Melody felt herself hesitate as they stopped outside the building, as it cast a shadow over the two. Letting her gaze travel over every intricate detail that was carved into her memory, she bit her lip as a wave of nostalgia blew over her. Okay, it hadn't been long, but...she felt herself admitting that she missed this place, darnit. And everyone...and almost as she was reluctant to say it, Fauste.
The red haired boy folded his arms, glaring at the building. All he had done was whine on and on about Gywn being missing, and his mother had brought him here. There had better be some explanations soon. Alora was snoozing at home, not knowing that he had wanted to solve the mystery of their disappearing sister. Mereneth let himself glance at his mother for a moment, before marching up to the door and giving it a sharp rap on it with his knuckles.

Saga waddled over to the door and stood on tiptoes before turning the knob. He had been bored the entire morning... Although this house was huge, there was nothing much to explore. He had spent three hours trying out all the gaming systems, about an hour exploring all of the different floors, a few minutes playing with the lift, and his remaining time learning how to create a rain cloud appear above his head.
He pushed the door open a little, and peeked out. Just as he was about to open the door completely, Saga tripped over his untied shoelaces and fell out onto the pavement, right at the feet of a very familiar face. Blinking, he quickly got up and dusted himself before sweeping his long bangs to one side.
Giving a shy smile, he tilted his head to the right with a questioning glace, "Mere? Mere's mummy?"
"Who's there, Squirt?" A male's voice asked as Fauste appeared, putting one hand on top of Saga's head. He took one look at Melody, and gave a soft 'humph'. He dragged a protesting Saga in by the collar of his shirt, and nodded, "Hm... Come in. By the looks of it, you know Saga the Squirt?"
"I'm not a 'squirt'..."
"Did you say something, Squirt?"
"Uncle Fauste..."
"Say that again."
"Uncle Fa-"
"Saga, go play with Melody's boy while Melody and I talk."
"Okay, Fauste nii-sama!"
Saga looked at Mere, "Would you like to play with me?"

Oh no.
She wasn't exactly prepared to face him yet; and could only watch in mute horror as Mereneth gave a loud knock on the door. Maybe he isn't here. Maybe he's out or... All thoughts of that vanished when the door opened and somebody quite familiar fell out with a thud. Saga? What was he doing here...oh...right. Dragain's child should be his nephew of sorts, right?
She didn't know what reaction she should give to Fauste however. What, giggle as she always had? Somehow, it didn't fit the ocassion. She settled with putting a thin smile on her face, biting a small part of her lip as she walked forward.
Mereneth blinked as Saga fell in front of him, he had almost wanted to help, but the other toddler had it under control as he picked himself up again. And calling his friend a squirt? A glare was directed at Fauste immediately. Who was this guy? The one mom kinda always complained about? It had to be, he decided, as his wings and flame on his tail fluttered in response. Oh wait, Saga didn't like fire. Frowning, he concentrated for a while, making it poof out. There, that shouldn't make the other boy worried.
Play? "Just a minute." He told Saga with a rather happy smile, then directed a scowl at the grown up. "Where's sis? Where's Gywn?"

He didn't notice the fire. Okay, maybe he did smell it, but he remembered that Mere likes fire as much as he likes water. He probably shouldn't make a fuss out of the smell. Maybe someone, a neighbour, is burning something in their backyard, or cooking something strong smelling in their kitchen. Yes, that must be it...
"Sis? Gywn?" Saga echoed, puzzled as to what Mere was talking about. Sis as if in sister? Why was he asking Fauste about his sister? He looked at Mere again, before directing his attention to his grumpy uncle. The bad mood of his had increased from before, perhaps even as much as tenfold.
Maybe it's because Seth was gone...
"Hm... Haven't you told him?" Fauste asked in a soft voice, looking at Melody with a frown. How was he supposed to explain? Say that she had vanished because Fauste tried to out-smart the Gods from Earth? Say that the attempts by himself, Melody, and the other teachers to cover up the incident failed, resulting in the 'death' of all the energy in the Krystals?
He can't say that. No matter how hard-hearted he appears to be, he still can't say it out... He can't say that "Gywn is dead" and expect the child to take it. Even he had some difficulty with Seth's 'death'.
"Humph... Maybe it's for the best." He continued a second later, squatting down to face Mere eye to eye. He gave Mere a serious look, "Your sister is sleeping. She's in a place where she's living happily now... But she lives somewhere close to you as well... This place, you will have to discover for yourself."
Standing up, he ruffled Mere's hair, the way he always did to Seth, and gave him a smile. After that, he started towards the living room.
Saga looked at Mere, and walked up next to him. Running a hand through his own hair, he mused out loud, "Fauste nii-sama likes doing that... It messes up my hair..."

No. No, obviously she hadn't told Mereneth that his sister was d... she held her tears back, forcing them behind her eyelids as the brimmed up. She couldn't tolerate what had happened; she couldn't imagine his response to it. And besides, her tongue didn't let her say the 'D' word. It was rather horrible. And as Fauste began to explain to the little boy, she looked away from them; she wasn't about to let anyone see her crying. Gywn is gone. A voice echoed from her head. Shaking her head slowly, she covered her mouth as a tear slid down her cheek and plopped onto the pavement. She was a little surprised at his answer, it seemed that he did have a heart. I did tell him that everyone had a good side... After a few deep breaths to calm herself down, she walked in after Fauste, sending a smile and a telephatic message to Mereneth, 'Go play with Saga, I'll talk to him.'
Yeah, he had a sister. Mereneth seemed rather satisfied with that explanation, but he sensed that Gywn wouldn't be back. But she was happy, right? He turned to look at his mother questioningly, only to spot her apparent unhappiness. But as she always had, she resumed to her optimistic self, and the message hit him.
He relaxed and grinned back at Saga, ruffling up his hair himself. "Yeah, it's messy but it's cool. So whatcha wanna play?"

"As hard as it was to admit it, I miss the noisy children running around the building." Fauste mused out loud, rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he flopped down on an armchair. Crossing his legs elegantly, the male placed his arms on the armrest on each side, and tapped the fingers on his left hand against the wooden armrest. The tapping sound disrupted the awkward silence in the room, but it didn't do much to reduce the tension.
He sighed, putting his hands to rest on only one side of the armrest as he leaned to one side. What was with this silence? Have the woman gone mute or something within these few weeks? And what's with all those tears? He hates it when women cry... It's so difficult to stop them once they had started.
"Say something stupid like you always do," Fauste muttered, closing his eyes. "Come on... Irritate me already! What's with that pathetic 'I want to cry' look? Haven't you always been irritatingly cheerful?"
Saga shrugged, studying Mere with eyes that were half-hidden under a mass of hair, "What would you like to play? This place is really, really big, but it's also really, really boring. There's nothing much to see... Unless you count the swimming pools in the basement, or the gaming room just down the hall."
He was stuck with an idea... It would be the first time that he's using it, but it would make for an excellent experiment. It might even cheer Mere and Mere's mummy up! That was the most important thing. It would also serve to prove that what happened that day was not made-up, but was real.
A gift, huh? It'll benefit him this time round.
"What is your sister like?"

He missed them? An eyebrow was raised at that comment. Didn't he always complain about them? But then, people were like that; you didn't know if you treasured them until they were gone. She sighed, sitting down rather akwardly on the sofa and crossed her ankles, a slipper dangling from each foot as she swung them back and forth slowly.
Something stupid? Her aquamarine eyes flashed at that comment with a rather piercing look and she glanced sharply at him. "Oh shaddup, I'm fine now." She replied in an abrupt tone, not that it helped the tension.
And irritatingly cheerful? Okay, maybe it was right, she was always optimistic, and he had treated it as some sort of disease. Something clicked into her mind as it wandered from the face of each of the Krystals in her memory. "Oh yeah, is Bast still around? I mean technically, she wasn't a Krystal, she was just Seth's..." She trailed off. It was still too much awkward. But now that she thought of it...maybe the cat might be mourning around somewhere. She desperately wanted to see something else beside Fauste, to confirm that all this wasn't just a horrible nightmare.
"Big but boring?" Mereneth tilted his head with a sigh. "Sounds like my house, it's huge, and it's kinda fun when you explore it, but then everything gets boring." He made a face. It didn't help either that he was constantly being reminded that he could not play with the antiques and the fragile items.
"My sister?" He repeated, still rather in a daze over what Fauste had said. Was it true? Sleeping? Then why couldn't he find, see her if she was near? A rather thoughtful frown appeared on his face as an image of his sister appeared in his head. "Well, she always liked yellow, and she was kinda shy but she was really a nice sister. She always offered the first cookies to others, and she was really polite. Oh! And she always wore her brown hair in two ponytails."

"Humph. You don't sound fine to me." Fauste replied coolly, leaning back against the back of the armchair. He paused briefly, as if thinking of his next sentence, before he continued, "And you must be wondering why I miss the children. I've always found them to be irritating, noisy and annoying, but just like you, once they're not here anymore, it just doesn't feel right."
He smirked lightly, "Bast? She's gone as well... It seems that the familiars' bond to their masters are so strong that they will choose to perish together with them. It's better that way, seeing that Seth will have company wherever he is now. Someone who can actually take all those cold jokes that come from his mouth."
"My house is big too, but there's lots of things to play with!" Saga nodded, smiling as a visual image of Mere's sister came to mind. He looked into Mere's eyes, and gave him a smile. There was nothing to play with, but the building itself might provide entertainment.
"How about we play hide and go seek? Since this place is so big, we'll play only in the first floor to make it fair."

"You're right." She sighed, letting her head flop back on the sofa, her red tresses flowing down to her waist. "Everything's so empty around here now. Everyone's...gone." Exhaling a deep breath, she found that a part of herself still refused to believe this had happened. Look, even Bast was gone, but she couldn't quite accept it now. Not when she seemed to have a connection with the Krystals.
"Really? Maybe I should get Mom to buy more stuff!" When she's not so upset over this matter of course, he added mentally in his brain.
"Hide and seek?" His lips began to curve. "Sure."

{Mere, Fauste and Melody will experience Saga's power first. >D}
Fauste's unreadable eyes stared at Melody, before he stood up and walked away towards the door. He can't help but wish that there was some way to lighten up the mood. However, he was at a loss as to what to do. The whole room felt like it was filled with some thick gas that made it difficult to breathe...
He walked out of the room, and stood outside, leaning against the wall. Taking out a cigarette, he was about to light it when he saw a movement out of the corning of his eye. It belonged to a familiar character, Seth. He dropped the cigarette, and looked into the room, "Huh? What is... Melody! Come here! I see Seth!"
Saga smiled, almost mysteriously, "I'll count to ten, and you'll hide! Okay, here I... Mere! Come here quick! There's someone at the end of the hall! It... It looks like Brother Seth!"
In fact the two were seeing the same person, and they were standing along the same corridor. Melody and Mere would see Seth and Bast, at the end of the hall. Bast sitting at Seth feet, and Seth with his usually silly grin on his face. When all four had gathered at the corridor, the would turn and walked to their right to a room leading to Fauste's office.

Exhaling another sigh, she twirled a strand of hair around a finger absent-mindedly. I should really stop moping around, she pondered, but Fauste's voice broke into her thoughts.
Seth?
She stood up, walking cautiously and peering out with mixed fear and happiness. "Seth?!" She screamed, mouth hanging open. "What? How? Why?" And as she glanced down, she saw Bast, and her eyes widened considerably. What was going on? Was her imagination getting the better of her?
He was getting ready to play the game when...Brother Seth? His brows furrowed in confusion as he followed. He didn't understand a thing.

Fauste muttered something under his breath, before breaking into a run after Seth. What was that boy up to? Had he really returned? Maybe his eyes were just playing tricks on him, and that all he saw just now was actually just an illusion... However, somewhere in his heart, Fauste hoped that he had really seen Seth and Bast and that everyone was back.
He turned, and saw Seth running into his office. The door closed behind him, and he saw Bast's tail vanish behind the door. He frowned as he reached the door. He paused, panting as he placed his hand on the doorknob. It felt so warm... Was it because Seth's hands had came in contact with it? Could it be that he had came back? After all, essences can't really 'die'.
Taking in a sharp breath, he turned the doorknob. There was a soft click as the door opened slightly. He waited till Melody and the kids had caught up before pushing the door open.
Inside, Seth was seated on the sofa with Bast on his lap. Gywn sat beside him, stroking the cat with a finger. When they entered, the three on the sofa looked up. Seth was grinning as Bast waved an irritated paw at Gywn, meowing loudly as the girl stroking her let out a giggle.
"Yo, dad... Miss Melody. Ah, and little Saga!" Seth smiled, "I missed you guys. Even grumpy old dad!" He let out a laugh, "You won't be hearing much from me ever again! Isn't that great? There'll be nobody to annoy you, or crack stupid jokes all the time..."
"What the hell are you taking about?" Fauste mumbled, glaring at Fauste as he rushed forward. Just as he was about to grab Seth, an invisible 'wall' stopped the man from going any further. Looking almost shocked, he quickly regained his composure and continued, "Do you know how bloody worried we had been?"
Seth clasped his hands around Gywn's ears just in time, and looked at Fauste, "Hey, it's not like we asked for it... Gywn here didn't want it either, you know? However, we've been good. Don't worry so much, it'll make you age faster! Relax..."
The girl stopped paying attention to Bast. For the first time, she looked up and smiled at her mother, "I've been fine... But you look worn out."

What? Her mind had screeched to a halt, still in dumb shock. It couldn't be. They couldn't revive...could they? Melody ran after them, behind Fauste, as she prayed with all her heart, please...please...
As the door opened, she felt her mouth open forward in shock, and tears began welling up again. Although she was grateful to Seth for takng care of her daughter, apparently because he didn't let her hear what Fauste had said, she felt a deep stirring in her heart. She almost wanted to step forward and go nearer to them, but she knew, and saw, that they could not reach them.
In response to Gywn, Melody put on a smile, and blinked back the tears, as they choked up her throat and forced her to say nothing.
Mereneth ran after them, wondering what had really happened. But as he reached the room, he ran forward to grab his sister, only to be thrown back. "Gywn!" He yelled, pounding on the invisible wall. What was going on?

Saga closed an eye and took in a deep breath. He never knew how much energy it took away from him just to perform one simple dream... He arranged for it to be just two minutes long, and although it seemed like a long time had passed, the truth was that only one minute had passed in 'real time'. Looking at the dream that he had created, he preyed silently for it to be over soon.
"Relax? You expect us to relax after you guys blo-" He stopped suddenly, taking in a deep breath to calm himself down. Standing in front of the barrier, he placed a hand on it. Behind, Seth stood up and placed his hand on the other side. "Hey, you take good care of yourself okay? Don't come back next time looking skinny and disheveled."
"Meh! I won't! I have such an adorable younger sister now as well! I'll take good care of both of us." He laughed, holding up Gywn so that she was on eye-level with Fauste. The girl gave a delighted laugh. Turning to her brother, she beckoned Seth to let her down.
"When I'm away, don't be a naughty boy, okay?" She smiled brightly, in a mock serious tone, "And take good care of Alora."
"We haven't much time left..." Seth forced a grin, "But we made the best of it... Bast will miss scratching your furniture too, Father... Now, I'm afraid we have to go."
"Please be happy, mummy." Gywn nodded, "I'll always be here, okay? So please don't cry."
The trio vanished into thin air when the four blinked. It was like they were never there... However, Fauste's expression say otherwise. Saga smiled to himself, and leaned against the wall. Closing his eyes, the darkness soon enveloped him and he suddenly felt weak in the knees. He stumbled towards Mere and fell down behind him.
"Squirt!"

Seth would take care of Gywn. That was rather reassuring. Don't cry. Yeah, sure, the little girl made it sound easy. I know what they say, I'll always be in your heart, but... Her fists clenched angrily. It wasn't fair that the Krystals sufferred because of their mistakes. Most of them were so young...like her daughter. As they vanished, her mouth opened, as if she was to call them back, but a thud brought her back to reality.
"Saga?"
Take care of Alora. A lump formed in his throat as he silently promised his elder sister. He would protect her and the other younger ones. See to it that they wouldn't disappear out of his life like she just had. He jaw set. That was it then. Immediately, his tail caught Saga as he fell, it was an instinct reaction.
"What happened, Mom?"
