Today was a good day; Embamba 'swam' along in the shoulder high sea of grass on the savannah, her dusty red-brown pelt blending in somewhat among the golden stalks. Even her mask helped to hide her, for the golden lines could easily be mistaken for grass in the wind. It was nice to feel invisible, like a lioness should. The soft wind tickling across the grasslands, and likewise through her fur helped to add a sense of home, even though it wasn't. At least, for her. Twinkling ruby eyes scanned across the tops of the grass for signs of her daughters; one of which would be as hard to find as she was, while the other she'd have to be blind to miss. And yet, see them she did not.
Embamba frowned a little, for it seemed as if Barazahi, at least, went missing more often than not as of late. Whether this was true or just the opinion of a worried mother was up for debate, but Embamba's worries couldn't help but be amplified with the secret she'd long been keeping for her masked daughter. There were many things she thought she should take up with her daughers, the least of which being their habit of running off. They were getting older--adults in their own right, now--a sign not only of how long their group had been missing from their Pride, but that Embamba no longer held any control over her children.
As joyful as she was that all three had come to adult hood with no complications from their mother's poor health, it also terrified her in the way that all mothers worried about their young "leaving the nest." Would they make the right choices? Would they raise familys of their own? Would they be the huntresses their pride would need; the kind that their mother couldn't provide an example of? Oh certainly there was the Msaka that had come with them; she had been a blessing for their party, and yet Embamba had always wished she could have been the example FOR them. Still, perhaps she'd managed to offer some sort of wisdom to her children.
Such musings weren't needed right now; instead, Embamba sought to cocentrate on finding the two "girls," "Bara!" She waited a moment, before calling again, "Ata?"

Barazahi's full attention was focused on one thing in the entire world... The young antellope grazing in front of her. It was around adolescenthood, not unlike she had been so recently. The difference? She had lived to adulthood, and this creature would not. Raza had noticed a recent change in many things... her mindset, her interests, even her body! She had grown stronger, but more importantly more beautiful. Also, with the nearing of the party to the Mteo'Nyungu lands, she decided to focus herself more on her hunting, as it needed a brush up. She would, after all, be an Msaka when they returned, and she'd have to catch things for Angusho.
She flattened her ears to her head and lunged with everything she had at the young thing, giving chase for a short while before tripping and killing it. Once it was dead, she started to clean herself. She couldn't stand to have the blood on her for long... Once she got back she'd wash in the nearest pool.
Something distracted her, however. That familiar call of her mother. She picked up her kill at a spot where it wouldn't drip much on her and headed off in that direction, thoughts wandering off to Angusho. She hadn't been able to hide sneaking out at night... How would she possibly be able to hide her newest "endeavor?" How badly would her mother wig when she heard that she loved him, and he her? She shook her head as she approached, and sat still, knowing her near-invisible mother would come to her beautiful blue coat. After all, Embamba was nearly impossible to find in the savannah when she felt well enough to keep hidden. "Mother!" She called softly, knowing that she was somewhere nearby.

(( Since I always post picture antyway xD )) Her mother hadn't seen her; and so hadn't that zebra! Though, unfortunately, that group of scavangers had, it was hard to keep vultures, jackals and a wild dog away, so she'd been forced to give up her catch. None the lett, the young female was extremely proud; she'd been practicing her hunting for a couple of months now, and to have managed a young zebra was just great.
But sitll, she stalked quietly through the grass, incase anything had ran in here, for her to catch. Her tan melted in quite nicely with the grass, just like her mother's own fur, and her back and.. hair weren't a giveoff, either. Matching even better with the dry yellow.
She heard something! She heard.. her mother.
She blinked, moving quietly towards the lioness, just in case there still was something. Besides, it was nice to play a little game. She smirked, catching just a small rustle of movement, though the first sight wa sher sister. The young female sunk back into the grass, crouching low and keeping quiet. They'd have a hard time seeing her from this distance, and she could find them with her ears. Just.. sink back and enjoy for now!

Angusho had to admit to himself that he had been quite distracted lately. Raza and the others had gotten their growth spurt and were now full fledged adults. He always wondered if Raza had told her mother or father about them, but doubted it. He loved her, that much he was sure of, but would he get their approval? He had a sinking feeling that the idea wouldn't be the most popular one.
His ear flicked as he heard Embamba calling to her children. Without even really thinking about it, he started in the direction of her call. Angusho never seemed to get to spend time with her any more, and more importantly, protect her. He didn't see her, though, for as usual she was next to impossible to find in the tall grass. Puzzled, he looked around, hoping to see one of the daughters she had called for, and there was Raza!
It would be hard to tell for sure which on of them stood out more in the grass, Raza or Angusho. He bounded over to her, and noticed that she had managed to catch and kill an antelope. "Very impressive Raza, I see you're hunting skills are developing quite nicely." He said casually. "You will make a fine Msaka when we return home."

Kimya crept through the grass, even with his dark blue coat forcing him to stick out like a sore thumb. Stealth mattered only in hunting and he was simply practicing those skills needed. Practicing, because he had grown once again. Finally... his mind whispered, Finally I can be treated as more then just a child!
His dark ears twitched as a familiar call reached him and he almost stood, wanting to see what he heard. He forced himself not to though, slinking forward in the direction of sound. The call was from his mother and though she had not spoken his name, what could he do but answer? At least he could spend some time with her and perhaps even his siblings.
He padded closer, catching the scent of his sisters and Angusho, the male who had taught him about his duty. "Perhaps this will be more interesting then?" He murmured the faintest smile passing over his maw.

"Yes, she will." Embamba's voice drifted out of the grass around her blue-coated daughter and the pink male whom she'd long grown to respect for his devotion to their family. She broke from the grass a moment later, though her voice had to have keyed them to where she was. The sight of her daughter with an antelope in her maw, despite Raza's hangups over getting messy, brought a sting of joy to her heart. It seemed her own short comings indeed hadn't carried over to her daughter, at least this one, and for that she was grateful.
The lioness offered a nod of greeting to Angusho as she stretched herself and sat near the blue-hued female. "I had thought you were scouting with Ndege, but I see he took Chu instead." She wasn't bothered by that, as some might have considered that she might; Ndege was beyond loyal to her, of that Embamba had never faced a single doubt. Despite their time together, Chuguu and she had never really gotten to know one another as one might thing the only two adult females would have. Of course, she wasn't terribly close with Angusho, either, though she was comfortable in his presence.
"Its good you came out to join us, though," She offered Angusho a smile, not wanting him to think himself unwelcomed. With that her ruby-eyes flickered back to their kin, "And that is a most handsome catch, Raza. I'm so very proud of you." Warmth radiated softly from her voice as she held her daughters eyes, but did not move to touch her. The corpse was still between them, after all, and Raza was an adult now; it would be unseemly for Embamba to treat her so much like a child.
The female's eyes were torn away, just for a brief glance, at the barest flash of blue on the horizon. She didn't think it was Ndege, for he wouldn't have slunk so low to the ground that the grass covered him. Embamba smiled secretly, but said nothing to the boy she thought was there. He was, after all, hiding himself as best as he possibly could, and she'd only caught him by chance. "I was worried when no one had returned to our camp after so long out. Have you seen Ata or Kimya about?"

Barazahi had been about to snuggle against Angu, but reminded herself that number one: She'd already alerted her mother to her whereabouts and two: even if she hadn't, her blue pelt made her stick out like a sore thumb. She gave a sheepish grin at first when her mother appeared, which changed to one of pride when her mother saw her catch. "It's the biggest I've caught yet!" She said happily to her mother. Raza wasn't the best hunter, but she could certainly make due when need be. And that her mother was proud of her gave her hope that she may become a strong Msaka yet.
She cleaned the blood off of her while Embamba talked with Angu, thinking of his eyes... of his voice. She was distracted when her mother asked her the question.
"Huh? Oh! Uh... I saw them both heading out of camp this morning, but I don't know where they are now," She said truthfully. "They can't be far," She said, slowly returning to cleaning off a paw.

She blinked as she watched her family, and Angu sorta counted as that too; he'd always been there. Her pure black eyes had also caught sight of the blue blob that was her brother in the distance. Not that far, but still blob-like.
She folded her ears back, deciding that her brother would probably notice her; he had always been whom she played with, used to her strategies. So she looked right at him as he approached, if he looked at her, perhaps he'd catch the 'I'm up to mischeif be quiet' look, they'd done it befre, she was sure.
The others wouldn't see her just yet, the grass was sort of thick towards them, making it even hard for her to see her sister's bright blue and Angusho's pink. But from Kimya's vantage point, she was much more visible.

Angu had to try very hard to keep from cuddling with Raza when she was in such close proximity, but managed to avoid contact with her. He didn't really want the rest of the family finding out just yet.
"Ah, I was scouting on my own, miss Embamba. I happened to hear your voice and saw Raza, so I came to talk with you. The area seems quite secure, there is no threat from the rogue lions today, nor any other hostile beast." He said with a respectful nod. He was grateful that she wasn't intimidated by his presence. He didn't know why she would be, but the fact that she was so relaxed around him made him feel like he was wanted.
"I..." Angu started, but he noticed Kimya out of the corner of his eye. Why was he hiding? Perhaps he had a reason, and now that he was an adult, Angu would have to trust him. "I'm not really sure. I thought I saw master Kimya earlier, but I haven't seen miss Ata all day." He shrugged, deciding to tell at least most of the truth. Perhaps master Kimya was simply playing a game with them all, but he was too big and blue to hide very well.

Kimya blinked as his eyes landed on his tan sibling, she had developed her talent at hiding in the grass and so it was much harder to find her now. Kimya managed it though, somehow. It was probably from the fact that they had played together so often. Seeing her look, he nodded slightly, at least this would be entertaining.
He didn't know Angusho had seen him, so he didn't alter his posture or movements to show it. He knew his mother and sister were nearby, probably close to where Ata was prowling. He grinned a bit, perhaps he would tackle Bara into the mud? That'd make her angry, but what did he care? They hardly ever played anymore, at least let them have some fun while they could!
He shouldn't be too surprising though, he didn't want to scare his mother into an attack or something similar. No...he had to be delicate. Maybe when he reached Ata she'd have something in mind? They might as well do it together, keep the fun in the group.

Embamba offered an amused smile to Angu. It was rather obvious he'd seen what she had, and yet they both acted as if they hadn't. The whole situation was quaint; Another flash of blue hit her preferial vision and then was gone behind her. Though she could no longer see the boy, she thought she could 'feel' where he was, in a sense, and so she let that awareness sit at the back of her mind. Instead, the lioness nodded lightly. "i'm certain they'll turn up at least... Would you like to finish your supper in private, Raza?"
One of her brows lifted just slightly and she smiled upon her daughter, "I was hoping to talk to you and your sister at least, but I am thinking now that you may not need this talk. Still, it would be pleasing to hear more of what you do with your days." Embamba nodded towards their male companion, "As should we spend more time together, old friend. I apologize for my seeming.. disinterest of late."

Raza was completely oblivious to the presence of either of her siblings around her. She wasn't, after all, the best of hunters. "I don't mind," Raza said, concerning her catch. "You can have some too, if you want," she offered to all present.
Raza sat quietly while her mother addressed her mate. Would her mother still consider Angu a friend after finding out about them? Hopefully- she'd have to.

He'd understood! Only he was coming over to her. This wasn't great. had he forgotten he was a terrible hider? She pulled away quietly, shaking her head sloly. Ata lifted a paw, motioning for him to go around, and wait for a signal
If they caught one, um.. The other was still free?

Angu returned the amused smile, shaking his head slightly and chuckling. "Yes, I'm sure we'll find them soon." He said simply.
"No need to apologize, I have to say that I too have been rather distracted lately." He risked a glance at Raza, "But yes, we should spend more time together, though traveling for so long is hard on all of us. I'm sure things will become easier once we get home."
Angu flicked an ear in Raza's direction, "No thank you, Raza. It is your kill, you deserve it." He said with a nod, "I'm sure Chuguu will bring more later."

Kimya raised a eyebrow slightly. Apparently he wasn't supposed to go near her? Well fine then. He obeyed her motions, altering his path so he wouldn't encounter her directly. This day was becoming a bit less entertaining, ah well. His tail flopped agaisnt the ground, revealing his impatience. He was not the type to be very patient for a long amount of time. Whatever Ata was planning....it'd better happen soon.
