User Image Things had changed, and they changed quickly. Audi had been loud before, trying to show her worth in this pack. Now, it seemed pointless. There was no point in shining when no one bared witness. And, really, the only approval she wanted was from Raja. That had been her only wish for a long time. Now...? All she wanted was for her alpha to actually come back.

It wasn't to say she never saw Raja. She did. Daily, usually. But it was brief, and any attempt to talk to her were responded with 'I'm busy' or 'Another time, Audi'. Another time...? WHAT other time? At the rate things were going, she doubted there was much time left. The whispers amongst her pack, and hell, among other wolves, too, did not fall on deaf ears.

So, Phantom had had a daughter...

A daughter that was following in his footsteps as if she was 'the Ghost' himself. Word had it she already had a group of females following her every move. Creepy ones, it seemed. Farfalla had wailed about them upon her return, saying their number was three and their looks indentical. They spoke as if they were one wolf, and attacked with the same goal in mind.

"How can this happen?" Audi asked her reflection, staring at the small bed of water. It was amazing a place such as the Black Forest managed to have a lake that looked halfway decent. "Raja is suppose to be the strongest..."

Sosay wasn't sure if he was more or less insane for being well aware he was insane. The truly crazy seemed to be those unaware of it. Like Phantom. He had never viewed himself as abnormal, but rather everyone else as wrong.

Sosay had came to a conclusion it didn't matter anymore. He was dead. All was well. And then... Then he'd heard talk of that damned spawn. He both cursed the grave of his long-dead enemy and thanked the sun and moon themselves that the one who took his place looked exactly like him. She shouldn't be hard to locate. It was just a matter of killing her while she was young...

Something that would be all too easy if he didn't have so much else to worry about. Mainly, Audi. It was always Audi.

Silently, the beta approached the object of his desires, so to speak. "There's always someone better. Didn't Sashta teach you that? It's dangerous to let one wolf become your whole world..."

Learning of the 'Arcane Circle' hadn't shocked Audi. Having dealt with Phantom, it seemed only natural to her there'd be an entire group of 'crazys', as Raja had dubbed them, that would band together. Strength in numbers, right? If Phantom had followed that rule he'd probably still be alive.

Learning Sosay had been a spy hadn't made her eyes widen any, either. The wolf was sneaky, sly, good at getting information and good at telling stories and making others believe them.

Yes, indeed. The only thing that had surprised her even the slighest bit is he'd never told her...

She gazed at the male. Frowning, her head turned the other way. "Go away."

Go away? Was that all?

Go away. Go away. Did she really feel that would work with him? She'd said so much more, and none of that had shaken him. Surely, he wasn't going to listen now. Certainly not to a simple 'go away'.

"I'm telling you from experience," his slick voice carried on. The fact he was unwanted company failed to phase him, and he approached the female and sat beside her. "Having your entire life revolve around one other is dangerous. But that's how you are, isn't it? It was Sashta for a while... Raja is your most recent, isn't she?"

There were a few times in her life Audi had been told her father was the sort to pounce on those that aggravated him. She had absolutely no problem blaming him as the reason her muscles twitched anxiously, urging her to maul this annoyance sitting beside her and rip him apart.

Why she resisted, she herself couldn't completely reason. Did she think she would lose? Or maybe because she considered him a friend? A little voice in her head told her it may be another reason.

Because he was right.

Sashta had been her 'world' for a time. Or more, the thought of getting vengance on the one who had sacraficed her had. Then, she'd become rivals with Meskeet, and the thought of dominanting over her had taking Sashta's number one place on her list. After that, it had been Phantom, then Raja...

It was a cycle that repeated itself continously, causing damage to her each time, both mental and physical.

"I don't understand why she's doing this..."

Sosay's ears flatened as he watched her try and sort her thoughts out. This situation both crushed him and made him have to resist grinning. If there had ever been an opportunity for him, it was no better one than this one.

Head tilted, he portrayed the picture of innocence. Unfortunately, it wasn't as effective as when he was a puppy. Ah, he missed his youth... "Doing what?"

Audi shifted. To the left. To the right. To the left again. Everything had been so perfect. Why couldn't it stay that way? Phantom had been killed, and she thought everything would be alright. Were they doomed to forever suffer? To endlessly fight?

Facing him, eye contact and all, she uttered a single word, yet one with more meaning than if she had rambled on for hours: "Losing."

Finally, she was looking at him, and all he could do was cringe away. He didn't like seeing her defeated like that. When he said he was speaking from experience, he hadn't been lying or story-telling like he had with so many other words that came from his jaws. Audi was his world.

It was because of that he acknowledged his insanity.

"Audi..." When he started speaking, his voice was low, quiet. As he continued, it gained more confidence. He needed to sound sure of himself or she wouldn't bite. But if he said this wrong, even one word, it would ruin the entire thing... "You need to revolve around someone, don't you? It must be so troublesome that they keep leaving you. Your enemies and role-models that you obsess over just dissapear."

Keep going, his mind urged. "Let it be me now."

Blunt was best... Maybe.

The female stiffened visibly. Had he just said that?

Sosay's feelings for her were no surprise. He'd voiced them since he was a pup, actually, and made damn sure absolutely every one knew. Even so, the entire time, he'd been content to sit on the sidelines or watch from afar, never prodding her to accept him.

What could she say? Yes? No? "Sosay..."

Smooth, Audi. Smooth.

Now or never, he guessed. "Audi, let's be serious. This pack is a mess. Raja is afraid of those triplets, as I think she should be. Anyone who lives to follow under some product of Phantom should be feared, especially when there's three of them."

He paused briefly. "...Phantom thought his rule would stand until he died, and look where he is. Raja felt the same way, and look whats happening. History runs a high risk of repeating itself. Just... I'll protect you, Audi, no matter what."

The voice drifted to them like a passing breeze. One that carried a mist of poison with it. Sosay was a spy, and that took the cunning skills not all had. But Dakolin? He was a killer, an assassin. Armed with skills that spotted little brat could only dream of.

"What a sweet couple." Red eyes gleamed in the darkness, visible long before the dark teal form itself could be made out. "You're far too easy to track, Sosay. I finally have enough free time to deal with you."

"I never questioned that, idiot," Audi scolded. He had been the one who had ran her to Phib after Phantom had nearly killed her as a puppy, hadn't he? How could she have ever fallen for such a twisted b*****d? Absently, she wondered how Phib was doing.

Her ears perked at the voice, and she whipped around to face the other wolf. From head to paws she shuddered. Those eyes... It wasn't as though Phantom's lineage was the only one to have them. China Blue herself lacked the color. Those who shared the same blood as his just had a certain glint in them...

The insult didn't bother him any. It seemed as though she was using it in a fond way. Besides, maybe he was an idiot to think her completely oblivious and ungreatful for all he'd done.

"Audi--" Being interupted was annoying enough. Being interupted by Dakolin was an entirely different matter...

Snarling at the assassin, he hurried infront of the other beta. "What do you want, Dakolin? Shouldn't you be busy trying to kill Phantom's plague?"
PostPosted: Wed Mar 07, 2007 9:01 pm

"Certainly," Dakolin agreed. There was nothing he wanted to do more. "I trust you've heard from your alpha about those triplets arriving here. They're under Tekka's command. She's so much like her father. If I was as insane as Phantom, I'd be proud as her uncle." He snorted, a low chuckle rising from his throat. May that b*****d rot at the bottom of that cliff for the rest of eternity. Or at least until his bones turned to dust and blew away in the wind.

"Your alpha, even, seems to be on high alert. As you know, the Arcane Circle is not obligated to help me with a personal problem like this one, so..." A wide, toothy grin accompanied his words. "I'm willing to make a deal with you."

In a rare moment, Sosay was stunned. Did that mean that these females with Tekka were too much for Dakolin? Enough that he would offer a bargain? And with him, no less. This was unheard of.

"I don't trust you," the spy said flatly. "But, let's say I'm curious. What kind of deal?"
