((Anyone can post, as a visitor or with an SM or whatever. n_n S'why it's not a PRP.))
The scratch of a pencil against paper echoed through the Jivvin mansion, and then a slap; Lenta's hand, with a Post-It, hit the front door. It stuck there, and with that last motion of the morning, Lenta dropped the pencil and slammed the door shut. There was no time to waste. Mauli was already in the car, along with Remy, and the three were heading to the hospital alone that morning. Mauli's contractions had started at about seven, making her howl in pain so that the whole house woke up. After assuring some of the younger pets that she wasn't dying a horrible bloody death, Lenta had helped her daughter into her old Toyota Camry, parked outside, and now the Post It note would tell anyone who cared where they had gone. For, in scribbled letters, it announced boldly(through several tear stains and eraser marks):
"Mauli's in labor, gone to hospital. Lenta, Remy and Mauli <3"
Huffing and panting, Lenta slipped into the driver's seat, quickly buckling up and putting the car into reverse. The small family slipped out of the long wooded driveway, turning and speeding off towards the hospital. Lenta tried to ignore the choked conversation between her son and daughter, vaguely aware of the fact that Mauli was crying. It was so hard for her little teenage girl to be going through this... And hard for her mother, as well. She was only a bit older than Mauli, and already going to be a grandmother. As they neared the hospital, Lenta listened in on the conversation behind her.
"W-what have you decided on for names, Mauli?" Remy asked, resting his skulled head on Mauli's swollen stomach. Mauli hardly flinched; She had gotten used to people touching and pressing against her stomach. Too many people thought it was 'fascinating' that her unborn child kicked against her stomach at random times. She shrugged, sniffling softly as she flicked a tear away.
"I was thinking... Either... Cael or Kailee. It just... depends on if it's a girl or a boy." She sniffed again, and Remy reached over, biting down on a tissue and passing it to her. Gratefully, Mauli took it, dabbing at her eyes before pocketing it. She might need it later, especially with the way this whole thing was going. The two fell silent, with Mauli running her fingers down Remy's velvet-furred back, reminescing on what was about to happen. Finally, Lenta stopped the car in the emergency room parking lot, her brow furrowed. She pulled the door open for Mauli, and the two SMs stepped out, Remy curled around Mauli's shoulders. The trio attracted some very odd stares from some of the nurses, but Lenta had called ahead and asked for their regular doctor. Erienne Umax, a small, thin woman in her thirties, escorted them to a waiting room, then led Mauli to a back room. Remy, unable to follow his sister for this bit, paced at Lenta's feet as the worried mother sat rubbing her forehead. A few minutes later, Dr. Umax came out, flashing Lenta a confident grin as she helped her to her feet and shook her hand. Lenta blinked.
"It's already over?"
Dr. Umax snorted. "Of course not! Since i'll be in with Mauli for a while, I just wanted to congratulate you early. A grandmother at this age..! It sounds absolutely spiffin'!"
Lenta blinked again. "Um... thanks." She desperately tried wriggling her hand out of Umax's grip, but the cheerful doctor had a very tight hold. She kept pumping Lenta's arm, grinning from ear to ear.
"I've already spoke with Mauli about it, but i'm afraid Remy can't be with her when it begins... However, you'll both be allowed into the smaller comfort room when it's over, and the baby will be brought in after we clean it up and such. No worries! She'll be fine!" The grin grew, seemingly stretching up into the odd little lady's hair, until she finally let go of Lenta's twisted and bent hand and toddled back into the emergency room. Lenta took one look at her hand, then pulled a face, making Remy snort derisively at her feet.
"What a... charming lady." Lenta murmured, pulling a small bottle of hand sanitizer out of her pocket. She emptied the whole thing onto her hands, rubbing hard as she looked down at Remy. "What d'you say, bucko?"
"Yeah... Chahhhming." Remy commented dryly, then sat. "Eh... It won't take long, I s'pose. Cor, but how I wish I were in there s'well!"
Lenta nodded sympathetically, then scooped Remy into her arms, cuddling him close as a tear rolled down her cheek. The teal SM sighed, dabbing at the droplet of water with his paw until it dissapeared.
"Like she said, ma... No worries, y'hear?" Remy murmured, curling up on Lenta's lap as the worried owner grabbed an old People magazine from a side table. "This'll be over soon, then we can all go home with a new addition."
"I hope you're right..." Lenta replied, flipping to an article about Michael Jackson. And then, the two began the long wait.

"Squeeze, Mauli." Dr. Umax instructed, hovering over Mauli's bedside. The unfortunate SM was gripping the railside of her bed, her face pale as she fought against the contractions wracking her whole body. Umax shook her head, then patted Mauli's hand, dabbing at her forehead with a damp cloth. They had already given Mauli some pain medication, but her body rejected it; The remains lay in a bucket in the corner, along with most of her hastily downed breakfast. She was going through it without the meds, and Mauli was practically blinded by the pain. Grunting, she pushed again, panting loudly as something kicked her leg. Umax wrinkled her nose, instructing one of the other nurses to help. She dabbed at Mauli's head again, sighing softly.
"Give it another... Ready? One, two..." Mauli pushed, harder this time, beads of sweat rolling down her forehead. The room was stifling hot, but none of the stupid nurses would turn on the air conditioning... Dammit, who did this for fun!? Certainly not her. Never again. She kept chanting in her head, ignoring the stinging pain coming from her lower half. Never again. Never again. Never again. Another push, and then a loud cry rent the air. Mauli stopped pushing, her chest heaving with relief, the tail curled around her leg loosening its painful grip. It was done, and now she could sleep. The doctors hovered around the precious thing they had just delivered, squeezing the fluid from its throat and nose and rubbing it vigorously with a towel before rushing it from the room. Umax revived Mauli with a bit more water, looking pleased as the pirate SM woke quickly. Mauli growled softly, blinking against the light.
"Am... is it..?"
"Yes." Umax replied softly, her eyes shining. She tucked Mauli's blankets in around her, then wheeled her out a back door, where the air conditioning quickly cooled Mauli's fevered brow. The small room they had set aside for her was just that; Small. But it was comfortable. And Mauli was so tired.... So very tired... She quickly fell asleep, the hum of the air conditioning lulling all thoughts out of her mind.

The two and a half hours had been very, very long. Lenta was now stacking the finished magazines up in front of her, balancing a few at odd angles to see how long they'd last. Remy would periodically tug some from the bottom, causing Lenta's tower to slide one way or another, and then the two would laugh nervously and continue with their own little boredom games. It was a suprise when Umax threw open the door to the waiting room, causing Lenta's tower to slide to one side and fall all over the floor. Lenta, however, didn't care. She stood, narrowing her eyes at Umax.
"How is she? The baby? Can we go see?" Lenta and Remy said at the same time, as the former scooped the latter up into her arms. Umax laughed, then nodded. She led the anxious two towards their missing third, directing them to a chair at Mauli's bedside. Lenta placed Remy on Mauli's stomach, leaning over to place a motherly kiss on her child's forehead. Mauli's eyes fluttered open at the touch, then she smiled weakly up at Lenta, reaching up with one hand to ruffle Remy's head fondly. Umax cleared her throat after the gushy moment had subsided, then beamed, announcing proudly.
"It's a healthy, beautiful little baby girl."
The trio exibited their thanks by cuddling together and weeping, long, loud and hard. Umax left them to their coddling moment, a tear sparkling in her eye.

Jen turned another hallway.... He really hated hospitals... and secondly he really hated this... and his mother... It was all her fault in the first place that he was here... He was only slightly friends with Mauli, he didn't know Lenta at all, and he certainly didn't know that rude nurse that had (supposedly) pointed him in the right direction... yet here he was, sent here by Keppit to check on Lenta and Mauli.... Keppit had heard that Mauli had gone into labor and wanted to come and congradulate her and Lenta... But Keppit didn't think that the hospital would let her in since she was a zombie now... Jen snorted...
As he rounded a corner he caught a glimpse of teal around a door that was left partly ajar... he padded quietly up to the doorway and sort of peered in...... inside was Remi and Lenta and..... Mauli.... laying there all propped up on pillows.... Jen thought that she looked tired and wondered briefly if it was all over... He was always so nervous around girls... he had never gotten on with them at all when he was younger.... it was just as well that he turned out gay afterall he thought... since whenever he was around girls he always got this sick feeling in the pit of his stomach... and seeing Mauli was no exception...

Remy spotted Jen from his place on Lenta's stomach, and flashed the nervous SM a grin. His movements made Lenta and Mauli turn, and at the sight of Jen her stomach flopped. Why had he come..? Mauli hardly knew Jen. Oh well, she supposed it was just a friendly visit. After all, Lenta had a big mouth, she had probably told Keppit all about what had happened.
Lovely.
She waved weakly to him, smiling slightly. Lenta grinned, pulling up a chair for Jen.
"Glad y'could make it!" She said perkily, still beaming like an idiot.

Jen swallowed a lump that had formed in his throat... Just say what you were told to say and then you can get on out .... "My mom wanted me to... Um... come and say congradualtions to you Mauli... and to Lenta and Remy too... she would have come here herself if she thought that the hospital would let a zombie in... and she hasn't got the best of personal hygeine right now... um... yeah.. so congradulations... " He was already sitting in the chair... and once he fell silent he began to get even more uncomfortable... he was trying not to look at Mauli but deep down he realised that he wanted a look at the Baby... He was torn between leaving and staying a little longer and the fact that he was so uncomfortable made him need to shift a little bit... he rolled his shoulders in an attempt to loosen up a little...

With a grin, Lenta bounced out of the room, her cellphone in hand as she began punching in the numbers of everyone she knew.
Mauli nodded, absently stroking Remy as she digested Jen's information. Then, she flashed him a smile. "You're gonna stick around, then? I'm sure they'll be bringing her in any minute now..." T'least, Mauli hoped so. She was beginning to worry.

Shiro sat in his favourite armchair, bored as hell. "Man.. This is so boring.." he grumbled his arms across his chest.
"Shiro!" xhilaration shouted jumping up and down happily. "Oh! Guess what! Guess what!" She asked jumping up and down happily.
"What...?" Shiro asked dully, rolling his eyes at his "mother".
"Mauli! She had a baby! Isn't that great?!" xhilaration said squealing happily.
Shiro eyes bulged open. "What?!!" Shiro shouted in shock. "Who?! What?!!" Shiro asked, in shock looking at xhilaration as if she was mad.
"Mauli and Isto. She had a baby." xhilaration said as if this thing happened everyday.
Shiro stood up angrily, anger burning in his eyes, he grabbed xhilaration and swung her over his shoulder.
"H-Hey! Where are we going?! Oooh! Is this hit and run?!" xhilaration shoted dumbly, bouncing up and down.
"We're going to the hospital." Shiro said monotosly, placing xhilaration in to the car and speeding away.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Shiro entered the building angrily, stomping around, causing people to look at him. He marched up to the next.
"Tell me where Mauli's room is." He demanded, not caring of how rude he was being.
"5th Floor, Turn right immediatly." The young receptionist stammered, quivering in fear.
"Thank you." Shiro said idly, gritting his teeth, he dragged xhilaration to the elevator.
"Sorry about that." xhilaration apologized to the receptionist, shooting Shiro a glare.
Shiro stormed to Mauli's room, luckily the door was open, or else who would've broken it.
"Mauli.." Shiro said as if her name was venom, glaring at her.

Mauli sat still, one hand gripping the blankets that were wrapped around her still-weak body. The other was loosely hanging over Remy's back. She trembled, staring over at Shiro for a moment before closing her eyes.
Remy scowled, feeling the tremble run down his back. He stood, making his way to Mauli's head before sitting on her pillow, effectively blocking Mauli's view of the pissed SM fifth stager in the doorway. He hissed softly, his hackles raised.
"If you haven't come 'ere t'congratulate 'er, I suggest y'leave. We don' want no arg'in, not in a time that's s'posed to be 'appy."

Jen had just been sitting there trying not to look at Mauli... trying not to think about how he'd never get the chance to experience sommat like this... when Shiro burst through the door.... Jen saw the look on his face and stood up... he was off the chair and standing upright on his hind legs with one paw on the bed to stabablize himself and in less than a second he was between Mauli's bed and the Anthro Sm in the doorway... he was a rather large Sm to begin with, but all the working out and weightlifting that he'd done since child hood had really made him quite a muscular beast... he didn't meet Shiro's gaze but rather stared at the floor... he wasn't trying to make Shiro mad at him... just stand right where he was... out of the corner of his eye he saw Remy do almost the same thing... Jen brought his gaze up to Shiro.... "Hello Shiro... Haven't seen you in a while... How are you?"

Shiro's face softened at the moment. "Right.. I just came here to say congrats, and hope you have a happy life." Shiro said calmly, xhilaration shooting him a quizical look.
"Now, since I feel like I'm not wanted, I guess I'll leave." Shiro said turning around absently grabbing xhilaration hand and walking out the door.
"B-but, Shiro.." xhilaration said her face softening. "I thought you wanted to--" She said before being cut off.
"No. We're leaving." He said demandingly, walking out of the room, not looking back.
"Congrats, Mauli! I'm happy for you! Same to you Lenta!" xhilaration managed to say before being dragged out.

"That's not true..." Mauli murmured as Shiro was leaving. But, then he was gone, and she shrugged and sighed.
Remy just shook his head, nudging Jen lightly as a thank you. He had jumped readily to bar the way, and for that he had Remy's respect. The teal SM made his way back to Mauli's stomach, stretching out across it with his head on his paws.

Jen just watched Shiro leave... it was a shame... Shiro was a good guy... well maybe... Jen had to admit inwardly that he didn't really know Shiro at all ... his last encounter had been when Jen was still a child.... still.......
Jen turned feeling suddenly very akward.... "Mauli... do you want me to leave? ... because I'll go if that's what you want... " He glanced at Remy... she already had his company... and she didn't really know Jen... He was just in the way... and the more he thought about it the more he realized that he MUST be intruding.. and he started to blush...

"No..." Mauli shook her head, smiling from her place in the cot. "I enjoy the company. If you wanna go, though, that's fine..."
Remy watched Jen silently, his tail flicking across the thin coverlet that warmed his sister. The poor guy... He really DID feel awkward here.

Shiro stopped abrubtly at the door, his back facing her. He slowly turned his head, a soft expression on his face, showing his loneliness.
"It's okay.. I've never felt wanted anywhere..." He said quietly releasing xhilaration's hand walking out the door quietly, not saying a single word.
"Shiro.." xhilaration said softly, bitting her lip she stood there quietly, not sure what to do.

Jen just stood there thinking for a second... On the one paw he was intruding on what was a family thing... a VERY family thing... but on the second Paw... He wanted to stay and see the baby... he wanted to see the one thing that he'd never get a chance to see ever again... this was his only chance...
"Ill stay then..." and suddenly he got a rush of guilt as he realised that he was using Mauli and Isto and their child to be even a witness to something precious.... "Promise me... though... that you'll ask me to leave if you think I should leave.... " He blushed... "Do either of you want something from one of the vending machines? or... anything...?"

Mauli nodded slightly, her mind racing with both Jen and Shiro's words. She felt very helpless, lying there on that cold cot with rejection swooping down on all sides. Then, she shook her head at Jen's offer. It must have looked odd, that quick nod and then the opposite, one after another.
Remy flashed Jen a grin. "Naw, but thanks."
Just then, a nurse began her trip down the hall. She was a short thing, with stubby, fat legs, and a homely smile plastered on her face. In her arms, covered in a soft pink blanket, a small little child rested against her bosom, making small mews of protest as she searched for more warmth. The nurse met Shiro on his way out, grinning at him before entering the room.
