Mteuli was slowly getting used to traveling again. But he had to admit, it was different then it used to be. He still had a passion for seeing new places and meeting new people, but his heart always called him back to his mate and his children. But that was how it should be and he regreted nothing. He was returning from a bit of wandering today, heading back towards the jungle. He pace was easy going and comfortable. He was in no rush. Home wasn't too far away and he'd be there soon.

Despite his recent jungle adventures and the shady path(*) he now walked under the trees, Muroki still found his mind returning to a much more arid setting...to his lost sweetheart and the end of his lifelong quest. As much as he had once loved to wander and roam, the disappointment kept returning to him. Shaking his head, he tried to find some distraction in the beauty of the humid jungle. It would not be good for him to dwell too much in the past.

(* Obviously not /the/ path. ^^' Just an animal trail.)

Mteuli emersed himself in the foliage and the humaid air. Ahhh, how he had missed it! For though he appreciated the beauty of other places, his home was his paradise. He moved through the trees with deft paws, knowing excactly how to manuver in this type of setting. He listened with appreciation to the sounds of the birds, frogs, and other creatures living so diversely here. But soon he paused, hearing the movements of something a little different.

A small smile touched his maw-another lion was near. Never passing up the chance to be socail, he moved forward and found himself quickly on an animal trail, but a few feet from the visitor. "Good evening," he welcomed in a warm voice.

As yet still a bit unused to filtering out the 'background' noises of the varied wildlife, it was only as Mteuli got closer that Muroki realised it was another of his kind. Feeling foolish, he dipped his head politely in greeting. He'd need to get used to this terrain if he planned to stay here and learn to ignore the birds and frogs and insects.

"Good evening, stranger." The tone he used for the word stranger was simular to how many said the word 'friend'. Because what is a stranger but a friend you don't know yet? It took alot to make him speak the word with a cold, flinty voice.

Mteuli took the greeting well, for he felt a similar way. He was friendly with everyone and was willing to be anyone's companion. It was part of his social nature. "What brings you way out here? I'll admit we don't get many visitors," his voice was light and welcoming, as if he wished they did get some more strangers wandering around. "I am Mteuli by the way, forgive me for not saying so before," he said with a small nod of his head and a smile.

"Greetings Mteuli. I'm called Malawa." Well, technically his name was Muroki of Malawa, in the fashion of his birth pride, but it was a longstanding habit that he gave his fathers name for his own. It was only after a friendship had been struck up did he share his real calling with others. Fortunately he no longer wove the elaborate lies as he had in his cubhood to go with the false name.

"I was trying to loose myself in this beautiful jungle - I didn't know I'd crossed any boundries. These are pride lands?" He offered a crooked smile. Oops.

"A pleasure to meet you," Mteuli nodded, accepting the offered name to be true. He had no reason to doubt. "Ah...well not quite. My pride is near here, but we hardly claime this whole area," he chuckled a little. His pride had no reason to want more land-they were blessed with the valley they had, secret and protected. He hadn't meant to imply otherwise.

"Oh that's good. I'm afraid I've cause offence once or twice with careless wandering."

"Your pride must be blessed to live in such a lush place." Muroki nodded, accepting this information as fact. So, if he did settle here, there'd be lion neighbours nearby. That was comforting in it's own way, somehow.

"Well, I'm sure we all have," he laughed, knowing he had stepped on a few bounderies in his travels. "Yes, we are very lucky. We are bleshed by the jungle, the forest, and the river. I would choose no other place to live," he smiled nodded his head, his voice thick in affection. He loved his home and it was obvious. He didn't try to hide it, for he was proud of his homeland. Proud to be called a lion of the Unity Walkers and proud to serve under Kiva.

Muroki chuckled. This place seemed a paradise after the sorching desert and bone-filled temple. The other lion seemed very content as well, and that too was cheering. He'd been alone with his own unhappiness and only met angry biting lions for so long it was refreshing to hear something so positive.

"You sound very fond of this place, Mteuli"

"I am. I couldn't think of a better place to live," he said, his eyes soft. His home was about family, about friends, about peace. There was nothing else one could need in the world. Nothing. "If you ever think about settling down somewhere, it's the prefect place to do so," he murmured with a contented breath, his whiskers lifting as he smiled.

The rogue couldn't help the sigh he gave at those words. Settling down. That had been the plan. All their fine ideas! To love and live in the temple, to stay together always...now he'd settle for friendship and the chance to talk with others again.

"I was thinking about it actually - maybe a small den out here, amongst the trees. I don't suppose your pride minds neighbours?" His voice expressed doubt, since the other male seemed so friendly.

"We don't mind, of course," Mteuli nodded. But his eyes showed a great curiousity. Why would this male want to live on his own? Even when he had met travelers, they had all seemed to be seeking company, or at least enjoying it. This male almost seemed to want to be by himself out here-or it was as if he was sentencing himself to such a life. "You know...you'd really be more then welcome to stay with us, if you like. We're all very friendly and more then happy to welcome a new comer," Mteuli suggested with careful, but friendly words.

"I've just lost one home, you see, Mteuli, which is why I hesitant." The gold backed ears flicked down briefly, as he considered it, offering the careful explination. It'd mean he wouldn't have to commute to find a friendly conversation...and this place was so beautiful. If all the lions were this welcoming...it did almost seem fated considering how suddenly this oppertunity had been placed before him...

"It's very kind of you to offer. I'd be honored to stay with you and yours." A polite dip of the head in thanks.

Mteuli nodded, "That's completely understandable. And it is, ultimately, your decision. I apollogize if I pressured you." To loose a home was hard-Mteuli couldn't ever imagine loosing his. He had only compasion for the other male and he wished things had turned out better for him. "But...we are more then welcome to have you, to perhaps...help you start again," he murmured in a smooth, soothing tone of a friend.
