowing another huge bite of his sandwich. He was half way done with it by now. Licking the smudges of nutella off the edges of his mouth, the boy grinned curiously at Chloe as she made herself more comfortable. That was good, he thought, that she was able to be more comfortable around him. It made him feel victorious in a way and when he took another bite of his sandwich, it tasted a bit sweeter.

"Since we've met." She smiled and finally lay back in the grass, smelling the sweet, green earth and nutella. She closed her eyes and gave out a soft sigh. "I r-r-remember I felt so sad a-a-a-a-and alone."

She tilted her head to the side, looking at the gravestones of Isi's parents. "Y-Y-Your son is a w-wonderful person. He's k-kind, and v-very thoughtful. A-A very big heart." She smiled.

"P-Please say you remember a girl w-w-with brown hair crying in the Bellarin orphanage.."
