The hot sun burned down upon the golden lion’s body as he rested in the nook of a rock and an old tree.

He liked when the sun burned- there was something about the way it baked over his shoulders and up the stripe that went from nose to tail tip. It didn’t itch as much with the sun so hot, and that made him almost intolerably smug. Even with his eyes closed he smiled, twisting his scraggly tail around his bony hips, and letting the disheaveled half mane shield his face from the direct light of it.

But he wasn’t yet totally settled in for sleeping.

A noise caught his attention, and the unusually large lion rose up from the rock he was resting on. It was a bit tragically ironic that he was not so slight- had he been even the tiniest bit bulkier, he might have been imposing. Instead he was a strange creature, tall and built something like a twig. His lack of tending to his apperance didn't help the situation much either. He had the look of someone who might have been chucked off a cliff any number of times before waking up every morning.

The sound grew, and he lazily stalked off towards it. Some food, maybe? The grass was heatstricken, and broke like dust under his paws.

She had not parted from his side since they met up, though why she could not say. They were both seeking someone. Logic argued that they would cover more ground working seperately, but for whatever reason it may so be, they had opted to travel in one another's company instead.

The pale mistweaver was on the move for food right now, stalking through the dried, sunbaked lands while Vian, her counterpart, looked elsewhere. Had Meilin known that she'd find such an encounter waiting for her in place of a meal, perhaps she would have suggested waiting or relocating to begin their hunt.

As it was, she didn't. She wasn't blind, she did see Kamal as she began to cross his path, but with only a lazy half glance in his direction it was obvious that the female held about as much concern in his presence as she did intrest. He was simply there, and as far as she cared, useless to her as anything but a sign that the pickings here were clearly slim.

((Kimya: T___T Don't you talk badly about Kamal that way!! It's not nice! ;___; ))

Kamal breathed in the hot air and swept his head about once or twice, the sun glinting a bit in his eyes. The sound again- like footsteps... and then, perhaps brazenly, a female walked haphazardly by him. She blended in with the sun for a moment, until she obscured it enough that his eyes were crossed with her shadow. She seemed to glance at him out of the corner of her eyes as if to let him know she saw him, but otherwise was not looking all too interested. The young male balked as she continued walking. The nerve!

He sat, and twitched his angular swap of a tail. He’d not seen her before, but it wasn’t hard to mistake some lady kin of some pride. And there were few things he disliked even more. What would Hakan do? He would take any of that, that was for sure!

Kamal puffed what little shape he could give the twig like frame, and sauntered over towards her, stopping quickly in front of her in an attempt to force her to stop. “Ah!” Kamal half barked. “Yous thinkin you can just walk on by like that, miss pretty legs? What if I was some kinda crazy rogue? Show some respect!”

Meilin did indeed stop, but judging by the irritated glimmer in her ghostly gray eyes it wasn't going to be in Kamal's favor. Her pale orbs were half masked as white eyelids slid slowly down to hide them somewhat, as if shielding herself against some unknown annoyance or threat that his presence posed.

"I'd say you've already prooven that that is exactly what you are. Now if you would be so kind, I'm busy and you're in my way."

But she wouldn't wait for him to move. Hardly! Meilin took it upon herself to step around the other rogue, even going as far as to brush past him with a cold shoulder. He really had some nerve demanding respect from her like some king of some pathetic little rock.

Kamal ruffled himself up and scowled, pushing back against the female’s shoulder with a sudden quick jab. “Hey!” He snapped. “I’m talkin to yous, crazy b***h.” The male slapped his tail once and crossed back around her. “What, are you too good to talk to me? I ain’t ruffling you up any!” Everyone thought they were some kind of royalty nowadays! It was disgusting.

“You gotta get some kinda manners, pretty legs!” He spat. “Now, come back here and apologize!” Insanity! All he was doing was trying to talk!

She would have been happy to continue on her way, leaving it at that, but in her attempt to move past found her shoulder roughly buffetted. The result of which was for Meilin to flatten her ears, bare her fangs in an agitated warning, and hiss softly her contempt and annoyance, which seemed to come on rather suddenly. She certainly didn't appreciate being called such vulgar names, just because she'd crossed paths with some heat-stroked lunatic.

"I don't owe you a damn thing! You're nothing but a stranger to me, albeit an exceedingly annoying one! But you very clearly were not taught the meaning of any such thing resembling manners, or we wouldn't be having this conversation!" She snapped, glaring at him as if unintimidated. Insanity indeed! Meilin was certainly not known for being charitable on a regular basis, but with such a clash of opinions and a festering short fuse due to a lack of food and lack of search results, impatient was piled on top of her icey, sarcastic droll. "Now get out of my way!!" Came the second verbal bite, this time followed by an ominous flexing of her claws. She certainly wasn't above fighting off some scatter brained ruffian, nor did she even think to call for help though Vian was close enough by.

Spreading out to find food was a tactic Vian was used to. Back home in the desert they had always been forced to fan out, less they miss the rare opertunity at catching something. He knew Meilin was capable of hunting, so there was no complaint on his part when she suggested it. He was a gentlemen at times, but never needlessly so or foolishly.

He didn't know about Meilin's luck, but he had come across gazel grazing not far off in the direction he had chosen. And while most lions would have used stealth, that wasn't his approuch. It wasn't that he couldn't do it, per say, it was just that he had experience in something other lions lacked. In the desert there was no where to hide, so one always had to rely on one's speed and agility. And this is what he taken into account now.

While the catch wasn't easy, he managed it with rather deft paws and had turned back to head in the opposite direction, dragging his catch by its broken neck. After a few minutes at a good paced lope he caught Meilin's silvery form in the distance. And that of a stranger.

“Manners!” He balked. “Yous the one with no manners, pretty legs! Walkin around on my piece of dirty rock and barely batting an eye! Hardly polite treatment, for someone like me!” The heat prickled his brow, and the tall and awkward lion took a few hopping back steps so to keep himself consistently ahead of her- despite the fact she was bumping him.

What was with all these uppity females nowadays? It seemed like the only two good women left in the world were his mum, Kinja, and his little sister Kimya. Who- unbeknownst to him, really wasn’t all that little anymore either. But this! It was so damn frustrating. To think he had still yet to find a mother for his marvelous offspring! Now that, was maddening. What was wrong with ladies?

“You’re a crazy woman!” He suddenly accused- as though she was responsible for all the other misgivings. Despite his obvious vantage point- he saw nothing of the other male in the distance.

Meilin gave one final warning growl, giving up on trying to move around the male as it only served to anger her further. Her entire body was quivering with agitation and the anticipation of a fight. As he kept "dancing" on his paws before her, her eyes were furiously glued to his form, fangs bared as if waiting for a moment to strike.

It was his verbal insult that finally pushed her over. She lashed out with an earth-shaking bellow, silvered claws slicing with intent to draw blood.

"Don't you dare call me out of name again you cocky b*****d!!" She snarled,"My name isn't 'crazy b***h', or 'crazy woman', but I can certainly ACT like one if you keep pushing me!!"

Vian pulled his ears forward, for as he drew nearer he began to catch snippets of the conversation, but more so the tone. What he first heard started at irratated and disgruntled, but progressively got worse. He was even coming to see some pushes going around as well. Vian was one who had grown up with brawls, having so many brothers and then a younger sister who enjoyed the tussles just as much. But he could tell this was a more serious matter, for neither was joking and neither seemed willing to give in.

Though from what he had heard and seen he felt far more inclined to side with Meilin. The rogue was being rather vulgar and rude and pushing rather idoitic matter. And he saw the jump in tension-from irratation to preparation for a fight. Though his body did not mirror these signs, he reacted swiftly, laying to rest his catch and moving forward to meet them.

He arrived but a few seconds after Meilin's strike, his actions quick and precise. He stepped cleanly between the two of them, separating them from one another, though his stance was more towards Meilin, an instinctive wall. He didn't even notice the slightly-protective action. It was as natural as standing before Runeh while Mikail fumed and raved. "What's going on here?" He asked in a rather calm voice, concidering the situation.

Kamal caught the strike in the face- and it might have sorely surprised him if it wasn’t the same spot he kept getting hit at lately. But she still had packed quite a bit of power into it, and his neck jerked harshly to the side before he could tilt his neck enough to stop the motion. The nerve! He sputtered and lowly groaned. Did she know who the hell she was dealing with? No one just hit him like that, and most certainly not a lioness!

The male gruffly moved forwards, trying to use what of his height he could to throw her off balance. But while it would have worked with any other lion, he was thin enough for the charge to only bring out awkwardness over them suddenly being so close. Frustrated in that movement- he shoved her with the blunt of his narrow paws. “What the hells is your problem, you crazy bitches!” He snapped.

But before he could decide on a more divisive action, a male stepped between them. Now that was agitating. “Hey friend, if you don’t want to get your face messed up, you’d better step out of my way!”

Meilin didn't grow smug when her hit connected, she didn't look pleased, she didn't look regretful, she didn't even look as if she cared. The idiot deserved to be boxed in the head a few times if he was too thick skulled to know when to back off. That was her thought. At Kamal's charge she only growled and bared her fangs, staggering back a bit from the hit, taking another swipe at his face, claws once again unsheathed. That arrogant whelp was going to wish he'd never spat such an insult!

"Men, you think you own the whole damned world just becau... se....?" Meilin was abruptly cut off as a wall of blue and black striping entered her vision, blocking the brown "flea-bag" from view effectively. What on Earth? She hadn't even noticed his arrival, so caught up in the moment that a familiar scent didn't even register in her mind to call attention."Vian?" She sounded surprised, or perhaps dazed, but it wouldn't last. Kamal kept blathering on, and Meilin's expression soured into a scowl again. She tried to get around Vian as well. "You arrogant sack of fleas-- you couldn't hurt me if you tried all day!!" She snarled, thoroughly infuriated and in general quite fed up with the poor rogue.

"Meilin," Vian said softly, but firmly, "Calm down. He's not worth the effort." There was nothing in his tone that suggested her anger or reaction was wrong-it was a simple request that followed logic. And in all honesty he was rather impressed by her spirit. But fire didn't cool fights and he could be impressed later. Right now he had an issue to address.

"As for you," he said to Kamal in the same tone, though it was a little mored chilled and his eyes were rather hard, "I hardly think you can call me 'friend' with such threats. Leave the lady be. This conversation is over. I'd head on my way if I were you." That was the only warning Vian was going to give. He was kind, but he was hardly soft.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 26, 2007 5:59 pm

“Head on my way?” Kamal snapped, his fur rising just below his shoulder blades. “Friend, I think it’s yous who best be movin on! I don’t care if she’s your lady or not. You people apparently don’t know who I am! I ain’t done nothing I shouldn’t, particularly with yous being nothing but strangers here. You better learn some respect if you think you can camp yourself out around these nomad lands.” The golden male sidled. “Things don’t work pretty like a pride here, lovely.”

It was possible that somewhere in Kamal’s mind a little warning light was blinking on and off. And it wasn’t really that he didn’t realize he was in danger- it was that he simply could not allow himself to realize it. He wasn’t going to skirt tail like some sort of lady or pridelander. The very idea of it made him balk with anger.

What would Hakan do? Surely not take this kind of disrespect!

She knew that Vian was right... but it didn't make her annoyance any less, though for the sake of being reasonable, and to avoid instigating a fight and getting Vian caught in the middle, she did bite her tongue. Biting her tongue, however, did not mean that she couldn't glare at Kamal, nor did it mean she had to stop growling or baring her fangs a bit. She was displeased, and the tawny rogue WOULD know it, even if he didn't care.
