If the title seems confusing, then the post won't be -- I assure you that much. It will be explained in the post, hopefully.

I usually tend to frequent the Exchange for my quest items since I usually tend to have items mixed in with pure. Now, some Exchangers are pretty decent with what they will or will not accept for an item/pure mix and some are down right insistant that buyers have a certain item.

I've come across some threads in the Exchange that go by different mentality on what they want, what they expect, and what the buyers tend to offer. In some cases, threads go on for a bit without taking in a offer -- all because of what the seller wants in exchange for an item. Usually it's the outrageous requests that drive poetinal buyers away.

Pure Only -- These types of threads usually don't go over too well [in my opinion anyways], especally if it's a very high-priced item [like Mini's, D-Tail, etc]. Not everyone in the Exchange has millions upon millions sitting there, gathering dust. Even with the other older MC's [Staff, Seals, etc], there are those that venture into the Exchange looking for pure only. While it's good for quick selling items, like current MC's, game items [I've done these plenty of times], and the like, it's not someone everyone is willing to do in the Exchange. My take on these "I only want X amount of pure for my item" is that if one really wants pure only, then take it to the Marketplace. That's why it's there and it's a waste of server space to sell something for pure only when one can do the same in the Market. I usually steer clear of the Pure Only threads for more expensive items because I usually tend to have a pure/item mix on hand.

Items Only -- These types of threads are more likely to have users come in and bid on an item than the Pure Only threads. However, the downside to this is that not everyone has 12 items to send in a trade that is X amount of gold value for the item that's up for sale. Not everyone wants to do multiple trades for an item that another can do in less the hassle. My take on these threads is that while it's a good idea, it's not the best idea to ask for items only.

Pure/Item Mix -- To tell you the truth, I flock to these threads like seagulls do to a loaf of bread. They are the best kind of thread an Exchanger can go to because the seller doesn't mind having items with pure mixed in with the offer or can sell the items in question at a later date [ inflation anyone? ]. However, sellers tend to value pure more then the items and don't like event/holiday/game items as much as they do sealeds and letters. It's hard to please sellers when it comes to items mixed in with pure. My take on these threads is that it's easier to sell/exchange items for other items and have pure on the side as well but take it with a grain of salt. No one knows how the Market will go in the future.
