"N-na--haa, no leh go!" A small pink creature squeaked to the giant above whom was currently acting as her "support beam". However, seeing as how Alexander was inefficient as Jamie on skates, the father daughter pair were in paramount danger of falling onto the roller rink floor.
"Please don't struggle..." the gangly youth mouthed as he awkwardly made out for the nearest stretch of wall where it would be possible to seek refuge. "If you struggle then we really should fall..."
To this the toddler sniffed and bit down on her lip as big soggy wet tears welled up in her eyes. "I WANNA GO HUME--" the sweet thing wailed as she dropped to her knees and refused to remove her little feet another inch. This roller skating thing had looked so much fun on TV. Pig tails flopping about from side to side, Jamie tossed her head back and forth as she bewailing her mis-adventure.
"No tears please..." Alex quickly protested, "Jamie doesn't cry...Jamie's a happy girl? ...Please?" Clearly the boy lacked an understanding of parental comforting.

Not the brightest idea in the world. Kaden was mentally kicking himself for agreeing to this trip. Reese was bad enough on his own two feet. He didn't need wheels added to the appendage to cause even more trouble. The kid was so full of energy that Kaden and Riordan were taking it in turns to skate with him. Even with a parent holding onto him and helping him along, Reese was going to be going home with new bruises today.
"Whoa! Watch out, Reese!" Riordan told the fish boy as he almost collided with someone on the rink, then narrowly missed another person. "Stop trying to pull your hand away," the man scolded the boy. Reese wanted to skate on his own, but his dad had a firm grip on his arm.
"Da... Le'... goah!" The boy managed. But the tugging of his little body on his father's arm caused the two to start to lose control. They zoomed over towards the side, Riordan reaching out and stopping them by grabbing the wall.
And Reese's attention was then diverted to the crying girl on the floor. He plopped himself on the floor next to her and awkwardly patted. "Nuh-o... sahd..."

"I DUN WANNA--" tears flooded forth from a hidden source as Jamie continued in her state of deliria. She hadn't thought skating would be so terrifying! The igglybuff was such a adventuresome girl, there were few things that terrified her, but apparently skating was one of them.
No. It wasn't that she was scared to fall, nor that the skates were too unstable. Any good parent would have realized what a child took for fear in this case was frustration that she could accomplish acting on her own in the cumbersome shoes.
Alex understood nothing of a child's world, however, and so let Jamie cry uneasily on the floor. Himself, being very unsure of what to do. He understood she was unhappy but he didn't know why, nor did he know how to correct it. At least this time he wouldn't have to deal with it, Reese would see to cheering her, "H-hello".
Jamie didn't even glance up as the little fellow came skating her way. "Go wah--" the sniffling child mumbled as she reached out a hand and shook her arm to shoo away the unwanted company. She didn't want someone else to see her sniffling like this. After all, any time she cried in front of her real dad he would put her in her room. He didn't like it when she got all sniffly on him. Surely this new company would share the same sentiments.

Riordan eyed the other man warily. This guy didn't seem to mind the fact that his kid was bawling at his feet on a skating rink while other skaters whizzed by them, any of them able to accidentally roll over either child on the floor. "Hello..."
Reese frowned as the girl tried to get him to go. "Goah...? Re'... noah... goah! Re'... st-st-st'y!" Crying meant that something was wrong. And that was never good. "H-huurr...tah?" Injuries always made him cry, that was for sure.

"Nuu--" the small pink thing whimpered,again, as the tears and sniffles ceased and the heaving dry sobs began there assault. She had to stop crying. Jamie didn't like crying in front Zeta and for that matter, she didn't like crying in front of anyone else. So, if this little boy wasn't going to go away, she had to stop crying. Jamie took one, two, three deep breaths as she tried to calm herself down, but she was still very shaky.
"Hello..." Alexander mumbled embarrassed, before diverting his face away from Riordan's gaze. It seemed that both father and daughter were being shy today. However, unlike Jamie, Alexander was always anti-social. On principal he avoided as much human interaction as possible. Yet, being "Jamie's" charge made that extremely difficult. Poor man, he was truly lucky the little girl hadn't been run over yet, while he stood there dazed and uncomfortable.

Reese awkwardly patted the girl's shoudler. He was lost as to what could be wrong. She was crying but not hurt. It didn't make much sense to the magikarp boy, but, then again, not much really did.
Riordan nearly jumped out of his skin as some more skaters whizzed by the group. "Maybe we should move them over to the side...?" The man gestured over towards where Kaden had stood, trying to see where his partner and their charge had gone to. "We've got a table over there. It'd be better than where we're at right now..."

Giving one last convulse breath, Jamie brought a bawled hand up to her pretty pink cheeks and wiped one and then the other. "Hen-tank you," said the quivery little girl, as she smiled and lavished in the attention this little boy was giving her. Jamie enjoyed being the center of things, she liked to be noticed, Reese, was certainly making her one happy camper. Giving a toss of her curly pig-tails Jamie put on a smile and loudly announced her presence, "I Jamie!" ...The concept of polite introductions had yet to be introduced.
"Perhaps so..." the blonde thin fellow murmured as he kept his eyes anywhere but on Riordan. "Jamie...? Shall we?" He hoped she would be willing to leave. Only minutes ago had she madly been begging to leave, but she seemed right happy now. It was odd. Odd, indeed.
Tossing her head back, Jamie's blue eyes gave a subtle look over Alexander. Why did second daddy look so worried? She was so wrapped up in her own world that the passing skaters didn't bother her. If one of them had hit her, the world would certainly hear about it, but until then, she didn't care.
From Alexander to Reese Jamie's head began to shoot back and forth...She didn't want to go now, now that she had company. "No. Stay." Jamie bobbed her head up and down, "Stay with boy."

Reese cheered up drastically as Jamie stopped crying. The fish boy watched the pink girl introduce herself. "Jay....me." He managed, pointing to the girl. "Re'." He stated, pointing to himself. The rest of his name was too hard for the boy to manage, no matter how much his parents tried to get him to say his whole name. In fact, saying more than one syllable without a pause seemed beyond the boy.
Riordan watched the man's awkwardness with the girl. He didn't want to interrupt this family grouping. The man didn't seem to be used to dealing with the girl. Well, he supposed most parents were like that for a while. He knew he'd had a hard time with Reese until Kaden had returned home. The other man was so good with the boy.

"Jamie stay with Re," said the voice that was sweeter than sugar, as she turned to smile some more at the curious little fellow in front of her. How exciting, Re was someone to play with! Jamie got to play all she wanted, but rarely was it with other children. "Jamie and Re go play now," and with that the small child grabbed Reese by the hand and went to stand up. It was unfortunate that all though her attitude may have changed, the slippery floor beneath Jamie, had not.
"Nn--"Reaching out a hand just in time, Alex Jamie managed to soften Jamie's fall backwards and clutching onto her shoulders, gently lowered the girl to the floor. This was becoming troublesome. "Please Jamie?" Reaching forward Alexa took Jamie's right hand, the only that was avalible and tried to help her stand. "Will you--help him?" Alex mumbled, pointing his head towards Reese. It seemed that getting the children to cooperate (or rather Jamie) would have to be a team effort (since she now held the magicarp boy hostage).

Reese was only happy to go play with Jamie, though he was concerned when she started to fall. "Uh... oh!" He sighed happily as the other man caught the girl.
"Sure..." Riordan made a grab at the boy's free hand. "C'mon, Reese. Let's go see if Uncle Kaden's got some juice for us to drink."
That cheered the boy up into moving forward. "Ju'!" He had a language of his own, it seemed. He'd definately need some speech therapy later in life, most likely.

"Close, huh?" Jamie closed her eyes as she smiled at Reese. Speech therapy needed or not, both children were too young to be scolded for not pronouncing there L's, R's, S's and for that matter, any other letter of the alphabet correctly. "S'fun--Yeah!" The little girl squeezed Alex's hand but looked over at Reestee as she said the awkward sennce, and moved her feet fore ward against the slick floor of the rink.
"Yes. It's great fun Jamie," Alex mimicked back, as if he were simply agreeing with the child because it was his nature too agree with whatever Jamie said. A more abysmal, less enthusiastic response, could not have been heard. "Up now." The monotone voice "commanded" as he lifted Jamie and her small legs over the rim of the skating rink. If didn't help pick her up, she surely would have tripped. At least he had the help of another adult...dealing with two kids, when having two adults was better than one kid and one adult. Then again, if Reese had been a trouble maker...ah, well, best not to think of that.

Reese slid about as he was dragged over to the edge of the rink where they could exit and get out of the way of the other skaters. Riordan helped him up and over the step up. Then they were heading over to the table where another man sat, smiling at Reese as the young boy headed that way.
"Un' Un'! Loo'!" He pointed to the girl. "Jay... me." The boy struggled over the name, but he'd managed to get both syllables out almost together. "Ju'?"
Kaden smiled at the girl and nodded to the other man with Riordan and Reese. "Hello Jamie." The man fished out a juice box and stuck a straw into it, handing it to Reese. "Here you go, Reese. Here's your juice."
Riordan sat down with a sigh. "Is it okay if she had some juice?" He asked Alex, making sure it was okay with the man first.

Even before the little montage had managed to draw near the table, Jamie was all ready wiggling, anxiously awaiting the moment she could escape Alexander's grasp."Hiiiii~" beamed the most anxious pink thing, as she pulled one hand away from her keeper, and then another, crashing quite clumsily against the bench of the table. "Ree, who dis?" Were the words that came with the clunk and clash of knee pads and plastic skates as she tried to climb up the edifice before her.
"Oh Jamie--" quite embarrassedly Alexander sighed and reached down to carefully help out the bundle of energy. "She can--have juice, I suppose," the decision was muffled, beneath a still ducked head. What was he supposed to say? If Jamie wanted something heaven forbid he stop it, "If she wants--it. Erm, rather picky," Nic gave a huff, at last getting his charge settled in, "--she is a rather picky eater."

Reese pointed at Kaden. "Da-tuh Unc'" He told the girl, then happily sucked on the straw in his juice box.
Kaden held up another juice box so that Jamie could see it. "Do you want some juice, too?" He asked.
Riordan was rather happy to be off his feet for the moment. He hadn't skated in years and wasn't exactly in top form for it. Then add the fact that Reese is constantly tugging on his arm and he was lucky to stay upright most of the time. Well, it was Kaden's turn next. Luckily they could take turns until the boy finally wore himself out.

Ah, children, they could go on for quite some time. Couldn't they? Heaven would only know when Jamie would finally become bored and demand a nap. "Unc?" The girl smiled as she ran her blue eyes over the stranger in front of her. Did Ree have many parents like she did, too? Oh well, this man seemed nice enough. He was even offering something up for her to drink. "I try," squeaked the girl as pink fingers reached up and squeezed at the colorful box of liquid she now desired. Turning her head to Ree, she wiggled back and forth in her chair. "If Ree like juu, Jamie like tu!"
"Say thank you Jamie," Alex did his best to include manners in every action he could. After all, he had been instructed to do so. Certainly, no child of Zeta's was going to be raised as a little snot-nosed heathen, who could barely mumble the words please and thank you.
"Sank you~"
Alex sighed, this day was becoming terribly long.
