"Are you really going to go out in that, Locke?"
Aquinas pulled his own sharply-tailored jacket tightly around himself and looked over his shoulder into the full-length mirror hanging behind him. Approvingly, he nodded to his reflection and turned to face Locke.
"I know you're a scholar and a brilliant mind and such, but really. That does not excuse wearing such an atrocity. You've got to build up a reputation, Locke! And that is certainly not going to do it."
"You talk far too much, Aquinas."
Locke sighed. It had been hard enough to wrangle some of the Tabula into decent clothes; they seemed naturally averse to prudence, something Locke himself liked very much. Worrying about his own clothes was far too much of a hassle.
"Well, fine then. You're never going to get a woman to look at you twice, you know. But to each his own, I suppose. We should be off. Call your manifestations, will you? Ah, I forgot that you're useless at being loud.
Come on everyone! Time to leave! I do hope you're all ready."

Amika was staring out at the window, looking outside and beyond. She wondered about the place where she was, and why did a man always seemed to bring her something. She had learned that these things were called 'clothes'.
"...He said that I should wear these as to not attract people's attention to my body." "But I do not understand why should I wear these." "They look strange..."
Amika had looked over to where the clothes were when she heard a voice calling for 'everyone'.
"Everyone?" She remembers that each time, one of the men called for 'everyone' or merely mentioned the noun, it meant something called a group. "That means that I should go then."
Hurrying quickly, she walked away from the window and to the place where the voice came from.

Tanee gave the vase a long, hard glance. It was not dirt. It did not hold dirt. It had no nutrients inside- she had bitten it and assumed that a flower could not take hold inside either, since her teeth did not even place a dent in it... So how could the flower inside still be blooming? She continued to puzzle over this until someone yelled at her--
"Come on everyone! Time to leave! I do hope you're all ready."
--she jumped and one hand slipped, knocking the lovely flowers to the ground and smashing the vase. Her face slipped into a mockery of a sad moue as she picked up the vibrant pink flowers and carried them with her to the voice. Tanee nudged the door open just a little and peered in.
"I broke my flowers," she said softly, looking as if Aquinas had just kicked her puppy. "Can we make them get better?"

Suddenly, two girls appeared in front of Aquinas.
One was quiet, stopping as she entered the room. Aquinas's attention was immediately shifted to the other as she gave him a heartbreaking, little-girl look. Slightly alarmed, he listened as she explained her flower situation.
"Uhh... flowers... we'll get you new flowers, my dear. They'll be much better. Let me take those ones off your hands."
Aquinas stretched out a hand to recieve the pink flowers, trying to look sympathetic. He really wasn't used to this kind of thing. This was Locke's job.

Theron slipped in the room as silent as a summer breeze, albeit less pleasant and a little more irritable. No, 'irritable' wasn't quite a suitable word for a virtually blank slate. By the way he itched at his clothes, it was clear that 'uncomfortable' might be a bit better. Why he was being confined now, he did not know, but their caretaker put up a valiant fight to get them on him. For the moment, they would stay, and allow him to wonder at the added heat surging through his pale and hidden limbs.
Blue eyes slid over the nearly identical females, taking them each in, before they lowered to the flowers. The broken shards lay on the ground- the Tabula poked them lightly with his toe, only covered with socks at the moment. The flowers did not look much better. A puff of air sounded through his nose, not quite a snort, and he moved on, padding past spring and summer towards the mirror at the far end. Unconsciously imposing, a shoulder was pushed into Locke's side lightly as the white-haired male attempted to peer into the reflective glass.

Tanee clutched her flowers closer and turned one shoulder to Aquinas. "But these are my flowers. Mine." Maybe she was older than Theron, but her reaction to Aquinas trying to take the flowers was bordering in paranoid protectiveness. After another moment, she said, "Will they still be pink?"

Amika stared at the flowers that the other girl had in her arms, and wondered what is so important about them. Then another man came.
"Oh, who...is that again?", thought Amika. As the other man passed through, she looked to where he was going. "Oh, over there...the same man who gave me these clothes...." Amika walked over to the same spot where both of them were and tried to see what was so important about the object located there.

Ashwin stared blankly at his arm, no longer did pink flesh glare back at him in a pale tone of off peach, a subtle layer of fine and thinly dispersed hair coming off it. He had rather liked the feel of his own skin. It was much unlike the dirt he felt beneath his feet, or the coursness of the wood on other things. It was smooth for a start, as well as firm yet easily flexible, he watched with a fascination as it rippled whenever he mved a knuckle or finger.
But now it wasn't there, so easily visible. That man, what had his name been? Oh who knew? Who cared?. Previously he had come in though and had given him some garments to put on instead. He had been most insistant that they all do so and so to Ashwin's utter disgust everyone, the group of three others, had started to. Hesitantly, yes but still on all the same. Not wanting to stand out though, he bended to their wishes for the moment, putting on the garments with an intential slowness, feeling the course fibres on each pore of skin. It was almost brutal to watch as his features took on an almost repungent look as he did so. Almost.
He looked up in time to wince as he watched a vase shatter into pieces, turning his head aside as if doing so would stop the shudder which passed through him, it didn't. He had hoped that the girl, one of an identical pair, would try and pick this up but to his dismay she simply picked up the flowers, clutching them to herself in a protective manner. It seemed a shame she should attach herself so to something that would soon come to die if she didn't relinquish them. For some twisted reason though, this bought a smile to his lips in a contented way and he raised a poised hand to his throat and plucked now at the flesh that was slightly loose there.

Locke, slightly startled at the two people both trying to look past him at the mirror, felt like the middle of a sandwich. The male one, especially, seemed to want very badly to see what was there.
Squeaking, Locke extracted himself from the tangle of Tabula and looked on.
"It's a mirror. It shows you what you look like. Aquinas is very fond of it."
Meanwhile Aquinas was becoming more bewildered by the second. The girl didn't want to let go of her flowers; alright, he'd just get her more.
"You can keep them then? I'll get you more flowers, lots of flowers!", Aquinas exclaimed, getting carried away and stretching his arms out to indicate how many flowers he would get her.
His eyes wandered and fell on the last Tabula to enter the room. He certainly didn't look happy about... well, anything. Aquinas snickered as he saw the male pluck at his clothes and remembered Locke's valiant efforts to clothe the Tabula.
"We really should get going now! Lots to do, lots to do. We've got to show you the splendour that is Odisse!"

Odisse... The name rolled easily off the tounge with a comfort that would would almost call homely. A slight curious spark hinted somewhere behind his eyes and somehow a light flicked on in his mind that if these two girls also looked much the same, was it not posible that he to looked like the male? At this he lost a slight bit of his arrogance before, his sneering at his clothes and such. What did it matter if there was another 'Ashwin' in the room who looked much the same? He wouldn't look out of place yet somehow he still felt insulted that he look like another, or was it that another looked like him?
It was then he paid attention to the others now. All had flawless pale skin, like his. All had silvery white hair and expirementally he twirled a strand of his own hair around a finger to gaze at the same silvery colour in closer detail. At last this brought him to the last physical appearance of the eyes all of whom had the same placid and languid colour of blue. this was...this was...well it was something but he had yet to know a word of which he might use to describe it. Pouting and still frustrated at these two new problems he arched an eyebrow at this 'Aquinas'. "And what such splendor does await us at Odisse?"
here at last was something he didn't mind for while they may look the same he obviously did not have the same ideals as those around him. This was but a small mercy for him though but he took it non the less.

"A mirror?", said Amika. Having heard that 'Aquinas' was the name of the other man, she made it sure as to remember for next time.
"It shows you what you look like." Amika repeated this phrase in her head various times as she looked at herself in the mirror. She had white hair, blue eyes, and the clothing that she had on. "So", thought Amika, "is this how I look like to others?"
Amika would've stayed staring at herself had Aquinas not shouted that they were to go out and on to Odisse.
"Odisse?", said Amika. "What's that?", she asked aloud. For she wanted to know, she was...curious.

Tanee smiled widely. "Lots?" Her eyes brightened and she bounced a little. Flowers made her so, so happy! So bright and happy. She liked being bright and happy like flowers... but Odisse didn't sound like a flower. Was it? That sounded like a good thing to ask.
"Is Odisse a flower?" She floofed the petals of one of her pink flowers cheerily, as if to emphasize her point. "It sounds pretty."

Hands on his hips, Aquinas smugly smiled at the girl. See, he could do anything. Looking at her face, immediately brightened by his exaggerated promise, a sharp, unpleasant feeling arose in his chest. Great. Now he'd have to actually get her some flowers. He couldn't think of anyone who'd have flowers... the last flower merchant had packed up shop and moved to another plane after Mela had sneezed and caused the shop to catch on fire.
It would be nice to meet Mela, he mused. Maybe she could fuse some flowers for them. If not, there was always Mehndi. She was always preoccupied with silly things; Aquinas had no doubt that she had something that this girl would like at any rate.
He was at once inundated with questions about Odisse. Laughing merrily at the flower girl's Odisse and flower connection, he pulled heavy silk drapes over the mirror, sensing some distress.
"Odisse is not a flower, but it is so much like one that one could be forgiven for making that mistake. It is a city, this city, and a beautiful one it is!" Aquinas strided to the door and, grasping the gilted gold handle, pulled it open in one smooth motion. "Odisse is the grandest city in the kingdom of Dieme. People from planes the world over flock to it, for it is a city of great prosperity and freedom. The King, you see, is very fond of the philosophes, and he is a believer in their rationalism. Our friend Locke here is a philosophe, and he's undertaken a project from the King himself! That's why, you see, we're all allowed to live here in this grand place. But we can't just stand here talking about it; to know Odisse is to experience Odisse. Only then can you try understand its breathtaking magnificence."
The open door belied a brilliantly white courtyard, immaculate, and basking in the rays of the sun.

At his mention of leaving Ashwin's head jerked up, breaking the mirror smooth surface of his thoughts and looking out at the new scene which seemed so beautifully placed inside this archway of such simple grandeur. It of course wasn't all that much to look at, yet so far Ashwin could see nothing else to rival this new world's wonder in the place he sat so he merely gawked with slight awe.
Little did he realise that the place he saw now was only a mere inch of the plane which waited. It was a white court yard with rays of sunlight filtering through to warm the ground and air. He could see no further but his own feet proppelled him foreward in one motion of eagerness to see beyond what was already there. forget the others if he had to, wear these stupid clothes if he had to! It struck him that perhaps this was the ideals the other saw in her fragile flowers and why she clutched at them so.
"He's right you know?" The first words to ever pass his lips formed easily enough, the form making him smile slightly, previous thoughts hurtling back all to soon. At least they did not sound alike. "It may not be a flower itself butne could easily imagine that many flowers would bloom out here in weather conditions such as these." This, directed at that girl who seemed so attached to her flimsy petals of bright hues.
