The purple alpha sat quietly in the forest, his eyes shut and ears held up high. It had been a while since he had let himself enjoy his pack lands, just having the time to sit and listen to his surroundings was a very rare event. Busy as a beaver, as Kirra would say.

The alpha had another reason for this little adventure into the forest, although it was defiantly not the main one. Kirra had informed him of finding wolf tracks after coming home from scouting, and they were not of their pack. The information had puzzled him, but he was not exactly on the offensive. If corned, he would fight and be vicious, but the alpha preferred talking things out and being civil over being brutish and fighting his way through things. So he listened, his eyes shut to help block out any other distractions, and listened.

River had came across the lands accedently. She had hidden her pups away and was looking for somewhere to give them both sanctuary. She wanted them away when she helped Ren finish her job.

She was aware of other wolves in these lands and her senses were warning her about trouble that could occur if these were packlands and the Alpha wasn't too kind towards those who were strangers. She just had to hope things would be ok.

Keeping her head low she looked around, stopping every now and then wondering whether to check on her two remaining pups. She couldn't bear to loose another one. It had pained her to stay with the two remaining pups when one decided to wander off but then what choice did she have?

Hopefully she would find someone soon, someone nice who would look after her children for a while. Thats all she wished, sanctuary for her children.

An ear swivel and a deep intake of air, and Maverick stood up, opening his eyes for the first time in a while. Apparently sitting and waiting for the new comers to just walk into him, wasn't working, not that he really thought it would once he thought about it. So he decided to check out the area that Kirra had told him about.

A few moments later after a good dash through his well known forests, he stood before the tracked area. Amber eyes searched the ground, trying to get an idea of what exactly he would be getting into. An adult it seemed, a bit older than he he figured as he placed his paw next to the print, but the other prints confused him. They were small, much smaller than he had figured, and they seemed to belong to two different wolves, correction, pups.

He sniffed the ground, wandering around the tracked area as he took in the scents, or what was left of them at least. So three, and from what he could tell, it was a mother or a father with their two pups. With a parents protection thrown into the mix, he defiantly would be on a bit more of an edge when he finally came face to face with these new comers.

She stopped and looked around, she had to go and check on her pups. She had left them hidden not far from where the other wolf was and though she didn't know he was there the mother inside of her felt on edge and she had to go back for them.

As she reached their hiding place she caught the scent of another wolf. She wasn't about to let anyone find her pups so she walked straight past them listening for any bad noises coming from them. The male wolf stood out somewhat so she saw him easily.

Bowing her head and tail a little into a more submissive mode she walked slowly towards him. He held himself as an alpha and though alot of wolves did when they weren't she wasn't about to risk it herself.

"Hello there." She spoke softly and cautiously. She wasn't going to do anything that could get her babies in trouble.

The alpha's sable ears perked as he heard the other's voice. A tense feeling ran through his body, but he ignored it, pushing the automatic reaction of whipping around and snarling at her to the back of his mind. Instead, he picked his head up from its lowered position and turned slowly around to face her. The light brown and sable swirled female before him made him wary, for nothing was more protective than a mother, but he wouldn't let his worries show on his face.

A friendly smile crossed his maw as he took a few steps toward her, keeping the steps harmless with no air of aggression, not a hard thing for the easy going wolf to do, but he wasn't going to screw up at this rate, he still needed to speak with her.

" Hello to you as well." No pups, so that meant that she was hiding them, and it was very possible that they were in the area. " And who may you be?" He didn't really know what else to say, 'hey whats up,' seemed too dopey for a first time meeting, and ' what the hell are you doing in my lands,' was just not wat he would say. So introductions seemed fitting.

She kept her head low in the submissive posture, anything to avoid a fight.

"I am River, I have travelled this way with my two sons who are close by looking for somewhere safe to leave them while I return to fight along side a close friend." She had given alot of information but he held himself like an Alpha and if that were the case she was better off giving him information, if he turned out not to be she knew how to lie her way out of things.

She looked up at him, raising her head slightly. "May I ask your name and where it is that I am." She spoke softly still, she didn't want to threaten the wolf, that was the last thing she wished to do.

Maverick eyed her submissive posture, while it showed him that she had no means of fighting, he didn't really like seeing it, odd as it seemed. But then again he was probably just used to his head strong sister.

River? Some place safe? So refugees of sorts? Perhaps his pack was getting a bit more known for what it stood for? Either way, he would feel better talking to her a bit more, instead of just offering the help she was searching for, and trotting off with the pups. No way, things didn't particularly work out that way, no matter how good of heart you are.

" My name is Maverick, and I am alpha of the Shadowsong Pack. Where you are, is in the lands of said pack." It sounded snooty, but again he didn't quite know how to word what he said without making it so.

She sat down and nodded her head, he was an Alpha then and these were packlands. That seemed to be good enough for her.

"It is a pleasure to meet you." She smiled softly and then let out a sigh. "Please I know it is alot to ask of someone but I need somewhere safe for my pups. I do not know what lies ahead for me but I promised I would stand beside my friend till the end and I do not ignore my word to someone." She took a breath and looked to the ground.

"My children mean the world to me and I do not wish any harm upon them which is why i have been looking for shelter, somewhere for them to stay untill I return. We were then going to find a pack to join...." She left it not finishing her sentance. She was in a way asking to join the pack when she returned. He seemed nice and yes she knew nothing of what she was getting herself into but she didn't have the time to worry about that at the moment.

She was indeed asking for his help, and by the looks of it asking for a new home as well. Maverick watched River quietly, thinking over what she had just said. He would me more than willing to help her and her two pups out, and the idea of some new pack members made him happy as well. He hadn't automatically said yes because he wondered what Kirra and Tasubaa, the pack Betas, would think. Sure, he was Alpha and in a way what he said goes, but he trusted their opinions over all else so it still made him think.

But why did he even need to think about it? Tasubaa and Kirra both knew that their pack was a pack for just this occasion, to give those who had no where else to go, a home and a family. With this thought rushing through his head, he knew they wouldn't object.

He turned his auburn eyes back to River after he came to this realization. "Your pups have our protection, they will be treated as a part of this pack. And upon your return, all three of you will have a place in this pack," he smiled softly," if you choose to accept it."

River started to feel a little awkward as he took his time to answer her. owever when she did she smiled with relief. They had a home, she now just had to hope that the pack were good.

"Thank you and I do accept unless fate will stop me returning and only death will stop me coming for my children." She wasn't lieing and her voice grew a little more serious.

Standing up she turned a little. "My children are over here." She then started to wander back towards where they had curled up to sleep. She smiled, they were just so beautiful.

"The blue one is Ocean and the other is Dark, they are my sons." She curled around them both and licked at the two pups lovingly. They were all she had left to love, things had been something of an interesting ride for River and now things seemed to be turning out a little better. Maybe she could rest after this and enjoy pack life.

Maverick returned the smile, padding after the wolf as she lead him to her pups. He had been correct in assuming that they were close by, and was very happy to know that she trusted him enough to see them.

As he caught sight of the pups he smiled, marveled at their odd colours. It always made him happy to know that he wasn't the only oddly coloured wolf around. " Ocean and Dark, hansom names to fit hansom pups.
He watched as River gave them the love only a mother could give, "They will surely be protected." He nodded, as if to confirm his words, for he did mean it.

He did ponder on how things would be with two pups romping around, he chuckled at the thought of Kirra having to watch them. She was so serious, and he knew these pups would change that when they would be around her.

She was happy at the way he spoke as it made her feel safer and helped her to know that her children would be safe, if only all three of them were here, then things would be so much better.

"Thank you so much. My son, he is older then these two, his name is Chipmunk I shall probably send him here if I see him. You can't hide anything from him as he can see right into you." She laughed a little remembering the strange feeling of him seeing all her memories.

"Anyway he shall be about soon I hope. Maybe even with some other friends of mine. Thank you Maverick and I do hope the boys won't be too much trouble. Thank you so much." She smiled at him softly, feeling a little uneasy about leaving her boys with a stranger but she would send Chip here once she found him.

Maverick realized suddenly that there were two pups and only one of him. He would need help transporting the pups back home. But Kirra was around, she was always scouting around him, a younger sister over protective of her "older brother."

Maverick arched a brow looking up at River. " Your other son can see right into me? You mean like, my soul or something?" He had heard mere rumors form his other Beta about said wolves who could read your minds and know everything about you by just a simple look, but he had figured that the other wolf had been pulling his leg, he was young at the time. "Interesting."

His confused frown soon turned into a smile, however, and he inclined his head slightly toward River. " My pleasure, the more the merrier. And they won't be trouble at all, pups are pups, I was pretty rascally when I was their age. He made his way out of the hole and looked around, wondering where would be best to direct his call for Kirra.

" I will call Kirra to assist me, so you can go on your way if you wish. " He smiled, trying to reassure River. If she needed to get things done, she would need to get on her way, or so he figured.

River smiled, "Something like that." She listened as he spoke and was grateful for the help he was willing to give her.

"Thank you so much for all of this. I will have to get on my way, I don't have time to stay around though I shall be back as soon as possible, thank you so much!" She bowed her head thankfully and turned to leave.

"Thank You!" She smiled once more and turned to give her pups a 'kiss' before she left.

"I won't be long my babies." She nudged them both as they slept and reluctantly left them. She didn't want to leave them, she really didn't want to but she had to for their safety.

"Thank you Maverick, I shall be back as soon as I can." With that she turned to leave, she ran as fast as she could. She had to make sure that she got back to Ren.
