Tommy gave out a sigh as he got off the intercom with the labs. He had finally done it. He had swallowed his pride and asked for the thing they knew he was going to have to ask for sooner or later. To his dismay, Victor's bed felt no better than the floor he slept on for so many months. It just didn't feel...right. And he knew why...he...the labs...everyone who looked at him could guess why he never got much sleep.
That's why he asked for the pullup bar to be installed in his room. Just one step closer to giving in completely to the labs.
With a shake of his head, he exited Victor's duplex and crutched himself outside. A thought occured to him...he needed someone to talk to...a friend he hadn't seen in a while. He glanced over at Richard's duplex, wondering what the old man was up to. Maybe he'd be in the mood for some cards...
Tommy began crutching his way over toward Richard's duplex, a vague thought nagging at his mind. How long has it been since he changed? Was that the reason he hadn't seen his friend in so long? His pulse quickened as he approached the door, fears taking root and spreading through his mind. He lifted up his right hand/wing slowly and rapped it against the door.

Richard meanwhile wasn't doing much of anything in particular. She was waiting till it was dark outside to head to the cafe to grab some food as she had run out this morning. Her body still stressed from the change had begun to protest and Richard found herself day dreaming about juicy steaks she'd help herself to once it got dark. It was better than dwelling on the image in the mirror.
Meanwhile she was doodling in some notebooks, she might have worked on the newsletter but she had accidentally left her laptop at Dee's. When the knock sounded she instinctively called, "Who's there?" before realizing it. The voice was far higher than Richard's usual baritone voice. She cursed herself for speaking. At least the door was locked this time.

Tommy glanced over to the setting sun, wishing it would go down faster...it bothered his eyes. His attention was turned back to the door though when he heard an oddly familiar, yet horribly wrong voice come from within. With a frown, he responded cautiously. "Um...it's Tommy...er...Tommy Christian. Is ah...is Richard in?"
Possiblilities flew through his mind as he tried to identify the source of the voice. It sounded an awful lot like...no...stop it...the change couldn't have been that drastic...just...see what happens.

He didn't think it was him! Richard covered her mouth in horror. She hadn't realized it was that bad. She stared at the door. Tommy was here... No No No No. It was too soon she couldn't handle this yet!
She had to make him go away! She shift her voice hoping it would sound like the old Richard. "Um Tommy, I'm busy could you come back later?" He didn't sound like the old Richard at all, it sounded like a woman talking a voice that was far too low. She'd over shot it.

Tommy blinked...hard...Oh no...nononono...He'd heard about someone changing in that way before...but that was just a rumor, right? They can't really change you...that...much. Bullshit. With a sigh, he placed his forearm on the door and rested his head on it. "Richard...what the hell, man...listen to me for a minute. I don't give a s**t what you look like now...alright? You're still you...no matter what the labs did...You hearing me?"
He sighed once more as a buried memory bubbled to the surface. "Trust me on this though: it doesn't do well to bottle it all up. You'll end up standing over a some still breathing animal...lapping up its lifeblood, wanting only more. And you'll only have yourself to blame for that, because no matter what the labs do...you're always in control of yourself. It's your choice...and will always be your choice on how to deal with it."

Richard growled through the door. Even that sounded a little different in tone. She didn't appreciate being preached too. "Who said any thing about bottling it up?" She raked her claws across the surface of the desk and stood. The claws themselves had changed too, larger and far more sharp now that they were concealed within fleshy sheaths.
She let herself be angry at Tommy, it was better than depression. "Fine I'll open the damn door but not a word. Not a single god damn word!" Tommy could hear some one move towards the door.

Tommy quirked a brow at the growl, wondering for the umpteenth time why he insisted on throwing himself at the predators of the island. Alec, Joli, Zach, and now this... But Richard couldn't be that far gone, could he? With a groan, he pushed himself from the door and crouched back to his normal "standing" position, his knuckles wrapped in what used to be his BDU's, and waited.
Tommy wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but when you're expecting anything you're never surprised.

Richard turned the handle, it clicked as the electronic lock disarmed, then he stopped. She licked the back of her hand and pushed the hair out of her eyes, the now thickened and almost furry tail curled to the side in a nervious motion. Once she opened that door there would be no going back. People He had known would know her fate. She gave a frustrated little meow like sound and then swung the door open.
Richard's bright green eyes glared at Tommy, studying him for any reaction as she stood in the doorway. She wore an old pair of pants that fit when Richard first arrived her current ones were too small, a belt held them on her waist but had the unfortunate consequence of showing her new hips. The shirt was a blue collared polo shirt worn underneath her jacket. It was straining at the chest with breast that quivered on the mark between C and D sizes.

Tommy's keen ears heard the hesitation after the electronic lock opened. He didn't make any movement, he was just intent on masking his face of any emotion. And then he saw...her. The first thing that struck him were the eyes...those bright green eyes burning with an intensity he hadn't seen before. He had to force himself not to flinch away from those predator's eyes. Next was the face...almost nothing left of the former Richard there...and then the rest of her body. In all honesty, keeping a placid face wasn't too difficult mostly due tot he fact that he was dumbstruck. The changes in Richard's body were so severe, he didn't kno what to think...or how to react.
A thousand different thoughts struck him as he tried to mentally cope with what he was seeing. Try to make light of it? Knowing Richard, he'd probably get smacked again by those tentacles...no emotion and just don't say anything? It'll seem like he doesn't care...with a sigh he gave up. He said the first thing that came to his head.
"...rough week, huh?" he said, sadly.

Richard scowled, "Understatement of the year, Tommy." Her voice softened on the name. "Come on in." Richard had been resting on her heels but whe got ready to move she pushed herself onto her toes, gaining about three inches of height in the process. She turned around slowly, tail lashing behind her to help balance. Then she walked deeper into the duplex, toward the desk. Stuck between ditigrade and plantigrade feet, She walked as if she was wearing very high heels, turning the walk into an absurdly looking saunter.
She sat heavily in the chair and looked back to Tommy. The room was very dimly lit.

Tommy moves his head out of the way since he was more than likely on level with the tail. A few hairs that had shed off found their way into his extremely large nose. It turns out bats can and do sneeze. When he finally recovered, he got an eyeful of a sauntering Richard in all her feminine glory. He took this brief moment in which Richard wasn't looking to let out a few choice faces. His left eye twitched somewhat while his jaw hung open while he mouthed, "Holy ******** s**t."
Tommy realized he was still standing in the doorway and crutched himself inside, closing the door behind him. At least it was dark in the room. The dim light relieved his stressed eyes and he let out a heavy breath. A few bursts of echolocation went with this breath.
Tommy was able to see everything...he was able to peice together the torment Richard had been going through for the past few days. The claw marks gouged into the wood said enough...with a sigh he looked back up to Richard. "When did it happen?"

The claw marks actually weren't new, Richard had been using his desk as a scratching post since the day he got claws. There were certainly fresher and deeper furrows in the last two days but in general the duplex was intact. Richard's body had not been up to the task of throwing a tantrum and breaking things like last time. Her chest was simply too sore. Depression was her companion this time around, not anger.
Richard's small hands fell into her lap and knit together, she had been using them almost more than her original hand, they were far less clumsy. It was one of the positive things about the transformation, with them her handwriting was far more legible. "It was about two days ago I think. I dunno, I've been sleeping alot." She yawned showing that her human teeth were completely gone, replaced by wicked fangs. "I'm out of food."

Tommy's eyes fell to the smaller, yet recognizably more developed hands at Richard's lap. He couldn't help being creeped out by them...it was just odd looking. What really worried him though, was how much Richard had changed on the inside. Tommy's father was an OBGYN, and he had told Tommy of how hormones affected women...he was wondering just what affect that had on a brain which was used to thinking like a male for the past few decades. For a moment he was worried he may one day lose his friend...but that thought was quickly brushed aside...he didn't want to think about that.
He eyed the fangs, wondering if that's what he looked like...Tommy himself had been losing quite a few of his teeth, the only real ones left were those used to slice open veins. "Well..." he said with a release of breath, "From what I can see you've got two options...one, you can get some fresh night air to freshen yourself up 'n then go get something to eat...or if you don't feel ready for that yet..." he grinned,"you could always just ask your crippled bat friend to go out and grab you some surf'nturf from chow hall for ya."

"Freshen myself up?" Richard snarled a little as a warning for a brief second. However her rage was forgotten at the idea of some food. How the hell would Tommy carry anything anyway. Richard looked at her dubiously, unable to prevent the long tongue from flicking out and running along her short muzzle.
"Well if you wouldn't mind grabbing me a steak for me, I wouldn't say no. But..." Richard's green eyes fell to Tommy's hands or lack of them. "How do you plan on doing that?"

Tommy frowned at the snarl, a little apprehensive. He wasn't sure what he said that offended her...the night air always freshened himself up...he liked the cool feel of the wind against his skin.
As she seems to calm down some, his slight grin returned. "You ye of little faith...I've done more with less. You forget, I once took down a red dragon .oO(CR of twenty or something...heheh). I think I can handle a food run."
