[ Okay! I was just wondering how everyone else got into papercraft or Origami!]
[As for me: ]
[ I got into Origami when I was a kid. We used to do stuff like that in art class a lot. then I sort of just stopped doing it. But in my Japanese class we started doing origami and I had forgotten how fun it was! So I kind of picked it up again.]
[ With Papercraft...I had bought a "leave it to Piyoko!" manga that had some papercraft inside. although at the time I didn't realize what papercraft was. and, okay, I admit it. I had heard a lot of bad things about 4chan so I wanted to see for myself. I thought it was a shock site, so I was surprised to see an anime, cute male, and papercraft&origami board. I had never heard of papercraft before, and I enjoyed the manga papercraft package I had gotten earlier, so I got into it.] xd
[ So, share stories if you have them.] 3nodding

Ah- good ol' /PO/... That's how I found papercraft as well. =p I should have some links to other sites that have more papercraft templates somwhere in my (vast amount of) boomarks. I think I have some Japanese sites too (if you can read /don't mind reading a little japanese/ navigating the sites)^_^;

[ @ Aunt Flo: Woo! That was my sig! I'm glad it worked! Yeah, Papercraft is pretty fun! It's a new concept to a lot of people.]
[ @ Rena: That would be great! Then I could update the PaperCraft Base. I can read a lot of Japanese, so it would be fine for me at least. I put "(jpn)" next to links that are Japanese so browsers will know.] n_n

Um, with Origami I think it was in one of my classes in elementary school, we read a book and it had an origami pattern so I did it. I really liked doing it, so I continued to do it.

[ It really depends on preference.]
[ printer paper is harder to do sometimes so maybe stock paper/ hard paper is nice to use for better results.]

Yep, pretty much the same.
When my husband got laid off I really had to cut down on the cost of my crafting. Before I was working in baskets, flowers, beading, duct tape, gourds (I'd paint and carve them), I'd also make models.
So when I saw papercrafting I pretty much was overjoyed. It's something I could do for relatively cheap.
After he went back to work (It was a 2 week lay off) I just stuck with it. I've only made two models and they turned out .. eh, ok, but I am still learning. I'll post pictures when I get something that turns out better. Haha.

I actually found out about papercraft through a magazine article, which led to a site with some pretty complex patters on it, for a beginner. But I love fiddly stuff like this, and I was hooked!
