I'm interesting in seeing the different stradegies people would take to directing and/or acting in a Pinter play and dealing with the famous pause.
I've seen a few Pinter plays and their use of pause have always been different. Some directors chose to cut some pauses while others decided to add them. Likewise, maybe productions I have seen made no diferentiation between "pause" and "silence" in the script.
How would you go about it? What do you think the difference between a 'pause,' a 'silence,' and the ellipsis is?

I dunno. I've always thought of a pause as shorter than a silence. Ellipsis to me is like a trailing off or a searching for words. Then of course, I may be way off the mark.
Ultimately, it's the director's choice, I suppose.
