Do you have any interesting/fond memories of writing/reading, as a young child?
Or even something pleasant about learning how to write or read?

Well, I shared my story of how I learned to read in the Autobiography thread, but I suppose I could go a bit more in-depth here, if no-one objects. :B!

From the time I was born, basically, my dad would read to me before bed. As he read, he'd drag his index finger along the page below the words he was saying so that I had a chance to develop the recognition that those symbols actually MEANT something.

Whenever we're at a family gathering or something, I hear the story of how he first recognized it was time to get hardcore with teaching me how to read: I was being driven to daycare and I looked out the window at an advertisement and said "Coca-cola." Ta-da! According to my dad, that's when he recognized that I was successfully interperating letters... or... something along those lines. <_<;;

I read to my Kindergarten class all the time. The teacher would give me half of the class to read to and she would read to the other half. I love that memory. xP

One of my fondest, of many memories of reading, as a young child is when my father would gather us all on sunday afternoon to take turns reading a book of fables.

Another fave memory involving books is cruising auction sales to acquire used or old books. All so that we may enjoy a new to us book. What amazing treasure there were found in such dusty places.

My mom and I walked to the local library with my little red wagon in tow and the librarian always let me check out however many books I wanted since I would return them just two days or so later! I will never forget how much I loved doing that. xd
