Throughout the H2G2 series and Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul, Mr. Adams writes about Thor. A lot. What I realised this morning was that the wrold, in H2G2, ends on a Thursday--which is named after Thor (Thor's Day). It seems very much like a very odd coincidence, but I just thought maybe someone else has a theory on this?

Someone told me what H2G2 meant, but I forget... Though I didn't know Thursday was named after Thor, that's food for thought! I haven't read either books, so I'll go away now.

That's really interesting, and now that I come to think about it, it is a little odd! I don't have any theories, unfortunately.

I read an interview where he stated that he was fascinated by religion and that it tends to spill over into his writing. I guess the Norse pantheon just sort of mused its way into those books. confused

Arrrgh! I can't think of a single thing to say about this! Brain not functioning today. I tend to think he did it on purpose. Don't know why I think this, just a feeling I guess.

Obviously you can't miss Thor in Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul, but I only noticed one reference to him in H2G2. I just assumed that Thor's name was tossed into the book for the amusement of Tea-Time fans.
That bit about Thursday is interesting, though. I'm going Wiki-ing for sure.
