Mother had said not to wander, but mother wasn't there, she was out with Zari's two brothers, leaving Zari alone with Papa and her siblings. Well... she frankly didn't feel like napping the day away, so while they drifted off to doze, Zari got up and snuck off to see what adventure she could find.

Climbing, jumping, running, anything that let her excersize her lithe figure and get in some excersize or play was appreciated. Of her siblings though, only Vita and Kadogo seemed willing to play with her at all. Zita did too but... she liked to be in charge all the time, and tended to take the games way too seriously, like everything had to be exactly like she wanted. Just once Zari wished her older sister would loosen up and relax.

So the cub ventured boldly forth, paws carrying her across the sand-dusted rock as she moved past den entrance after den entrance along the cliffs. Where was that fun white lioness that they'd met a few days ago, or that big male-- Uzulu wasn't it, that had been with her? Zari sighed, slowing to a stop at the edge, then turned her small figure back around to flop down in the shade, hugging the wall with a dejected expression.

"Why isn't there anyone around to play with me today? Stupid heat."

Yes, it was all the sun's fault for making everyone else so sleepy! >[

Uzulu had intended to go back home, and rather quickly, but that mind of his had so quickly been changed. It seemed he'd managed to convince Kaanga to go back without him, and he'd be there shortly after. This being the case, he had taken hold of his freedom with eager anticipation of being alone. There was no where he couldn't go, and silence would surround him like a wonderful blanket.

So where had he chosen to go?

Towards the one place that was probably the most noisy. The dens. It seemed a condradiction of the mind, but for Uzulu, any company was quieter than Kaanga. He didn't detest all the members of The Blood, merely the one's whose chatter never ceased. For as much as he travelled with Kaanga, there was a quiet soul in his body that had come from the many years of solitude in the jungle.

He hadn't travelled for very long, when he spotted something lying silently in the shade. He shook his head for a moment, the heat was clearly getting to his eyes. Nope, there was something, very small, but there, blending into the soft rock and it seemed to be moving, very slightly.

He recognized it, or something in his subconscious did, so he moved in to investigate. Uzulu quickly found it to be the young cub he'd met at Kindono's little speech. Strange folk she was.

"You all alone?" He inquired, quirking a brow.

Zari perked her head up, looking up at the male as if startled out of her thoughts. In truth she was pleasantly surprised, and immediately sprung to life again. Hopping up to all fours, she greeted--

"Not anymore!"

It was like some kind of magic, she wished she had company, and then company appeared! Maybe she had some kind of power that set her further apart from the family? It was improbable, true, but it was still fun to imagine. Oh, but wouldn't Zita just be green with jealousy if that were the case? (She couldn't say she thought her other siblings would care.)

Zari was... cheerful, odd, but for the most part she didn't tend to prattle on or talk much, unless of course there was conversation to be had. She was just as happy to play in silence as she was to talk in high volume.

Uzulu's face settled into a neutral state as she greeted him. He could tell that she wasn't alone now, what was with children and stating the obvious? He sighed and chuckled lightly. Perhaps he'd be better off with Kaanga afterall. She was easy to manipulate, and to some degree, easy to tune out.

Irony. His life was full of it.

Well, as long as he was with the cub, he might as well find out about it. If its parents weren't anywhere about, perhaps he could take it exploring. He'd always wanted a daughter, mostly because he intented to work her mind into ruling, but he hadn't much luck with that. Males were simply to . . . he didn't much enjoy them, daughters were far better.

"So long as I'm the only one here, we might as well go someplace interesting. Dreadfully boring here," He told her, talking a fair amount for him. You could talk to the young, they didn't judge you and had no royal standing. With anyone else you had to watch your words.

"Unless you're afraid to venture to far from your home?" He stretched his legs, as if anticipating some far off adventure. He could inspire this youth's mind.

For a small moment he wondered what Kaanga would think of him. Approve? Probably so. As of yet, he hadn't showed anything but a dark look on the world, and a quiet temperament. Alone, around this child, perhaps something sparked.

Red trimmed ears perked again at the sound of soft laughter, her grin softened into a smile, and for a moment she seemed happy and ready to enjoy the day with this unexpected company.

Oh, but exploring without mother's express permission, she wouldn't be happy at all when she found out.

"Oh... I can't, papa doesn't know I'm out here. Momma would be -really- mad if I left......... Sorry..."

How unfortunate, and she looked quite dejected again at this, sighing heavily and scuffing the ground with one paw.

"Boring is right... There's nothing but rock and sand, and my sisters won't even play with me, all they wanna do is sleep."

Uzulu nodded, he understood the youth's worry. He had not been allowed to wander, either, as a cub. Mother had sowrn at him, telling him to either take one of his two brothers, or a slave with him. Anything for protection, but she would not have her offspring taken from her by wandering off alone. Yet, he was the only one left of his family. Three taken by the plague, and one run off with a slave. Dirty, disgusting beings that they were.

He shook himself from the thought, realizing his face had hardened, and his body and tensed. There was no danger near for him to act thus, and he had no wish to worry the child before him.

"No worries, there are plenty of things to do if you wait for them." He moved into the shade and plopped down beside her, his eyes looking out into the rocky void beyond.

"Cubs sleep. That's what they do. But every once and a while, a different cub comes along. They change the world." He hoped that was good enough for her. He wasn't sure what to say himself. He'd long passed the stage of 'play'. The only thing similar he did was fight wars, and keep agression in his heart. Perhaps it was the way of The Blood, to become angry.

"How many siblings do you have?" he asked after a long silence, curiousity getting the best of him.
