Although a truly gifted hairstylist, Kiri Koshiba has no interest in using her talent to pursue fame and fortune, unlike the three popular boys in the "Scissors Project" at school. Determined to become the best makeover team in Japan, they give showy makeovers to handpicked girls. As much as Kiri tries to shy away from the Scissors Project spotlight, she finds herself responding to beauty's call...

In volume 1, Kiri's friend Kanako gives a present to one of the members of the Scissors Project. Her act of kindness is interpreted as a bribe to get a makeover, and they reject her out of hand for being too ugly. Kiri decides to help Kanako and give the boys a lesson in what true beauty is.

Characters

Kiri Koshiba
A gifted stylist with no interest in pursuing fame with her talent. Kiri will occasionally give makeovers to girls having certain problems. Kiri tends to have a nonchalant attitude that gets on Narumi's nerves. Her hairstyle annoys him, as well - she wears it in a layer bob, leading him to nickname her "Mussyhead." Her family owns a beauty salon, and she has a cat named Shampoo.

Kanako Aoyama
A friend of Kiri's who admires her talents. Kanako tends to be shy and bookish. When she was rejected by Kazuhiko Ochiai, Kiri gave her a makeover to teach the S.P. a lesson.

Taro Komatsu
Kiri's childhood friend and neighbor. Kiri calls him Komattaro or Taro-Tard, which annoys him very much. Taro is a big fan of the S.P. and wants to be a beautician because of them even though he lacks the skill. He works part-time at the Komatsu 88 yen store.

Shampoo
Kiri's fat pet cat.

Minamoto Iori
Kiri's childhood friend who recently moved back to Japan from New York. His father specializes in making aroma therapeutic oils and perfumes. (he appears in volume 2)

Seiji and Emi Koshiba
Kiri's father and mother, her father owns the Koshiba Beauty Salon and was the one to train Kiri in the art of hairstyling. Her mother is a famous special effects makeup artist in Hollywood. Even after a long distance, the marrage never badfired and the two kept in contact through email.

Scissors Project

Shogo Narumi
The only son and heir to the Salon de Narumi. Narumi seems to hate his father and wants to be the best in Japan. He is a talented hairstylist that has won every competition except for the contest in fourth grade where he lost to a mysterious, cute third grade girl. Narumi has never been able to forget that incident and vows for revenge. He often loses his cool around Kiri. He is called Naru-Naru (or Naru-Naru sempai in one part) by both Kiri and Kei. He often doesn't get along well with girls, therefore when he encounters girls he often yells or runs away.

Kei Minami
The member of the S.P that does nail art. Kei is playful and is often seen eating junk food and candy. Kei likes to come up with nicknames for his friends like 'Naru-Naru' and 'narurin' for narumi while he calls Ochiai 'Occhi'. He also serves as emcee for any Scissors Project event, announcing the model and occasonally commenting while Narumi cuts.

Kazuhiko Ochiai
The overall beauty consultant of the group. He is the brains behind the operation and acts like a human computer, with "data" on every girl in the school. He's at the top of his class. Ochiai loves to mess with Narumi and is often scheming. Later on in the story it seems that he developes a crush on Kiri.
