With the impending coming of spring the waters are slowly getting warmer and more and more fish are noticeable near the caves. After the huge winter celebration the herd has depleted some of their fish stores and so Zita has announced that in the middle of March there will be a herd wide hunt. All adult mers are invited to go, male and female. There will also be a small prehunt for the younger members of the herd (they'll get to hunt small fish). The herd will be hunting everything from the easy (and relatively harmless) tuna to swordfish and shark.
Everyone is spending more and more time in the main cave these days talking about the hunt. Many are declaring their desire to go along, and the youngsters are pestering their elders to let them go. This is where people are announcing their intentions to join the hunt, and a few of the bold are asking Zita if she will name them hunt leader.
This is an exciting time for the herd, so please rp accordingly! If one of your mers is interested in joining, have them speak up! And certainly have them ask Zita if they wish to be hunt leader.
There will be in and out of character rewards for people that roleplay (even if they don't go on the hunt on the days of the hunt there will be things going on in the main cave for the non-participants), so I hope a lot of people will get involved. The actual hunt date is yet to be decided but will probably be the week after this weekend.

Zita smiles warmly when she sees Corydon swimming towards her. She nods. "I think it's going to be. I hope we catch enough to have a fantastic feast when everyone gets back." She grins. "I'll add you to the list of hunters going on the trip," she nods.

"Well she would be most welcome to if she wants," Zita grins. "I can't wait for it to start. We haven't had a proper hunt and feast in such a long time. Since before Trident left with the others on their search."

Zita nods and looks around. "Hopefully more hunter will come along," she says, a little warily. "We need a larger group before we can get going."

*The Peaches (duely named so), waft into the main cave, led by Mer Cheval*
"We'd all like to participate in the hunt," she whinnies. "In exception to myself and Marlin, right?"
Marlin nodded, "After adopting out my babies, I need to make time for the one I can care for."
"And I need to care for my babies," Mer Cheval sighed. "I'm afraid I just can't take care of all of them.. I'll be adopting some out as well."
"But the rest of us will hunt," Lantern stated.

Zita nods excitedly. "Yes, I forgot to say, both of a set of parents with young colts and fillies cannot participate in the hunt," she agrees, nodding. "It is too important to care for your young ones." She smiles thinking of her own. "But as for the rest of you I'm glad you can come," she smiles. "I can't wait to get going so we can get the food back for the feast!" she exclaims.

"She's adorable," Marlin smiles at Flounder. "How many more Mer-Horses should we have before starting the hunt?"
*Kazahana nuzzles against Citrouille as Shuuki snorts*
"Enough with the courting already," he proclaims. "I'm ready to hunt!"

Zita chuckles at Shuuki's outburst and grins. "I think it'll be starting soon, we should have enough to start out and if anyone wants to come along they'd be welcome to!" She looks around the room. "Is anyone willing to lead the hunt?" she asks the hunters. She and her brother are somewhat young still and she doesn't want to admit it but hunting has never been her specialty.

*Suuki flows over to Zita*
"I volunteer to lead the hunt," he snorts. "I am younger than you, but I think I'll do a good job."
*Philippa pulls down some seaweed and makes a bed for Citrouille and beckons her to lie down. Philippa swims over to a bowl and grabs Citrouille a piece of fish*
"She won't be going on the hunt either," Philippa said. "Her babies should be born soon, and it probably won't be good for her to go through all that chasing."
Marlin swims over. "I'll take care of her Philippa, besides, I need to stay here and watch over Pixa. Go and join the hunt."

Zita beams at Suuki, happy that someone offered to lead. "That would be wonderful!" she nods. "I think you'll do a marvelous job, as well," she agrees. "Would you like to start out soon?"
She smiles at the mother-to-be, and grins, wondering where her own two, now adults, are.
