This is the first chapter of a book I'm writing. I would enjoy it if you could give me feed back on it. DO NOT STEAL MY WORK I will report you.

CHAPTER ONE.
“Wake up! Princess Alea it’s time to wake up!”

“Huh?” I said blearily as I opened my eyes.

“Alea, do you know what day it is?”

“No,” I answered bluntly. (I was still half asleep)

“Today is the day you travel to Ruia to marry Prince Spora”

Bam! It all came back to me. I, fourteen year old Alea, princess of Ledia, had to travel four days to the land of Ruia just to marry the spoiled prince, Spora! Even his name sounds spoiled. I met him once; springy locks of blond hair, other girls almost fainted! He was “Oh so handsome.” HA! More like oh so conceited! But it doesn’t matter. It wouldn’t matter if he had one eye and no legs! I have no say in the matter, as princesses hardly ever do.

“Oh, that,” I said dully, getting up.

“Yes that. Now your father has planed the bridal shower for one O’clock and he wondered if you would consent to wear pink.”

“Tell him I will think about it,” I said. I never liked the frilly pink gown my father, King Lyon the Just, had given me the year before. It was all frilly and covered in bows. However I knew he wanted me to wear it. I went to my wardrobe and took it out. I had forgotten how puffy the skirt was! Then I had an idea. I rang a bell for Ginger, my seamstress. (We don’t use slaves like the tyrants in Ruia) I told her my idea, and she agreed to help me to do it. So while she worked I went down for breakfast. When I had finished breakfast I started to go upstairs when I spotted Marie, my hairdresser. I called out to her and she followed me upstairs to my room. I asked Ginger how the dress was coming along. Smiling she said,

“The adjustments are almost done your highness.”

“Adjustments?” asked Marie. I explained my idea for the dress.

“You’re so much like your mother sometimes!” I could tell it was a complement by the way she smiled as she said it. My mother was, at that time, in Ruia negotiating the linking of our kingdoms.

“Now let us fix up your hair for your party,” said Marie. I sat down at my mirror, and Marie started to pin, comb, and braid my long golden-brown hair. When my hair was finished I put on my new, improved dress. I loved it! Some of the lace layers where gone so it hung naturally around my legs, the rumpled frilly top layer of the skirt was gone so that only a lace layer and the soft, pink, silk, bottom layer where visible. The puffy shoulder sleeves had been replaced with long flowing silk pink sleeves, and a beautiful sash of lightly died lace was around my waist.

“You look stunning Alea!” Exclaimed Marie.

“You are very beautiful Princess,” said Ginger, shyly.

“Thank you very much,” I said in return. I opened my desk drawer and took out a small bag, this bag was very special to me it contained my money, and secret treasures. Some I had found on my own and some my mother had given to me from when she was a girl.

“Here,” I said and gave both Ginger and Marie a silver coin.

“Thank you your highness!” they said in unison. Suddenly I herd a knock on the door.

“Yes?” I said moving closer to the door.

“King Lyon requests that Princess Alea attend to her Bridal Shower at once,” Said an official sounding voice. I opened the door and saw an elderly man in a blue uniform. I stepped into the hall and followed him to the main steps.

“Announcing her royal highness, the heir to the royal throne of Ledia, and engaged to be married to prince Spora of Ruia, Princess Alea.”

I started to walk down the steps I saw all of my friends; Lesa my maid of honor, Sasha who would be the flower girl and also the younger sister of my friend Ania, Ania herself she was to be the head brides maid, and Kania my newest friend, a noblemen’s daughter, another brides maid. Then I saw my father and the look on his face when he saw my dress. It was not angry or confused or even sad. He was, to my amazement, amused! I couldn’t believe it, amused! I walked down the stairs to the middle of the room. It was one of my favorite rooms with large beautiful vases with lilies in them, murals on every wall, and a large table with hibiscuses in pink vases every ten inches. I barley had time to remember all of this when all of my friends came over. We all got tangled in a group of hugs and hellos. Finally we where able to untangle ourselves and I went to my father.

“You remind me so much of your mother sometimes!” exclaimed my father, reminding irresistibly of Marie.

“I wish she could have been here instead of in Ruia,” I said sighing.

“What makes you think I’m not?” said a familiar voice from behind one of the vases.

“Mom, is that you?” I asked already knowing the answer.

“Who else?” My mother said as she came out from behind the flowers.

“How...Why...but...why are you back early?” I asked in amazement.

“Well the negotiations went faster then we thought so I took the two day trip back so I could be here for the shower,” She explained. I couldn’t help but think, in spite of my mother back so early, that now all I had to look forward to was the arrogant, ‘Ooo I’m so handsome that everybody must love me’, bouncy haired, spoiled prince of Ruia. I didn’t say any of this out loud though.

“I’m glad your here,” Was all I said.

That's the first chapter ^^ I have five finished (inclueding this one) tell me what you think. Thanks.

Its somewhere along the lines of: I like the characters, the possibilities and plot, but my only complaint is the lack of detail, of effort to put the detail in. I could only see Alea as she's sitting down, only the golden-brown hair on the back of her head visible. Kind of like that.

The conversations in between the characters were well done and it felt like a high class conversation, but everything around it, I had to envision many elements from different video games, specifically Illusion of Gaia.(For the Super Nintendo, if you don't know about it)

Keep it up with the conversations, the characters can potentially be quite memorable, and quench my thrist for description, that chapter was much too short!

Chapter Two

The shower was wonderful. The next afternoon I got into in to my black traveling cloak and simple green silk dress. The man in the uniform came to my door just as I was tying my cloak.

“The caravan is at the door lady Alea,” He said in his bored voice.

“I’m coming,” I said. I opened my drawer and took out my possessions and put them into my belt bag. I tied the bag around my waist.

“I’m ready,” I said walking to the door. I followed the man to the grand doors. The doors opened and I saw a small group of people with two, large, horse drawn, carriages. At least that is what I thought of them. Some of the others called them “Wagons”. I went to where my parents stood waiting to say goodbye. I hugged them both.

“Have a safe trip,” My mother said. “We’ll see you in three weeks,”

“Don’t get yourself into any trouble.” My father said.

“We have to go now if you want to make some good progress before we have to stop,” Said a voice behind me.

“Ah yes,” said my father as if remembering something he had almost forgot, “this, Alea, Is Jahstika. He will be your personal guard for your trip,” I turned and found myself looking at a boy maybe a year older than me, carrying a small bag around his waist and a scabbard. He had light brown hair, and dark green eyes. He bowed in a stiff manner.
“I know he seems new to the job of protection,” My father said taking my look of surprise as unbelief, “but I have tested many young boys for guards since the thieves have started a black market trade in slaves to Manerkor, and Sander, and Jahstika was the best by far,” He said smiling at the boy, “I also though you would be more comfortable with someone nearer your own age,” he whispered in my ear. I gave each of my parents a last hug goodbye and followed Jahstika.

He was about three inches taller than me and had an air of trepidation about him. I could tell he was new to the job, as my father had said. He led me to one of the large carriages, opened the door, and unfolded a ramp. He bowed again in his stiff way and held his arms to gesture that I should go in. I lifted my skirt slightly and went up the ramp.
Inside was about as big as a large wardrobe, but not so small that it was claustrophobic. It was cozily furnished with a small square table about a foot high, with two soft circular pillows around it to sit on and a seat next to each widow, which where covered with a mattress like cushion, a nice blanket, and a feather pillow. Jahstika sat on one of the round pillows and took out a wooden game from his small bag. It was triangular with holes in it. The holes had pegs in them except for the single hole at the top corner. He put the game on the table, and I sat down across the table from him. He looked up as I pulled my hood down. The carriage jerked as it started moving.

“Do you want to play?” Jahstika asked after I recovered from the jerk.

“You’ll have to teach me how,” I said smiling. He smiled too he had a beautiful smile.

“The object of the game,” he said, “is to remove as many pegs as you can.”

“That’s easy,” I said.

“Not as easy as it seems, you can only remove pegs by jumping them,” He used a peg to go over another peg and in to the empty hole at the top. He removed the peg he had jumped over. “Now you try,” He said. I jumped a peg in to the empty hole left by his move and removed the other peg.

“This is easy,” I said again.

“Until you start to run out of pegs that are next to each other,” Jahstika commented. We played the game for some hours and as Jahstika had said it wasn’t so easy after you started to run out of pegs. At first I usually had three or four pegs left. Eventually I got so good I could finish with two pegs. Jahstika, however, could finish with one almost every time.

Sometime later I glanced out the window and it was, to my surprise, sunset. I loved to watch the sun set so I got up and sat on the seat next to the window. As I stared at the beautiful red-orange glow noticed that the carriage was coming to a roadside clearing. As we passed a blossoming fruit tree I reached out, and plucked a flower from the branch. I put the stem behind my ear, and turned to look at Jahstika.

“This is one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen!” I exclaimed. It was true the red-orange glow was bursting out from behind the trees, giving them a shadowed appearance. The sky above the forest looked as if it where an explosion of colored light! He didn’t answer he was looking out the window with glazed eyes. I went over and touched his shoulder.

“Yes,” He said looking at me, “it is.”

The Floor jerked again as we stopped, but not as much as when we had started. I was still startled and grabbed the first thing I could to steady myself, which happed to be Jahstika. He put his hand on mine and looked straight into my eyes.

“We should go outside for supper,” He said, and left the carriage. I followed with a thousand emotions swirling inside me as I went.

She tries to. Just wait you'll see. ^^ I'm trying to make the chapters longer, but it's hard. We can't all be J.K. Rowlling. I think I'll post the next chapter pretty soon. It's gonna get really exciting.

CHAPTER THREE

Supper that night was talkative; the drivers exchanged news and stories. I was quiet for the most part only talking when someone talked to me. I kept thinking of Jahstika. He was sitting right beside me talking and laughing like the others. I didn’t feel too hungry so I left before finishing my food. I was almost into the wagon when suddenly Jahstika was behind me.

“Follow me,” He said, he looked scared.

“Why?” I asked, running after him. He shook his head I could hear yelling and clashing from the fire. We went to the front of one of the wagons I noticed that apart from the harness both horses had on riding gear, as if this was something that was likely to happen. Jahstika unhitched the horses.

“Can you ride fast?” he asked.

“Yes,” I said now totally confused.

“Good because you’ll have to ride fast! Just follow me,” I got on one of the horses and Jahstika got on the other.

“Just keep close,” He said and kicked his horse I followed as fast as my horse would go. We rode down the road, away from the fire. Woosh! My horse stopped and reared as Jahstika’s steed fell, an arrow in its side. Woosh! Another arrow stuck in a tree having barley missed my horse. My horse reared again. I fell off and hit the ground running. I ran over to Jahstika. He looked okay; he had jumped off when his horse fell.

“Are you okay?” I asked

“I’m fine,” He said getting up. There was a high pitched whinny and the horse I had been riding galloped off. I turned to look after the horse, and Jahstika turned toward the forest with me.

“Run,” His soft voice scared me “Run!” He said again. I ran. I heard Jahstika pull out his weapon, a small sword. I stopped running. He was walking backwards sword in front of him.

“I know how to fight,” I said. This was somewhat true I often had watched the solders spar and had tried a few times to copy them with a stick. He looked at me and then pulled out a small dagger.

“Only use it to protect yourself,” he said in a cautionary voice.

“I will,” I said, surprised that my voice was as calm as his.

“Stay behind me,” He said. I moved so that I could see over his shoulder. He continued to back up, never putting his sword down. Finally, we stopped to rest in the middle of a clearing. I got up the courage to ask,

“What’s going on?” I dreaded the answer.

“Thieves, the same ones I got hired to protect you from,” He said, and for the fist time he sounded a little scared. “If I don’t stop them from getting us, or just you I don’t know what will happen,” Now he was almost hysterical with fright. I patted his shoulder.

“It’s going to be fine,” I said consolingly, “I know we can get out of this. You’re the best fighter your age. My father said so himself,” He looked at me like no one had ever looked at me before.

A twig snapped. Suddenly Jahstika was back to his alertness, eyes flickering from one tree to another. If I could have held the dagger any tighter it would have splintered. A rustle of branches, Jahstika was now circling a small area, always in front of me, always his back to me. Something jumped out of the darkness to our right Jahstika whirled around to face it. The horse neighed, pawing the air. Jahstika got out of the way, just in time. As the hooves came down we heard voices. Jahstika whispered to me to follow. I followed as he headed for the nearest tree. He started to climb up. I followed remembering how I used to make my mother laugh when I would climb one of our smaller trees in the palace gardens. I did it all the time when I was younger. Jahstika moved to a strong looking branch with a good leaf cover below. I sat down on the branch too, hardly daring to breath. As I brushed the hair away from my face I felt the blossom I had picked from the tree earlier. It felt an eternity since we had gone past the blooming tree; even though it had, probably, been only a few hours. I took it out of my hair and looked at it in amazement. I was surprised it had stayed in that long. It was withered now, losing life.

Then I heard the horse whinny. It was prancing nervously. The voices where back louder this time. All of the voices where, as far as I could tell, male, gruff, and hard. Then the voices and rustling spread around where the horse was still pawing and prancing with nerves. I moved so that I could see down, Jahstika did the same. Two ropes, one from either side of the horse looped around the horse’s neck. Another was expertly thrown so it caught around of the front legs, and another caught the opposite back leg. I gasped and Jahstika covered my mouth. I looked at him and he slowly lowered his hand. The four men who had thrown the ropes came into view; each had another man helping him hold the rope. Another man came from right under our tree he walked over to the horse, who had stopped making noise and was breathing heavily, eyes rolling. All the men where dressed in ragged, dirty, leather garments. The man who had just appeared seemed to be the leader of these thieves.

I tried to move so I could see him better and I almost fell of the branch. Jahstika caught me and I managed to keep my seat, but I was sure it made audible rustling. The man looked straight at our tree. His eyes where dark and tinged yellow like a cat’s. For a moment I thought he had seen us. Then he looked back at the horse.

“Ah yes, this should fetch a high price,” He said. His voice made me shiver. It reminded me of worms all villains I had read about in stories. Now for certain I knew he was their leader, by the tone of command in his voice. I looked at Jahstika he was watching the scene with full attention. Then two more men with bows and quivers of arrows came from the direction of the road. They went to the man. The bigger of the two whispered something in his ear. From what I could tell the leader was about ready to scream. Instead he took a deep breath and said, very calmly.

“Was it necessary to kill that horse?” even though his voice was soft the men flinched.

“Well we where just trying to scare it but the leaves got in the way,” The man sounded terrified.

“Fine,” The leader said sounding menacing, “And what of the girl?”

“She was with another one, a boy, I think, and they got into the forest,” The smaller man spoke this time. His voice squeaked with fright.

“I don’t care about a boy. Kill the boy if you have to!” The leader sounded angry, “Just make sure you bring me the princess, alive,”

I like the plot^^. The pricess makes quite an impression(sp?) except the boy does not. I like how you described the eyes of the thieves leaders too.
