A theory to test about gaining gold in gaia
For those people who have no talents in drawing or any thing that could earn gold, this is a theory that has yet to be tested (will be when i get enough gold) something that I talked about with Armelin about the Marketplace.
Last note this is a THEORY it has not been proven and if ever i get enough gold i wouldnt mind trying
The prices of the marketplace fluctuate dramatically as we know it (through hours possibly). One day the price may drop 3k or increase by 100g. The theory I'm about to speak of has worked once and only once for me with the monthly collectible Katanas (cause i have only tried once). The price fluctuation is enough to be able to make small amounts (or lose amounts) of money over the night. Weirdly, for some items, the cost during the day is more expensive than it is during the night (possibly my night = day for Europeans thus price increase due to high demand). The basic principle is buying low and selling high, with one small difference: buying at somewhat normal price (nothing excessively cheap) while selling with a price approx 1k+ more. E.g. Buying katana for 25k and selling it for 27k (this is the real life example that worked). Something to take pointer is that when i bought the katana for 25k, it was the market price, the price i got when i sorted the katanas by "Lowest buy price" When i checked back the next day i had sold the katana for 27k, but the market price remained 25k. This possibly could be because when i added it into the market place, people sort their items according to 'date added' rather than lowest buy price. However another incident was brought up by Armelin about how one person earned millions through 5000 transactions. The theory was that he gained little by little as much as 100g to maybe 1k or 2k each transaction.
If the minimum gold gained was 100g 100g x 2500 = 250k.
Notice as you earn more money (up to around 100k) you can use this technique on more expensive items earning around 15k per two transactions. By doing this over and over again you can earn possibly millions. This is however a LONG TIME PERIOD. If at most you are making a profit off 4 items per day (which is highly unlikely depending on the price increase) you would have to have
2500/4 = 625 days or around 2 years. notice this is something that you would use to achieve maybe 50k. Attempting to achieve millions just by this alone. I suggest when you have enough money, open something such as a giveaway dice game that can earn you quite abit of gold.
Factors: There are a few factors that you MUST be aware of (this increases as i continue to experiment)...
Popularity of the item: The item must be relatively popular. Otherwise no one would actually buy the item (monthly collectibles are recommended)
Theory start test: Enchanted Wooden Box (SUCCESS) Bought = 2197g Selling = 2400g Time = 6 hours (when i was asleep) Profit = 203g
Enchanted Wooden Box x 2 (SUCCESS) Bought = 2100g Selling = 2400g Time = 12 hours (after coming back from school) Profit = 600g
Brown Magical Giftbox (Half Success) Bought = 4897 Selling = 5050 Time = 24 hours Profit = 153g
Shadow Spirit (SUCCESS) Bought = 19850g Selling = 22000g Time = 2 hours Profit = 2150g
Item List Effective: Enchanted wooden box
Not so effective: Brown Magical Giftbox
Not effective: Pixie

I used this same technique when I first entered GAIA last year, I live in Europe so for me it would be cheaper by day (about 8 to 12 hours time laps)
and it was because I often got more profit during the night here, with about 1 k to 5 K per Item I sold.
(used items where Mythrill armor, sword of aegis, most likely donation items)
but also with normal items I got up to 30% profit (if dealt carefully with) I bought and sold most often on rods and event items, with "BIDS" which used to took less then 1 minute to get.
But the lowest bid technique does not have any value any more because many people withdraw their item before time passes by.
but I have to say that it definitely works because in less then 2 week I earned over 40K on just salesmanship on the marketplace. when I told this to a friend he said it was impossible to earn this much money so fast. I even was warned by mods for messing with market place (envy is a sin and you will go to hell for that >.<), so this buying when it's day (European time) and selling when it's night actually worked for me.
I have stopped on marketplace lately, but maybe I should go and *ehum* take back control over marketplace lol.

weird that they'd actually threaten you simply for finding an effective and legal method of making gold =P maybe it's just that your shopping patterns resembled that of a bot, mass refresh during item hunts and etc.

Very interesting....It's kind of like buying and selling commodities. I might just have to try my hand at this.
