Looking perhaps a little worn around the edges, Binti skulked around the borders of Ela lands, enjoying the respite, and the peace and quiet. She'd been doing the best she could, since Us'kali's death and the birth of the elder lioness' legacy...all 5 of them.
However, that wasn't to say that she was entirely comfortable in her role of 'mom'. She'd been on her own a long time, after all--and after that, she'd been around Us'kali, and Ama...neither of whom were in their formative years.
Idly, pawing at a blade of grass, Binti wondered if she was so pensive because they seemed to be growing up so fast--and every last one of them reminded her of herself, in some small way--a strange sentiment to have, perhaps, and one she'd never admit to having...but it warmed some almost forgotten, dormant part of her psyche.
"Hmph." It was hard to believe how much she'd changed in such a short time, at least in her opinion. She still found it difficult, at times, to get along with others--she wanted to do things her way, and didn't want to have to ask the permission of others to do so...and yet, she was beginning to understand some of the appeal of pridal life, especially among the Ela, where, unlike the pride she'd been born into, the female cubs weren't seen as being lesser beings than their male counterparts.
Shaking her head, Binti paced the border, restless, as a slight breeze ruffled through her fur. Almost playful, she leapt on a rock a few paces ahead, digging the pads of her toes into the dirt, and sending a small cloud of dust flying into the air.

Palidezca giggled to herself as she wandered close to the Ela'wadiyi prideland borders, long tail flicking behind her as paw after paw made small prints in the dirt. She licked her muzzle briefly, and then stopped, looking around. "Was that just me, or did you hear the voice of another too?" She questioned herself. So...not crazy, definately not. The pale, tawny lioness smirked to herself and then reclined to her haunches, though craning her neck to look around. That looked like a source of voice, she directed her thoughts towards the form of another lioness, same build as her.
The pale-coated lioness flicked her tail again, then her ears, in turn, and flexed her claws slightly. Sure, Palidezca had heard about these lions, so odd they seemed...such outsiders, even though they lived in much the same world as hundreds of other lions. "Hmmm." She mumbled to herself, tail a-twitch. Another small giggle broke forth as she layed herself against the ground, then began stalking closer to the other lioness, using rocks and small grassy patches in an attempt to concel herself as she moved closer, to observe the other, hopefully not cause any trouble. "But you never know..." She mumbled, trailing off as she stopped and then lay herself closer to the ground. She glanced about, and then shook her head. "I know she doesn't look mean, but you never know." Repeating what she'd just said, not out of character for the hardly sane lioness. But she was responding to the other voice, so it was alright to repeat it, as sometimes, he just didn't hear her correctly.
Palidezca continued her near-silent stalking closer, then stopped behind a large rock and sat, placing her two front paws on it and peering over it at the other, pale-coated lioness. Another quiet giggle to herself, and then she layed back down behind the rock, hiding herself, or so she thought.

Binti froze, her entire posture shifting from easygoing and carefree, to tense and suspicious--she was positive she'd heard a voice...a giggle, even. And while the noise might not be menacing, in and of itself--it disturbed her that she'd been so lost in her own thoughts, that she hadn't even noticed the lion's approach prior to that. Was she losing her edge?
Greenish-blue eyes narrowed as she scanned the surrounding area, tail flicking idly in the grass behind her. Her stance wasn't quite aggressive, but it was certainly wary.

The tawny-furred lioness smirked to herself and then pulled herself up off the ground and onto the rock she'd been sitting behind. "Greetings, Ela'wadiyi lioness." She crooned smoothly, tail swishing and ears lain back slightly, brows lifted in a sort of arrogant manner.
Palidezca herself was only slightly wary, as she hadn't heard tell of any of the inhabitants of these lands being hostile, but it was alright to give a tough impression when meeting others. She lifted her tail higher and then perked up her ears, though her brows were still lifted, expression slightly smug. "I've come searching for your pride, been long travels." The female stated, casting a crimson glace around herself carefully.
"If I might have an audience with you, miss?" Palidezca inquired. She knew she could be confusing, though she tried not to be, most of the time. It was just hard for her to keep the thoughts of the others inside her mind to herself, and sometimes she came off as angry, or hostile, or rude...

Binti's eyes first narrowed, then widened slightly in surprise as she listened to what the other said. It sounded...strange, to hear herself referred to as an ela'wadiyi lioness, even unfamiliar. However, although the words certainly implied no wish to harm, she remained tense, suspicious.
"Why would you seek us out?" she finally asked, omitting to point out that she still did not feel like one of the mysterious, wise Ela. To her, Us'kali, with her wisdom that had extended beyond her admittedly ancient years, was the essence of what an Ela'wadiyi lioness should be...and they weren't shoes she was ready to occupy, herself.
"And...audience? Is there a reason to make such a formal request? We're speaking now, are we not?" Her tone roughened slightly with impatience--while she was becoming more tolerant of such things as she got older, she didn't understand the point of overly formal interactions, aside from in very, very particular circumstances.

Palidezca gave a smooth, cool grin and then flicked her tail, again, the pale beige fur of the tuft hitting away a little flying pest. "Your culture intrigures me. Plus, well, I've never really had a home. Been moving from outlands, to outlands, to more outlands. Feeding off scraps that others leave behind," She paused, and shrugged modestly, "Fighting preybeast for the right to comsumption of their flesh," The tawny-furred lioness smirked devlishly, "And those such things." She finished with another, smooth grin.
"I'm pretty much looking for a place to call home." The sleek, pale-furred female choked out. It wasn't often she admitted to being homeless. She liked to think of herself rather highly, and, to be truthful, Palidezca was a very pride-stricken lioness.
"But either way, I'd like to visit, if I'm not welcome to stay. That's what I do, you see?" She snorted softly and flicked at another pest with her tail, blinking a few times, and then restoring her crimson gaze to the other lioness.

Binti eyed the young lioness thoughtfully. She understood being transient, having (quite contentedly) lived such a life for a large portion of her own life.
"It's really not my position to grant, or deny, that sort of request." she replied instead, opting for the truth. "And to be honest, the pride has suffered much at the hands of strangers, so I really cannot predict how...receptive it would be, as a whole, to the introduction of someone new." She was trying not to be overly harsh, but before she could even feel comfortable bringing the other into the pride's presence (temporary or not), she would have to talk to Ama, and any of the others who were around...much as she hated to consult anyone before making a decision, she had cubs to look out for, not to mention, whether she liked it or not...her actions no longer affected only herself.

"Well, that's fine." Palidezca said, trying not to be bitter. It's not like she could say she'd expected gaining a place to call home so easy, after all. "I mean, it's completely understandable. You don't know what kind of lioness I could be," She paused, lifting a brow curiously, "I could be looking to infiltrate your pride and kill your leaders."
The female rolled her shoulders in a shrug, and then frowned. "Although...I guess that was a silly notion to put in your head, I do apologize. That isn't, however, my intention. Just to be clear..." Palidezca was mentally clawing at herself for that one.
"That was stupid...smooth move." Came the whispering voice in her ear. The lioness turned her head and snarled at the shadowy lion. "Hold your tongue, annoyance." She spat at him, snapping her jaws at the air menacingly. The tawny-furred lioness turned back to the other before her, rolling her eyes at her shadowy companion.
"He's so annoying sometimes..." She mumbled, flicking her tail, impatient from his behaviour, and then laid back her ears. "Some great impression I'm making." The lioness snorted. "I may as well just doom myself, and leave now." She mumbled to herself, nearing inaudibly.

Binti couldn't help it...she chuckled. "If I genuinely thought you were capable, let alone intended to do such a thing, I wouldn't wait to discuss things with the rest of the pride--I'd chase you from our borders myself." This was said softly, with confidence.
When the other apparently began conversing, even growling, at thin air, Binti's eyes widened in surprise--it was such a sudden transition, and then the other lioness turned back to her, speaking as though there really WAS someone else beside her. Collecting herself in a way Us'kali would have been proud of, she grinned, a quick flash of pearly white teeth. "No need to do anything that dramatic, at least not yet." she said, with a small shrug. Without even thinking about it, she'd relaxed a bit--she was far from being off her guard, but no longer looked as though she were going to pounce at a moment's notice.
"How did you find out about the Ela'wadiyi, by the way?" she asked a few moments later.

Palidezca flicked her ears just slightly, and then rolled her shoulders a little, loosening up just the slightest amount. "Well, he always manages to get me into some sort of trouble." She stated, crimson glance shifted to the side again for a moment, before she allowed it to wander back to the other lioness.
And to tell the truth, it was true. Her craziness (though Palidezca, of course, hadn't the foggiest clue that's what it really was) led her into some form of trouble most of the time, so she had to try and be careful with him here. She had to make him hold his tongue, and maybe even just..leave, even for a little while, so she could work her charm.
"My mother told me about you when I was little. She told me stories before I would sleep. They calmed me down." Palidezca started, tawny-tufted tail swishing back and forth calmly. "She told me stories of all the different prides she'd ever known of, or seen." The pale-furred lioness added, blinking a few times, and then looking about, just a slight paranoid tendency.

At that, Binti did chuckle. "Males have a tendency of doing that," she observed with a grin. The other's mannerisms, while slightly...off-putting, were also somewhat amusing...even, perhaps, charming in its own way. Somehow, though, she doubted the other lioness would share that amusement.
"Did your mother travel a lot, then?" As far as she'd been told, the Ela had always been somewhat secretive, and so the fact that this one's mother had not just known about them, but had known enough to tell her daughter stories about them...was intriguing.

"Yes, she did." Palidezca said quietly, thoughtful, perhaps. "She never took me with her...left me with dad most of the time." The lioness huffed at mentioning her own father, frowning lightly and then oddly enough, spitting in the dirt. "Whom I resented then and do still..." She mumbled under her breath, though it wasn't actually under her breath.
"She never really told me much of the pride. I can really only remember small fragments of her stories, as well, as this was...well, maybe not long ago, but...well, I'm sure you understand what I'm getting at." She finished, the slightest touch of frustration to her tone. "But the little things that I do remember, I've always remembered, and I vowed to one day find the mysterious, intriguing, and apparently very elusive pride, called Ela'wadiyi." Palidezca paused for a moment and glanced about, just doing a random check, to see if there were perhaps any others around. Coast was clear; "I've been looking for this place for a long time, it's such a pleasure to have finally met one of it's inhabitants." The lioness added, giving her tawny-tufted tail a casual swing to the side and back.
"But...I'm sure you've not got time to hear all my personal history and whatever such things. You weren't...busy or anything, were you? I'd hate to be wasting your time..." She trailed off, lifting a brow curiously and allowing her lips to curl into only the slightest notion of a smirk.
