A soft light filled the barren lands, giving a golden glow to the cracked ground beneath it. The sun was just starting to rise, giving a warning of the heat that was to come. The smaller animals began burrowing underground, their nightly hunts done with. Yet the larger animals were just starting to rise and start another day on the savannah.
One of these larger animals was Toma, a colorful hyena. She was lazing about beneath a tree, the shade keeping her white fur from the heat of the sun. She tended to go out in the early morning and early evening, knowing the sun could give her a bad burn through her white coat if she spent too much time wandering about in the afternoon.
With a large yawn, the small female padded off through the dry grasses, looking for a source of water to start off her day.

((Since he's in my siggy, I'll skip the pic this time. XD))
-A yawn pulled apart Ifu's muzzle as the grey male trekked across the savvanah, unconciously searching for someplace to bed down and rest for awhile.
It wasn't that he was nocturnal really.. he simply understood that things were different in the day as in the night. So some days he'd travel at night, sometimes in the day. Sometimes he'd linger in one place through the days and nights, and others he'd pull himself quickly through, like a man on a mission, though truthfully, there was no rush in his mission. Knowledge wasn't something you could hunt down. You simply picked it up here and there.. Sometimes when you least expected it.
Nose catching the scent of water, Ifu's eyes drifted gently in search of the shade trees that would likely be growing around it, fed by the cool waters, turning his course when finally he spotted some.-

The colorful female made her way to the small pool of water, lapping at it happily. She backed up a few paces, then took a running leap into the middle of it, making quite a loud splash. The smaller animals that had circled around it ra off with annoyed and scared sqeuaks, as the small hyena began to swim around, enjoying the cooling waters immensly.
She would have stayed there all day, but the scent of someone else - a male not too far off - caught her attention, and he swam to the shore and shook herself off. Her bright green eyes scanned the area, and finally landed on a gray and white male in the distance. She tilted her head to the side and watched him curiously, and was glad the sun wasn't too high in the sky just yet. She wouldn't have to cover herself with mud to keep cool yet, and she hated it when others saw her like that!

-The loud splash and commotion in the distance perked the male's ears forward, eyes searching for the offender with soft caution. Despite being tired and thirsty, if there was a lion, or some other large and angry animal, he'd wait until they left.
But upon searching he found something entirely different.
Bright hues leading his attention to the female quickly, he gazed to see if she was in trouble, before coming to the realization that she was fine. In fact, she was probably having fun. Smile hitching upon his muzzle, he picked up his feet and trotted forward a few paces, calling out curiously.- "Well hello there."

Toma watched as the male padded over to her, and grinned happily at him. "Hello!" She called back, her voice bubbly and soft. She padded over to him, still dripping wet, her florescant mane plastered to her face.
"I'm Toma." She said with a bright smile as she sat down a few feet from him. She made sure she was a little bit in the shade of a tree, since the un was starting to rise higher and bake her white coat. "Who're you?"

-The nearer she drew, the more his eyes took in her figure, inspecting the strange markings that adorned her flanks with soft interest. He'd never seen a hyena of such bright colors. He'd seen a few unnatural colors, but they were all a soft paleness. No, bright colors had before only seemed a gift of the lions and other cats.
Eyes lifting softly as her words drew his attention back, Ifu grinned sheepishly for a moment, before settling himself calmly to the ground.- "Ifu'hamaji. But Ifu is fine."
-Her voice was nearly as bright as her colors, and softly his mind began to drift. Was there a pack land around here? So far he'd only known the graveyard is hyena territory.. or perhaps she was a wanderer too. Voice drawling in a curious hum, he added lightly.- "Out swimming away the early hours?"

Toma nodded happily at him, smiling kindly once more as she scratched at her ear with her back foot. "Yup! Trying to get cooled off before the sun starts to shine too hot." She said, casting a wary glance at the large yellow ball. It was rising faster now, and she knew she'd have to take refuge in the shade of a tree soon.
"And what are you doing out here on this hot day?" She asked, tilting her head to the side, her voice soft and welcoming. "Trying to find something to drink, I assume?" She said, looking towards the pool of water. "I'll get out of your way, I need to sit beneath the shade now anyway. Being so colorful has it's ups and downs; one being that the sun bakes right through it." She smiled and trotted a towards the shade of the trees, not more than three feet away.

"Ahhh" -He nodded softly to her words, casting a glance up to the slowly moving sun as she spoke of it. Before finally pulling his attention downward at her question.-
"I think.. that after my drink I'll be napping today. I traveled through the night you see.. So I'm feeling a little tired." -He stated the point matter of factly, though a loose smile hung upon his muzzle, stepping forward to the watering hole upon her instance.
And slowly he began to drink, ears swiveling back to hear the rest of her words.- "Ahhh, bakes through the white? That's unfortunate. Do you have to stay out of the sun then during the days then?" -He didn't mind being nocturnal sometimes, but being forced to stay out of the sun at all times would be horrible. The soft warmth of the sun baking on skin was a pleasant one at times.-

Toma looked over at him from her shaded spot, still smiling kindly. "Oh, not at all times. Just if it's a hot day, which this is turning out to be. And I usually cover myself with mud, it blocks the sun and keeps me cool. But mild days are fine." She said, nodding happily. "You are rather light-colored yourself, the sun doesn't burn through your skin?" She asked, looking at his coat curiously.

"Mud you say?" -His voice raised tellingly, as his head slowly turned in curiousity. Water could be saved for later, learning something new was FAR more exciting.
Turning tail to face her once more, he prodded softly.- "You simply cover yourself with it, and it acts as a portable sheild from the sun? How clever!"
-Tail wagging oh so softly, he stepped forward until his own paws settled into a bit of shade, before answering her back thoughtfully.- "I can't say I've ever noticed it doing so... But then, very hot days don't make good traveling days anyway. So I tend to sleep or nap them away."
-Eyes turning outward to the rising sun, he silently pondered for a moment, before laughing just a little.- "Truely I should test the fact.. but it sounds rather unpleasant.. So perhaps I'll just take your word on it."

Toma nodded happily. "That's a good idea. I can't help but love the daytime, myself. Even though the night is much cooler, the day is just so much more exciting. There's much more things to see, and more creatures around to talk with." She smiled brightly once more, laying down in the shade. Her own tail started wagging as well.
She giggled and nodded a bit, looking towards the sun for a moment as well. "So you travel, too? Do you have a destination?" She asked, curious about him. Her green eyes sparkled with interest as she waited for an answer.

"It's true. The night can be a nice treat from time to time. But the day is the far better of the two. Ecspecially when looking for a bit of company."
-When the conversation turned to himself, he obliged willingly, a question for a question after all.- "I have destinations from time to time. But I have no real end destination in mind."
"It's rather nice really, to get to see so many different places. It's just a shame there aren't more traveling hyena to meet along the way. Most seem to be in packs and such."

Toma agreed with a nod. "I have no destination, either. I've been wandering for as long as I can remember." She said, looking thoughtful for a moment. "You see, when I was younger I lost my memory. I have no idea who my family is, or what happened to make me lose my memory. But ever since I've had no idea of who I really was. I couldn't even remember my own name, so I named myself." She smiled a bit as she told the story, as if she was speaking of the weather, not her life.
"But it doesn't really matter to me anymore. I know who I am now. Although it would be nice to someday find my family." She lifted her shoulders in a shrug. "But I'm just living my life day to da. Oh I'm sorry, I sometimes get carried away with talking too much." She said, bashfully looking away.
((And I think you're a wonderful RPer, luff. <3 I very much like RPing with you, I dunno who could have said you're not good at it. D: ))

((*luffles on* Thanks dear heart I think a good portion of it has to deal with like 13 day waits like this one. >.< Sorry about that!))
-He listened silently as she spoke, ears lifted to catch each word, and though he was silent, his face played his reactions. Soft frown touching his maw as the story began, concern filled eyes, and a soft smile and nod by the end. Optimisim truely was a wonderful thing. Not many would take such a pleasant way with such hardship.-
"Oh I don't mind at all. In fact quite the oppisite. I'd rather listen to someone all day long, then speak all day long myself. You learn and see so much more when you listen."
-Yawn pulling apart his maw, he gave himself a little shake, settling against the ground lightly, as he streched out for the time to pass. It would be rude to simply go straight to sleep with company.. ecspecially company so intriguing. And without much inital thought to it, he mused lightly.- "If you have no destination, then perhaps the two of us could travel together for a little ways? Four eyes are better for looking than two. And I'd never begrudge a little company for once."

((No worries at all~ <3 Life happens. 8D))
Toma smiled brightly at him, glad he didn't pester her about her past like most did. She chuckled softly, a musical sound, and nodded happily at him. "I would love to travel with you!" She said pleasantly, her little colorful tail swishing behind her. "I haven't had a traveling companion for quite a while. And I haven't met anyone as nice as you for a long time." She gave him another bright smile.
