Hmmm... How much do you think I should spend on a cosplay?
I don't want to put too much money into it, but I really want it to look good. >.< Wigs and supplies are expensive.
Is 200$ a good amount for the whole cosplay?

since your doing a chi cosplay I will say anywhere from $0 - $100
I am doing May from guilty Gear, mostly because I have ton of materials to use. I bought some fabric to make the costume, and to make it better, I have hundreds of orcas. each with an individual name.
I tend to use what I have then see what I need on the list. right now I need some boots, which I might be able to use regular boots that I always use and use left over fabric on them.
I also have to use a bag since I tend to carry things and buy things. but the important thing to do before its too late,. tax returns, and new job.
if you are willing to spend up to $200 then yes its a good idea. just make sure that you use that cosplay again a few times so it doesn't go to waste.
my costume from last year never did. I only spent about $50 on. i had an older wig that was a bit messy ( I need a new one, and a head to keep it on) I found a piece of cloth that was like a lunar cloak, and to make it better I found an OMFG for about $40 custom made. the rest I had in my closet.

more specifically, how much do you think I should spend on a wig... I know I have another topic about the wigs... but I've seen a lot of great custome chii wigs, but they're all really pricey.
Would $50 be a good amount for a wig?

depends on the quality, but I would say try to go with 30-50 range. so sure. I honestly dont think its a good idea to spend that much money on a wig.

The wig I use for my Namine cosplay I purchased for under $20 and it works terrifcally. Then again, it depends on if you have to get it styled or not and then the quality, which can cost some money.

For only a single cosplay? I would definatly stay below $150. You can make a great looking costume for a fair price if you look hard enough for good deals.
