I was thinking about this earlier...

I know that especially within the doll industry that companies don't market what they think won't sell, which is why it leaves some consumers saying "they should make this!" or "why haven't they thought of doing this?"

I'm a 1/6 dollfie collector (well, starter anyway rolleyes ) and from what I hear, the volks "tan" skintone dollfies aren't much different from the "normal" skintone dollfies. And I know that the SDs only come in the "white" and "normal" skintones.

Going back to my previous statement, companies don't market what they feel won't sell, and this maybe the case with Volks. So my question to you is this:
If BJD companies (particularly Volks since that is the only company I'm familiar with sweatdrop ) sold dolls that were darker in skin tone (i.e. chocolate or somewhere around there) would you purchase them?

Now, I understand that this can be a sensitive topic. But I trust that we can all be mature and respectable about it. This is just a poll out of curiosity of whether or not you would buy what these companies think will not sell. If you select yes, then ok. If you select no, then that's ok too. This is about personal doll preferences. In other words, your honesty would be appreciated.

I didn't think to add it in the poll, but if dollfie companies produced large-sized dolls (as in XL, 2X body type dolls) would you buy those?

As for me, I say yes to both of these questions. I'm the type of person that would like to have a large variety of dollfies. It'll make my collection more interesting to have dollfies who represent all walks of life cool

as far as i know, i would see them producing a chocolate-skincolor sometime in the near future, as 'sunlight skin' is increasingly popular, Leeke just released a sunlight skin (looks like a tanned olive skin, a very pretty resin) so i wouldnt be surprised if something even darker came out soon, and they did four skintone colors. (snow, natural, sunlight, and (???))

I was browsing Custom Ai House one time and they had these two tan dollfies. One was a Egyptian with nice makeup but I can't remember what the other one was--Native American or maybe another Egyptian question

If it was the right doll, then of course!

I think some dolls like stunning tan! It's all a matter of getting the look right afterwards, or else it will look funky o_O

YES!!!!! I wan't taller boys (about hounds size) and darker skin. I have yet to purchase a sunlight skin doll from volks, but from what I've seen, I'm disappointed. It's not nearly tan enough to really be considered a dark skinned doll as I've heard. Leekeworld tanned dolls are adorable, but I can't comment on just how dark the resin is. Custom House dolls are, I think, the best looking of all of the tanned dolls!!! They are the right color of tan, but they only come as limited editions and they haven't made a new tan doll for me to drool over yet so I'm kind of sad.

On the other hand, making a tanned doll requires the resin to be died and can be hard to manage if you want to sand the doll. Volks sunlight skin dolls have a warning that you should send the doll to volks for sanding as the resin will become lighter in the sanded area if done by hand. I'm not sure how hard it would be to make a doll tanned though, because I know nothing about resin quality and what it can and can't stand up to so I'm not a very good resourse.
