Delano wandered about the forestlining, taking time to himself but close enough he could see Aruna and the foals and easily reach them if trouble arised. He was feeling many mixed emotions about everything. This whole ordeal had made him grow to hate Rahu. Not just for getting his mate pregnant, but also his behaviour. The more he was subjected to Rahu's presence the more his hate for the dark stallion grew. Why could it not have been his foals? and a nice happy family, instead of this? Why did this have to happen? He was lost without answers.

The young foal shivered. He was scared. He was young, barely a few days old. He had been left on his own to fend for himself and was nearly starved to death. Where was his mother? and why had she left him? He rustled about and laid down oce more, curled into a little ball, hiding in the tall grasses from the unfamiliar sights and sounds of this world.

It was jsut then Delano's ears perked as he heard a soft rustling in the tall grass. Stepping forward to investigate, he sniffed at the air. He didn't pick up any scents of predators but he did pick up the scent of another soquili. Moving forward some more he peered into the grass, trying to find the source of the sound. Within moments he found what appeared to be a young colt. A wind colt at that. White with red markings and strange blue runic markings on his front legs. Where was his mother?? He should not be alonhe like this for predators to find. He would make an easy meal. "Where is your mother small one?" He spoke soft and gently.

The foal looked up with frightened eyes at the tall red stallion. He wasn't able to speak too well having not learned anything at all. The stallion's gentle voice soothed him somewhat though. He shrugged, showing he was not sure. He tried to stand, wobbling on weak legs. He was weakened from lack of nourishment and food.

Delano shook his head. It was obvious now the foal was abandoned, and half starved to death. What kind of mother could abandon a foal and leave him for dead? "Hmmm don't worry young one. I will look after you then. Do you have a name?"

The foal looked at him, barely understanding him and simply shook his head. No, his mother had not even named him. She had just left after his first meal.

Delano sighed softly. The poor thing...to be left like this. He thought to himself a few moments. He would need to get this foal to Aruna. She had milk and could act as a surrogate mother. Perhaps they could adopt him as their own and raise him. "well then, I shall give you one. You shall be named Chikotae. Come with me, I will take you to my mate. She has milk and can feed you. " He softly nudged the foal along, as he wobbled on dwindled little legs. Coming into the clearning Delano stood a few feet from Aruna now, with the foal in front of him, standing weakly. He hoped she would accept the foal, but her good nature and caring for others assured him she would. "Aruna?"

Aruna was watching her baskets fondly, ears twitching every once and a while to make sure her mate wasn’t too far away. She couldn’t find it in herself to hate these foals; it wasn’t their fault to begin with, and well, they were a part of her. It was times like these she really needed the strength of her mate, and the father, being nowhere to be found at the moment, wasn’t exactly helping with the situation… but at least Rahu the Stubborn Idiot finally agreed to help her care for the children. She nudged them all gently, whickering softly to soothe them should they become restless. “Rest well, my little ones…” she whispered.

She perked up when she heard Delano’s voice, and smiled brightly. “Lano!” she exclaimed cheerfully, before her golden eyes found the small, frightened looking Wind colt next to him. She looked at him curiously. “Who is this young one?” He looked underfed… the poor thing. Her motherly instincts took over, and she nickered to the foal. “Come, little one. I’ll be your mother,” she said, not realizing she was answering Delano’s unasked question. She would never abandon a foal to live on its own; it was cruel, and she knew what foals could grow up to be like if they managed to somehow survive… a.k.a. Shimshek. Shaking her head, she looked at the foal kindly.

Delano's gaze met hers and then glanced downwards to the foal. "I found him. He was abandoned and left to starve to death. There is no sign of his mother. " His eyes glanced back up to meet Aruna'sgolden orbs, his eyes shining with concern and hope that Aruna would accept the foal and care for him. "He needs someone to care for him and raise him. I was hoping .....I was hopingg we coul adopt him as our own. Yours and mine. He is starving and needs nourishment." Delano leaned his head down and nudged the small foal forward towards Aruna.

The small white and red foal looked at Delano and then back to the golden mare before him. He was a bit confused but didn't need much prodding. He eagerly moved forward towards Aruna when she called to him, and to the life giving milk she carried. He eagerly accepted her kindness and fed on one of the nipples on her belly. She was warm and her fur soft and soothing to him.

Delano watched his mate with this foal and a kind, gentle smile crossed his face. "I hope you don't mind but I amed huim Chikotae. He didn't have a name and he doesn't seem to know how to communicate yet."

It felt strange and wonderful all at the same time as she felt young, eager lips suck upon her belly's healthy, life-giving milk. Her eyes softened as she stared at the small foal, listening to Delano's short tale of how he'd found the foal. "The poor thing... what crazed mother would abandon her own foals like that?" she whispered, somewhat angrily, but blinked when Delano mentioned something about adopting the colt. "...Adopting?" she repeated, and then looked back down at the foal. She could feed the colt... she was already a mother...

She scanned her mind carefully. Would it hurt to have another foal? No, she decided. It wouldn't hurt to care for another foal, and Delano seemed to have taken to this colt already. She smiled at Delano. "I don't mind if we adopt him, Lano. Besides, we could use some life and joy around here..." she said the last part under her breath, golden eyes becoming dull and distant for just a moment, but they became focused again when she heard something interesting. "You named him Chikotae? A lovely name for a handsome little colt... he looks almost like you, which is strange." She laughed with silent mirth.

"But no matter. Ah, he can't communicate yet? Well, you'll just have to teach him to, won't you?" she looked at her mate with a wicked grin, then shook her head. "He will learn, and I'm sure he will become great and noble and handsome and loving as you. I will try my best to help raise him, but I'm afraid my personality may twist poor Chikotae for the worse!" She was joking, of course, but she didn't mind. Delano looked like he could use some cheering up, and she needed some too, especially after what had recently happened...

Delano's smile grew bigger as Aruna agreed to adopt the foal as their own. It might also help heal things between them as well. They would raise him to be strong and proud and treat others with respect. Delano moved towards Aruna and nuzzled her softly. "That we could, but I would request one thing my love." His face went serious a moment. "I would rather if Rahu did not have anything to do with raising this one. He has rights to his foals, but I don't want him raising Chikotae. Please understand. I want to be there as his adopted father, not that black devil of a stallion. Heaven forbid the foal would turn out like Rahu."

He watched as the foal fed and seemed to nuzzle into her as he ate eagerly, satisfying the awful hunger pangs he must have been feeling. "Hmmm he indeed has some similar colors but he is not a unicorn. He almost looks like my colors inversed but he is missing my black stockings, mane and tail." Delano chuckled as he looked the foals colors over. "He has these interesting symbol markings on his front legs. What do you suppose they mean?"

Delanmo laughed as Aruna suggested he teach the foal to speak. "Indeed you know I will. We will teach him to treat the ladies right" He winked at Aruna.

She returned his nuzzle affectionately, having missed seeing his smile and his laughter the past several days. She loved his smile the most; it was always so radiant, so proud and loving, and she never wanted to lose it; ever. And... with Chikotae, maybe things would heal between them... she hoped they would. "A request?" she wondered. She couldn't help it when he told her what the request was; she laughed. "Of course! Chikotae will be ours, my love; only ours. Rahu, of course, has right to his foals, but Chikotae? He is yours. Ours. But mostly yours," she teased at the end. "I mean, you're the one who found him!"

Laughing as her golden eyes danced, she nuzzled Chikotae towards his new father. "Chiko, listen to me. We are now your parents. We will never abandon you, my little one... if you ever despair, feel sad, or even happy, you can always come to us." She wondered if the little colt would understand her, but she meant those words she spoke with all her love, combined with Delano's, of course. She could tell he already loved Chikotae like his own son. "Well, he's no unicorn, but he most definitely has your colors but the black stockings, mane, and tail. I wonder where he came from?"

She smiled brilliantly. Delano's laugh. How she had missed it. "Hah! You mean you will... oh, don't tell me you've been dallying with other mares!" she gave him a mock wicked, (somewhat real) jealous look before shaking her head and laughing. "I mean, I am imperfect, but you, my love, are completely perfect. You're so noble and true... and you're mine," she emphasized. "So, if there's another mare out there eyeing you, I'm going to have to teach her a lesson or two. Maybe three." She chuckled, eyes sparkling with true joy since the most recent downfall in her screwball of a life.

Delano smiled. He was glad to hear her words. Their foal. He liked the sound of that. "Oh but he is yours as much as he is mine, after all I have no milk to feed him with, or nipples to suckle for that matter." He grinned teasingly. Chikotae was really a blessing to them. He needed them as much as they needed him. In a way, they saved each other. It was nice to see Aruna smile again. To feel her closeness and her soft touch. He had dearly missed that, he missed her.

Chikotae's eyes glanced up at the two would be adoptive parents, his eyes curious and full of wonder. Somehow he felt safe here with them. He was fed, and he was warm. He was safe and protected. What else could a little foal like him want? He blinked sleepily and let out a small yawn before curling up into Aruna's chest and falling fast asleep.

Delano watched as Chikotae now slept, and he pictured what their blood related foals would someday look like doing the same thing. As far as he was concerned though, Chikotae was their son and they would love him just as much as if he was born of them. He lowered his head still more and finally just laid down, snuggling in behind Aruna, with his head draping over her head so he could watch Chikotae. "I'm not sure where he came from. All I know is I fund him, alone, scared and starving to death. Imagine if a predator had found him?"

His eyes sparkled with laughter as Aruna teased him. "Oh I am far from perfect my love, but I try my best. And no of course not. My heart is yours alone. My golden angel." He nuzzled her warmly. "Oh I believe you would. I feel sorry for any mare that even looks at me the wrong way!" He chuckled softly and rested his head against hers as Chikotae slept soundly.

Feeling quite snug, Aruna smiled as she nuzzled Chikotae before grinning at Delano. "Hm, I suppose that's true. But you found him first, so I guess that means you're a kind of mother and father?" she was only teasing, but it truly amused her to think of it like that. She smiled at how her life was finally starting to get together; it had seemed that lately, things had gone bad-worse-okay-bad-worse-better... at least, that was the summary of how her life had been. She was frighteningly frustrated at the fact her life had been so completely messed up... but there truly was nothing she could have done to stop certain events from happening.

In the end, however, she was glad that things were finally looking up for her; she needed to return to her family--especially her parents--to catch up with news and just have family time, mostly. Usually she sent Kaine to update her father, but Hania didn't seem to be doing much except wandering around, and he rarely did that. She was thankful his wolf familiar Iieanu kept a firm eye on her--she assumed he was not as hyper as he used to be--solemn father so that he did not grow to be bitter. Her father was kind and thoughtful, always worrying over his children, wondering if they would be all right without him.

She smiled at Delano. "Hush, love, Chikotae is about to fall asleep." She smiled at the colt that slept against her. "Aw, he's so cute! With that smile, I'm sure when he grows older he'll really catch a lot of mares' eyes." She narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "I hope he doesn't end up going through what I've had to go through, because my life has been turned quite thoroughly upside down and around."

Delano chuckled and nuzzled Aruna. "If I am both mother and father, what does that make you my love? Surely I cannot be both male and female" he flashed a playful grin at Aruna and nibbled her mane softly. His thoughts found themselves thinking about the past week or so and he wondered, would they now get better? Surely nothing more could happen to cause them stress and drama in their lives. It had to get better now.

They had a weird blended family and a part of him could not wait for the foals to grow so they could be rid of Rahu. After the encounter with Bairn and Rahu the other day, Dleano grew to resent and hate Rahu even more, bitterness settling within himself for that dark stallion. The thought of Bairn prodded Delano to think about Aruna's family. Surely they would want to see her and the foals. It would be a bit before they could leave and travel with the foals, but perhaps her family could be brought to her? He wondered if Bairn would help him in this task.

Delano's thoughts were interrupted by Aruna's soft scolding and he could not help but smile and n** her cheek playfully but ever so gently. "I'm sure he will, especially with strikingly handsome red markings like that. " He grinned and pride shone in his eyes. He culd not help himself. He now had an adopted son, just his and Aruna's to raise and love and care for. Delanocooed at Aruna ever so softly. "oh don't say that. Things work out in the end and i am sure we both will make sure to raise him up right"
