As many know, I'm a broke wannabe at this game with a dust-speck of an army, so I decided to make a thread for showing off terrain that takes little to no money and a more-or-less equal amount of skill. Pics of my project will come later. Show off yours here!

I realize that, but this is a thread for a terrain display where the terrain cost $5 or less.

Like I said sprues when cut up and painted boltgun metal. (or another metal color) can make neat rubble piles I use them in basing and small difficult terrain...If I can get a camera I will post pics.

I also use sprue frames as beams and stuff. I hit them with a coat of rust primer red for a battered effect. I also will sometimes use a small tea candle to melts them some to add effect to it. I like making craters. whee

I threw out all my sprues before I realized their use. I used posterboard and colored pencils for a castle wall. I'm looking for foam to make it look less flimsy. Pics as soon as my heathen camera wants to work...

I just made a niftey little bunker I that I plan to make many more of soon. I took the tube from one of those toilette paper roll and put masking tape all around it making a half a tub. Then I just spray painted it grey, followed by glueing some spare plastic peices to make frames and little details on it, and finished up by painting small details on the stuff. Its relitively impressive, and a heck of a lot cheaper

I have made some great terrain out of sprue chunks and foamcore board. The pillar with the marines was meant to be a control point from DOW. The chaos one was a center piece for my cousin (who plays eldar) and my slannesh chaos army to fight over. Both turned out quite well, except that foamcore warps when it gets wet (in this case from the glue to hold down the basing material).

Cool, the DOW control point looks great and yes I agree with the problem of the foam board warping with small amounts of moisture. Quite a problem really, cardboard is ok but still subject to turning to mush with paint and glue. Has any one pioneered a new easy to come-by, sturdy, waterproof material by chance ?

For some reason, I never fell victim to the mushy cardboard effect...

You should coat cardboard and foam in PVA glue first before spraying the parts, works like a good seal and a charm. Even better would be to use roughcoat before you spray it, for extra texture.
