Hey everyone I'm new to the thread, so hello! heart

Its been 2 years since I've been on my period and I still haven't summed up the courage to use a tampon. I like using pads, but are they really that different? Is it really that big of a deal as to what you use? Cause for some reason I feel very insecure and silly for not being able to use a tampon.

It's a matter of personal preference what you use. Tampons are different because of where they are. As for the protection each offers, tampons can be a little less reliable if you're bleeding really heavily. And if you ever do decide to try tampons, don't try the super plus right off the bat.

Like Mythril said, it is all a matter of preference. It's not like it has anything to do with time, age, maturity, or how long you have had your period. You can start using tampons from day one, or use pads your whole life.

Personally, I hate tampons. I have had my period for eleven years and am a pad person all the way.

Honestly, it's like worrying because you have never worn striped socks. No one will care, it doesn't matter, and it doesn't mean anything. 3nodding

I prefer pads over Tampons. My mom has told me that Tampons are not good to use on any period. She said that I should let my period flow the natural way and not stick a Tampon in. Infection can happen with Tampons or the Tampon can get stuck. I say stick with pads.

I've had my period since I was 11 (I'm 20 now), and I've never used a tampon. I prefer pads so that's what I use.

It's just a matter of preference. You don't have to use tampons if you really don't want to. 3nodding

Lol I on the other hand, LOVE tampons. I remember when I started getting my period and my mom said that it'll be easier to use a tampon. Well for a while I couldn't find the spot to put the tampon in, so for the longest time I was afraid that I didn't have a hole to put the tampon in! Lol so I used the pad. Though it did get annoying when blood would leak onto my panties or make me feel really slimey when I was on my period and marching in the band. >.< I always got a rash afterwards. Tampons really work for me anyway because it helps keep me from staining my panties when I'm walking around and it made my rash go away! Lol. But as everyone says it depends on the girl. Pads are all good and great, but when I finally figured out to use the tampon, I loved it and kept using it.

I use both. I prefer pads...but when it comes to activites like horse back riding, swimming or anything heavy I choose to use a tampon. I found out the hard way of wearing a pad horse back riding...I got a really bad "rug" burn down there. I then had to explain to my mother why I was walking funny.

On the opposite end of the spectrum from a previous poster, I'm a tampon gal with a panty liner on the heavy days.

Using a tampon is all about personal preference. I started using tampons because, on the whole, they're much easier. I like to keep very, very clean down there, especially during my period, and tampons help me achieve it. I also find it easier to do sports, and I can still swim without fear of blood leaking.

It takes some practice, but in a short time, you'll catch on, and it'll become second nature to insert and go. If you do it right, you can't feel it.

The biggest problem most new users face is that they're unfamiliar with their v****a. Because of this, they have to learn along the way which is possibly one of the best ways to learn for a girl in general.

Just remember that washing your hands after insertion is good. (:

I use tampons and pads. I've never been able to just use a tampon on it's own, as I have a very heavy flow. I feel more comfortable 'doubling up'. Although, I do use pads on their own at the begininning and at the end of my period.

It took me a long time to get used to tampons, but even now sometimes I find them uncomfortable. If you're not ready to use tampons, don't rush it, or don't use them at all. It's all up to you, plus they make really small, really absorbent pads now.

i choose to wear tampons because i think pads are too dipar like. Plus, i can wear a tampon while doing my sports.

I use tampons now instead of pads. ninja But it's still just a matter of personal preference.

I prefer tampons. They keep me clean, so i dont havve to scrub with a Scott towel Wet Ones, (lol) to stay sanitary. Besides, they only cause infections if used improperly (most the time). I do have to double up sometimes, and I always use a liner with mine. I hate the diaper-y-ness of the pads too... they arent very discreet.

It's really not a big deal if you don't use tampons. I prefer them though. I was scared to use them for the first time too. My friends kept telling me how much better tampons are. Once you try them once you won't be afraid to use them again. Just get the courage to do it once and you're set.
