I like both of them.
Not a lot of people like Near, but I think he's cute, with all his toys and stuff... whee

Near is a bit of an a**, L was more sensitive about how he let people realize that he was smarter than them.
Mello is a bit of a spaz. And then he just gets...a little like Light, you know with the whole obsession thing. confused
So over all...I hate both of them.

Ah, you wouldn't believe how many times me and my mom have had this conversation! mad D My favorite of the two is Mello, I never liked Near that much from the start. Although her favorite is Near...it leads to long Death Note arguments of who is better and why. :/

hmm hard to say most people i know like enar ebtetr for his looks
and really i love how he's an a** liek that and for anyone who's read the manga we all know otehr stuff
i love mello as well because he's psycotic, so really i love them both ^_^

but mello loves chocolate and that is awesome
and hes got gunz! near doesnt...
near is a little bit too calm and it makes him seem inhuman as mello acts like a normal person might if they are put under so much stress and plus he is the only cool character that could wear a scar on his face and not yell about it or scream about their beautiful face etc. etc. and he is a character that looks like a villain but isnt... (??? hmm i wonder if he is now...)
and he sacrificed his life and without him near and the other investigation team would have been dead... (which is fine with me because i am a kira supporter, but hey)
and come on, he has an awesome hottie sidekick like matt with him lol

Mello gets my vote. At first I really hated him but after a while he kinda changed and grew as a character, and now I love him to bits. Not as much as L though, but he comes in second.
Near on the other hand... I really dislike how he was made like an L clone, but not really... you know...? I couldn't stand him at first but now he's an OK character to me. I just didnt like how Near is so isolated from everything. He doesnt even go outside of the SPK headquarters. And why does he have white hair? All the other characters had realistic hair colors, and even if their hair wasnt natural, it could be believable that they dyed it. >.<

Mello Mello Mello Mello....*cough* Sorry. I dunno. I just enjoyed his pre-face mauling-accident mannersims. His facial expressions his eccentric behavior. All of it. He's just not the same after the accident, but I still love him just as much. He's more...calm.
