Well, here in Springfield, Ohio, we never have had a tournament at our arcade. NEVER. We finally convinced Jane, the manager, to let us have a tournament. We were ecstatic. But little did we know--Jane called EB Games. EB is now hosting our tournament. There is no entrance fee--and I'm not quite sure about the prizes either. All I know is that they've seriously made the worst tournament ever.
Let me tell you how the tournament will run. There are no divisions. Everyone is seeded into time brackets over a course of 3 days (tuesday to thursday). First 2 days, people compete in their time bracket--third day is the finals. Songs are chosen neither by us nor song cards, songs are chosen by EB staff. We all play the same song. Judgement is based on score, not DP. I don't know if they're gonna help us purchase new sensors or not... the left pad is messed up and gives lots of mad misses.
I hate this so much. At first I was so excited--but then I seen how it was gonna be run--and then I just want to vomit and commit suicide right there on the pad. I tried reasoning with the managers at EB, but no, he refuses. He says his way is the best because other EB stores have done it this way. crying .
Here we go. Should I get EVERYONE to quit the EB games tournament in an uprising and have my own tournament--complete with new sensors, division, entry fee, song cards, and double elimination............. or should I just say ******** it and stay in the tournament--silently deriding their failure. Maybe I should do both... whee watch them fail, have mine next month--pay commission to Jane and have a good time with everyone.

That didn't sound TOO bad, until you mentioned the judgement method. What the hell? So basically, the winner is determined by who got more Perfects at the end of the song? neutral (you should try at least explaining that to them)

At least they're willing to host a tourny for you.
I'd be very surprised if we ever had a DDR tourny in this city.

anyway yeah EB does suk for what happened at the comp. there store also suks really shitty service...

It's not well planned out... I just hope that she lets me clean the pads. The left side is really messed up... read my post up in the Ask DDR Questions sticky for more info on how dirty it is.

Just a suggestion, but if you got to the ddr freak site(it's in the guild links) you might be able to find good tourneys near you.
It's quite sad to have people whom know nothing about ddr beyond stepping on arrows hosting a tourney.

the only tournaments I have been to are at GOM, one of the best arcades around. People drive an hour just to play there... hehe. I drive about 15 minutes to get there, which isn't bad--3 lane highways are the best.

I don't know too much about tourneys. I've only been in one, and it was just for the heck of it. It wasn't very big.
But I will say, that the scoring system does sound rather sucky.
And if you really feel the need to vomit and commit suicide right there on the pad.... please have some sympathy and step off the pad first! xd Hahaha, kidding.
