The catalyst that had originally forced Hasidi to move on from his home had been so long ago that the original idea had skewed in the earthy red lion's mind. He was heading to the end of the journey, in the last place he thought he would ever see again. The only way for him to think that his departure was a good thing was to think of what it had gotten him, a lovely mate, and a family on the way. The epiphany for him and his mate to return to the Kusini'mwenzi lands started when his lovely pink mate had told him in the far off sea that she was pregnant. And now, after a long, long walk, Hasidi was home.

As he approached the boundaries his heart pattered uncontrollably, what if Tisha was there...? Better yet, what if she didn't remember him? These trees were the first part of his home he had seen as a cub, he was lost, his limp was horrible, and Tisha, his mother was there warm and welcoming.

Scared and slightly confused Hasidi turned to his mate, "I am sure this is where we should be, but I am so scared." His outlook on life had changed with the coming of their offspring, he decided that he would take control, of course if Chuakari allowed, and not only be the father figure, but be a decisive adult.

His limping left hind leg would be destinct to any who knew him well, and he feared seeing anyone too soon. He knew he would have to speak to the current king, and was not sure who had taken the thrown. Hoping slightly that he would find Tafari hunting the borders...Tafari was well..Taffy.. and brothers were not like mothers or kings.

The journey home had not been an easy one for the pregnant cheetah. She'd grown accustomed to moving slower with Hasidi, but with a new and strange burden of her own she found it even harder. Hardest of all was getting by the coalition lands, and there she'd spent most of the time half-hoping not to be seen and half-hoping she would be. She was proud of her family, though she still had her worries about it. It was hard to just stop caring what others thought. With that out of the way, Chuakari was free to worry about where they were going, how she would be received and how the cubs would be received. Now she was certain there had to be more than one cub.

"Don't be," Kari purred encouragingly, letting her worries for the future shift to the worries of the present, "We'll find someone, and they'll know you and be so happy to see you again.." She could not imagine it being any other way. She knew Hasidi might not know everyone there, but she could not imagine anyone being unhappy to see someone so sweet. Of course, she was biased.

Things had settled down in the Kusini pride--for the most part. The new king found himself slipping into his new role easily, but he doubted it could last for very long. He couldn't possibly have an easy reign. There had to be trouble somewhere, lurking or just waiting to pounce. He could almost feel it in his bones. Or was that his paranoia? He couldn't quite separate his feelings anymore, not since his Voice had disappeared.

But the large male shook out his mane, attempting to clear out his thoughts. He worried too much, he knew that. Masuka had even told him that. But it was hard not to worry, after he had worried all of his life. It was difficult, but he was trying.

And he was starting out his 'make-over' by attempting to be the best king that he could. He patrolled the borders daily, or if not daily then as often as he possibly could. Though he didn't think that anything would really happen among the borders, he slept sounder knowing that someone had at least checked them and had secured the pride's safety for another day.

As Tamu patrolled the borders, he noticed two figures walking into the pride. He wasn't worried, since he trusted others more than some might, but he was still curious. Drawing closer at an easy pace, a smile graced his maw as he noticed who they were.

He didn't know them personally, at least not one. But the other, he felt he slightly recognized.

"Good day," he said peacefully, once he had gotten into a good range with them. He slowed his pace, just to show them that he wasn't threatening in the least. Merely, he was checking things out and had just been around when they had come around. Coincidence, pure coincidence. Glancing between the two as he grew even closer, he noticed that the female was in fact a cheetah. A pregnant cheetah, no less. He wondered at this, but made no comment.

Instead, he smiled warmly and stopped a respective distance from them, though he was close enough to speak normally with them.

"Passing through?" he guessed, though he thought they were looking to stay. It was only a hunch, however.

The dark earthy red male had been focused on his mate to the point he did not notice the coming of Tamu, the current king, no less! He jumped slightly as they were greeted and turned towards the source of the voice, he was further startled to see someone of the Kusini royal colors, they all for the most part were tan, brown, and cream colors.

"Good day to you," he stepped closer to Chuakari protectively, "I am Hasidi adopted son of Tisha, I am...coming home." He bowed respectfully and a soft smile spread across his maw, glancing back up he was curious to ask the other lion if they had ever met..but was afraid to do so.

Just like Hasidi, Kari was too focused on the worries of her lion companion to notice that they were being approached by another lion. She was never terribly observant, and combined with her bright colors and how excitable she was, it made it difficult for the small cheetah to hunt. She had no knowledge of the pride they were coming into, and when Hasidi stepped closer protectively she initially felt the need to be protected.

At least the stranger had a friendly voice, though she could hear the concern in Hasidi's reply. She made no move to introduce herself, though she offered a respectful nod.

"And I am Tamu'jitu, or simply Tamu for short. I am the king of these lands."

Tamu smiled as warmly as possible at the two newcomers. He had noticed their initial uneasiness--and he really couldn't blame them, what with the cheetah being pregnant--and so was trying his best to make them feel more comfortable. The Kusini lands were peaceful lands, after all, and he wanted to give the pair the right impression of the pride as a whole.

When Hasidi mentioned that he was the adopted son of Tisha, he immediately turned his head to look at the male. "Tisha?" he repeated. Ah, yes, he remembered her. "Very good, I remember," he told them.

"Coming home, yes," he rumbled deeply, glad that there were those who liked the Kusini enough to come back after who knew how long. "I am guessing you both will be staying?" he questioned, glancing for a brief moment at the female's bulging belly. He was no expert, but a female normally didn't round quite that way if she was merely eating too much.

He wondered vaguely who the father was--unknowing to hybrids--but let the thought slip from his mind. There were more important matters at hand.

"I must say," he continued, raising his gaze respectfully. "It will be a pleasure to have you back, Hasidi, and as great a pleasure to have a new member amongst us."

Hasidi's amber eyes widened at the news that the person to greet them was not only royalty, but the current king! He had gotten news of the great queens death, but had no clue someone had taken over in her stead. He no longer thought they were in ny danger, after all this land was indeed a peaceful quiet one, atleast from his memory. But, he still felt concerned for his mate, he was unsure how she felt with another lion..and more lions to come.

"I am honored to be in your prescence, your highness," he bowed again, this time more deeply.

Hasidi glanced at Chuakari, baffled at her silence, and decided to introduce her, "This is Chuakari, my mate...we have your permission to come back..to stay in this great land? To have our children here?" The original idea seemed more like an idea when he had originally addressed the pink cheetah's concern of where they would have their children, now it was the reality and..the fearful truth. Would everyone accept their strange love?

Kari, who knew only what she'd been told of the lands, was not expecting to hear that the lion they were being greeted by was the King. She mimiced Hasidi more fully this time, bowing only as deeply as she could without falling forward due to the added weight just at her belly. She couldn't explain her speechlessness either, and luckily Hasidi covered everything she wanted to say. She saw the king's glances at her belly, and as one who had been ignorant to hybrids before she had to wonder what he was thinking.

She felt she should say something, add something, but Hasidi's questions convered it all and left her anxious biting her lip.

Tamu shifted, slightly uncomfortable. He was still trying to get used to the fact that his father was no longer the king, he was. And since he was the king now, everyone was going to treat him with more respect than he had ever thought to achieve. It was strange, but he had to get used to it if he was going to continue being king as long as he was able.

Attempting to forget his unease, while also wishing they didn't take it for something against them, he forced a smile which, thankfully, wasn't that hard to do. This was a nice couple, and he felt he would find it hard to become angry with them.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Chuakari," he said, bowing his head at her in a sort of respectful greeting. He may have been king, but that didn't mean he thought that others didn't reserve respect.

When mentioned that the lion and cheetah were mates, his ears flicked curiously. But he was being polite and didn't prod them further. The female already looked scared enough. He could imagine. She was in a strange land bearing cubs of a lion, not normal for a cheetah. He also wondered what the rest of the pride might think. But whatever they thought, they would have to accept these two. He would demand they be accepted.

"You have my permission," he smiled, dipping his head in a slight nod.

The earthy red lion held back a bit of a giggle as he saw Chuakari try and bow without falling over, and a sense of pride grew within him, it was him who did that..who made a beautiful cheetah even more special. Hasidi flashes a bright smile to the king as he bowed to his mate, and teh smile grew wider as he sensed the uncomfortable feelings the other male had. It must have been weird, Hasidi had never had an important family, and couldn't imagine becoming king all of a sudden.

"Thank you so much, Your Highness" speaking was all he could do not to jump right out of his fur with excitment. They had overcome an obstacle, being accepted was the final thing that told Hasidi he had made the right choice with Kari, they were meant to be here.

"What will I tell Tisha?" he smirked and stepped slightly towards Kari, bumping his shoulder into hers affectionately.

The relief Kari felt at hearing that they had permission to stay was visible in her eyes. She was welcome here, her and Hasidi were welcome. Part of her expected to cause suspicion, just as Hasidi had in the coalition, but species didn't matter to the King, and that was what was important.

"T-thank you, very much," she said finally, finding her voice once again. With a sigh she leaned on Hasidi happily when he stepped closer and nudged her, turning her gaze to him when he asked about Tisha.

"You will find her and tell her that you're back, and she is going to be a grandmother," she answered brightly in a quiet voice. It was nice to think that the cubs would have some family outside of just them, and now that they were not rogues they would have easy access to friends.

(( *cough* 8D Someone should mention positions. Kari = failure as a hunter. ))

Tamu was slightly amused when the cheetah attempted a bow with her pregnant belly. It looked funny to him, but he didn't look at her in a chiding, mocking way. He worried more about what would have happened if she had fallen over more than he cared to smile at how strange it looked.

But the moment passed, and he moved on, his thoughts moving to other things. Or, rather, back to other things. A lion and a cheetah, mating? It seemed strange, as he had never heard of such a thing before. But he supposed it shouldn't have been so strange, since it was still love nonetheless. It was the same concept, merely different beings were involved. There were still two people coming together, making a family for themselves. It was all the same, and the king found it hard to think bad of them for their actions.

After all, what if Masuka had been a cheetah? He was sure he would have felt the same way about her.

"Please, it is the pride's pleasure," he said politely, "to have such fine members amongst it." Smiling kindly, his smile broadening as he heard the cheetah finally speak up for herself. So she had a voice after all.

When talk of Tisha came up, the brown male nodded his head. "You may find her now, if you like. Or you may go further into the lands to settle down. I'm sure the journey must not have been an easy one." He frowned slightly, worrying about what the travels would have done to the pregnant female. But she seemed healthy enough, if his inexperience told him anything.

Then, for some reason, a thought struck him. It was perhaps him thinking about Chuakari being pregnant, which led him to think of nannies and that kind female lioness he had appointed as a nanny. Whatever it was, though, he couldn't help mentioning it to the couple.

"This may not be the most important matter," he began. "But how would you wish to fit into the pride?" Feeling that might not make total sense, he rephrased himself. "Rather, what would you two want your duties to be?" He knew he was the king, and it probably should have been him to appoint their positions, but he really felt that no one knew one's abilities and strengths more than oneself. Thus, he wished for their imput before he made a decision.

Standing there, politely expectant, he gave them both warm and welcoming looks. It was his nature, and he couldn't help it.

Fine memebers? Oh was Hasidi's heart fluttering and he was so excited, scared, and overall overjoyed to be home, and to have the luck to meet the king just as they entered?

"We'll be upstanding members, and so will our young," he smirked. What occupation? Hasidi had been told from a young age that he would be a hunter for the pride, his older brother Tafari was a hunter, and he was to be one..wasn't he? But thinking of his leg and how that would effect the equation he mused for a moment.

"Kari, what would you think you'd be good at?" he wasn't sure she'd be a hunter either, but he assumed that's what he would say, "What would I be good at?"

He nodded a knowing nod to the King, hoping it was alright they thought for a moment.

Kari smiled and did her best to look like she could and would be an upstanding member, just as Hasidi said about them and their soon-to-be family. She was quite sure they could do it, and expected nothing less of their cubs, for she could not imagine them anything but perfect. When the subject of duties came up, she was surprised and immediately knew she'd not be much use to a pride with her hunting skills. When Hasidi questioned her, she glanced over to Tamu and back again.

"You'd be wonderful at anything," she beamed at Hasidi, but her voice became quier when she continued, "I- I don't know what I could do.."

Tamu glanced from one to the other, lion to cheetah. He understood their uncertainty concerning their duties within the pride. He wanted to allow them more time for a choice, but he really couldn't allow so much time. And besides, he knew that if he let them go without duties in the beginning, then he'd sooner forget than go back to them for their answers. His damn memory.

Glancing at Chuakari, the king thought of something. "Why don't you be a nanny?" he suggested. Explaining himself, he continued, "With your round belly and the delicacy of your state, I wouldn't want to risk your health doing some demanding activity. Being a nanny allows you to take care of your own cubs, but before they come you could look after a few of the others here." His mind wandered to the many cubs that occupied the Kusini, his own included. What a number!

"Of course, there are plenty of other duties if you wish for some other task," he replied purposefully. He didn't want to pressure the mother-to-be into anything she felt uncertain about. He'd let her choose her own way.

Glancing at Hasidi, he had a harder time coming up with something. He couldn't have missed the way the other lion limped, and he vaguely wondered how well he would do hunting. Tamu himself wasn't all that great of a hunter himself as it was.

"What do you think you'd like to do?" he asked, trying to make it easier for them to decide.
