Aushi slipped through the swamplands carefully and quietly, something she'd practiced doing all of her life. Yes, the brown female was rather exclusive and did not like interacting with the others of her pride much. It wasn't for reasons like being antisocial or she was too mean or anything like that... no... Aushi was shy. So shy in fact that she even avoided her siblings most of the time! She didn't know how to act at all, and never did she pay attention to the adults around her.
So right now... she was in a rather large dilemma. Though she still felt overly awkward around others she knew she would be going on her naming quest soon... and she felt lonely and terribly afraid. She didn't want to leave the comforts of this shadowy homeland! Her orange eyes slid along the marshy area, her footsteps pausing. She let out a deep sigh and hung her head.
"What am I supposed to do?" Her voice was tiny but not shrill, just quiet.

“Aushi?”
Soo called out with a soft smile as she slowly made her way to her sister. Though they didn’t talk much Soo didn’t have any hard feelings toward her. She understood that Aushi was shy- Soo was once too. It some times took longer for others to shed that protect layer of skin they wore… and she knew that soon Aushi would.
Everyone did.
“Aushi! What are you doing? I was looking for you early today- I wanted to ask you... if you had seen mother lately?”
Soo knew that mother had left the pride to travel the lands, but she often wondered if she had missed her visits here. Maybe she had stopped by and Soo didn’t know? Moving her forehead along her sister’s side Soo purred softly and smiled, showing affection anyway she could. She loved her sister after all, even though they didn’t talk much. They were still family, still blood.

Aushi squeaked as she heard her name, her eyes frantically stumbling around the swamps before landing on her sister. Her facial expression became embaressed because she gave such a start and she ducked her head slightly. "Hi Soo." She said, offering her sister a faint smile before she breifly bumped heads with her.
Soo had been looking for her? She seemed to get even more embaressed by this. "S..sorry.. I've been hiding away most of the day..." Oh she sounded so pathetic! Mother? Aushi frowned and shook her head silently. No, she hadn't seen their mother in a long time. Nor had she seen their father or two brothers. She felt like a hermit... and it was beginning to make her feel a fool.

“I see.”
Soo smiled weakly. She could tell that her sister was uneasy with her actions so she moved herself back slowly and withdrew her act of kindness and care. It would take time before she was able to really get close to Aushi, this was a fact that she just had to live with. She wanted to be a better sister, after all... Aushi was all the she had left now that her mother and brothers were gone.
A soft sigh passed her chest as she smiled and sat herself down. Her paws were laced in a thin layer of mud.
“I see. Well... how have you been? I don’t see you much..”

Aushi studies Soo's paws, wondering if it broke her siblings' hearts that she was never around. That she hid most of the time when she knew they'd be in the same area... maybe. Probably. "I've been alright... " She finally looked up at met Soo's gaze, she offered another soft smile. "A little lonely and a little apprehensive... our naming quests will probably start soon.. right?" Her head tilted slightly.

“I suppose...”
Soo spoke weakly. Things were so awkward with them. She didn’t want to say anything to startle her sister... she didn’t want her to feel the need to hide herself any longer.
“I really... don’t know though, mother never... talked about it.”
Oh, she was so lost right now. A naming quest, a new week... she was older now... maybe it was about time she saw the world. She didn’t want to though, she felt safe here-- she felt safe within this place, laced in mud and dry grass.
“I-I’m fearful about it all.”

Soo was afraid too? That made Aushi feel much better. Hesitently she moved forward, brushing her sister in another light nuzzle. "I don't know anything about the quests either... and I'm just as afraid." She whispered. They could be strong together! Though Aushi wanted to flee from her sisters company right then... she felt the awkwardness too, she wished it would go away.

“We will have to speak to someone that knows about it all, then. I am sure someone could help us... when the time is right.”
She smiled softly as her sister nuzzled her. It was such a nice change! She loved affection so, and gaining it from her sister was such a sweet gift! But she felt it too, the sensation of awkwardness that grew between them with every word they spoke. Someday that would have to change, but until then Soo would continue to let it pass. She wanted badly to have one family member close to her still.
“I wonder... what it will be like. I have never really left this place.”

Ah! But they would not know that time... what if no one sent them on their naming quests? What if they were to stay 'children' for the remainder of their lives? She shuddered lightly and looked away from her sister, her eyes growing sad as they rolled comfortably over the swamp plants and life. "I do not know anything of the world outside of here.." She said slowly, ears pinning back. "Have you heard any stories of it?"

“I have heard and seen a few times. I left to find brother not too long ago.”
Soo felt rather restless now and a bit on edge with all the talk about leaving for some name quest. Her mother never talked about it with her. She felt so lost. Moving herself to stand the lioness sighed and slowly moved away from her sister.
“I think, I think I need to clear my head for a while, sister. I will return shortly.”
With that Soo took off, padding away with little regard for her sisters feelings. Right now she just couldn’t find the right words to form. She didn’t understand why life had to be this way.
It was all her mothers fault.
She didn’t understand her pride because of her mother.
