I've always been known for my ability to remember and comprehend things rather quickly and efficiently, but one day in my 5th grade class I scared the hell out of my teacher.
My class and I had just returned from lunch to find our teacher standing at the chalkboard with a stack of papers in his hand. This could only mean one thing - Pop Quiz. Needless to say, the majority of the class was none too happy about the situation. I on the other hand have always been a nerd and loved to learn new things, so I just sat patiently and quietly at my desk, waiting for Mr. Floyd to hand me my paper on which I would find a series of questions relating to a subject of which we had not yet learned about.
After receiving my test sheet I eagerly began reading the test description with the same excitement as always... Only to be disappointed by the sight of the same text as last week. I figured Mr. Floyd had either gone senile or was doing a sort of "recap" of the previous lesson, so I picked up my pencil and quickly marked my answers down, same as last week. (I have one of those memories where I see words in my head as pictures, so taking a test is like flipping through a photo album.)
Mr. Floyd hadn't even made it to the last desk when I put down my pencil, turned my paper over, and laid my head down... My trademark "I'm done" routine. On his way back across the room to wait at his desk, the teacher noticed my paper turned over and came up to me.
"Is there something wrong with your test, Rachel?"
"Nope, I finished already."
"No way! I just handed it to you!"
I nervously handed him my paper, which he promptly began scanning over. I used to have severe Social Anxiety Disorder and have this terrible fear of attention, so by now having everyone looking to see what was going on was making me very uncomfortable. I sat looking down, waiting for his next move.
"How did you know these answers?" he asked.
"Well, I remembered them from last week."
"Last week? You didn't have this test last week!"
"Yes we did, I remember those exact questions, in that order specifically."
"Rachel, there's no way you took this test last week. I just made it while you were at lunch."
Weird o.O
