"And you absolutely had to bring him?" What a conversation-starter! Today, there was little need to hide his animosity, though. Not around this woman, who knew him for all that he was. She probably had been rooting around in his thoughts, too, when he wasn't paying attention. He wouldn't put it past Kyo. Mother dearest.
The diner was small, and a bit too bright for his tastes, but it was a secluded place where little business was happening. That and his ex-caretaker had suggested it in hopes of catching what was becoming a dear friend of hers. Well-manacured nails tapped distastefully against the cheap ceramic of the coffee mug set before him, sending soft tinkling sounds ringing about the table. Over a pair of wire-rimmed glasses, orbs of dark sanguine gleamed with a hidden feral quality, all but glaring across the table... to where one purple-banged child sat in a booster seat on the outside of the booth, hunched over a kid's menu. If Xerksis noticed the intensity of such a stare, he gave no sign, continuing to color one of the bears on the page a dark purple.
"Yes..." Kyo sighed softly, propping her chin up on one hand. Her navy eyes watched the crayon marks move in and out of the bear somewhat chaotically upon her child's whim at first, seeming to be lost in thought. Then, politely, she returned her attention back to the dark-haired young man in business attire. "He doesn't like Ebony. Or Kaze."
The toddler snorted at the names, but nothing more. The woman reached out to give his hair a fond ruffle.
"Just a royal brat, then." Talis stated, lowering his eyes away from her gaze to the black liquid before him. Where the hell was their lunch? He blinked when a small collection of sugar packets were passed to him, staring up at the slack-faced woman across from him steadily before plucking up a large clump of what the container had to offer and beginning to gingerly tear off their tops. She was dangerous.
"Sounds like someone else I know..." The woman continued, her pale lips quirking a soft smile. Talis snorted haughtily.

"Do not wish for the food." The chubby aliens voice was firm and he was frowning up at his parental unit. The parental unit - Patrick, coincidently - simply shrugged and put his many-ringed hand on Kians back, pushing him lightly inside the diner. "Parental. Am NOT wishing of the food."
There was another shrug from the lanky dark man and those creepy red eyes of his slid downwards to rest on his son. Kian was growing taller and most astute but he still slid back into childhood every so often.
"Maybe this world doesn't revolve around you, Kian." Patrick mused finally, letting his gaze go to his other child. Yashima. The little pale fox. He was sniffing the air curiously, tail lashing out behind him. At Kians disgruntled snort, the scientest grinned. "Yashi wants to go inside. I think he's hungry."
A frown pulled at Yashis mouth, his ears folding back against the light strands of his hair. "I am not stupid. There is someone in there."
"That IS stupid, Yahshee. Are MANY some of ones in the dwelling. Is a public area."
The fox hissed, hand lashing out sideways at his brother in irritation. Kians reflexes were slow in his body, giving Yashi time to lash out and then slip inside of the diner without much of a fuss. He could hear his tousan and his sibling following behind. His fathers steps were mild.
Where was it coming from? Another sniff or two led him darting past tables, small yukata fluttering, until he was beside Xerks booster seat and facing Kyo.
"Hello." The small boy said in his way of informing the gaurdian he was here. And the squid boy! Yashima turned towards him, watching the child color curiously. He never colored. "Hello."

Talis was just raising his cup to take a sip of coffee when Yashima showed up, eyes narrowing down at the boy silently. Then there was an accusing stare passed to Kyo, which she obviously didn't catch, her attention drawn by the fox.
"Hello, Yashi..." She greeted the boy softly, not seeming surprised by his sudden appearance. "Have you come here for lunch too?"
"Yashi." Xerk repeated, looking up from his coloring activity to the other, taking in the familiar white hair. His free right hand flicked a red crayon towards the overseer, offering in some silent way to join, though it was quickly becoming very boring to him. His hand then reached out for the boy, trying to gesture him closer. Still bigger than me.
"Don't tell me we have to accommodate strangers..." The man grumbled to himself, eying the oncoming Patrick and Kian. He didn't like strangers. And he hated kids.

The fox flicked his tail in another greeting towards Kyo, his fingers rising up for a brief flex. He liked her. She was a bit too dominant for his tastes but she would have to be, raising the demanding little purple one.
"Smelled Xerk." The flexing hand rose to pet at his friends dark hair and then to catch the red crayon. The wax stick felt odd in his hand, alien. Different. So he scooted closer, head tilting to rest on Xerks own in companionship.
The bear then got little flames drawn around him. Small little things, far enough for Xerks scrawlings wouldn't hit and the b oy become angered. "You will be bigger, one day." He assured him, nodding slightly. "Was smaller then you, when small. And in past past, when I was not me, I was small." Another little nod from the fox here.
Kian glared right back at the man, his chin tilting up a notch. He was no longer the Rebel leader but he wasn'ts ome strange mans glare toy. "Parental, have wish of a fork."
"No."
"Is looking at as if offensive. I have need to spear his nose to make sure the smelling is not offending of him." The aliens voice was dark and it earned him a glare from his father.
"NO, Kian. There's a reason you're on Gaia, you know." Patrick sighed, hand moving to Kians hair to push the boy slightly behind him. Kyo was granted a quick smile. "Sorry. Yashi kind of dragged us in here."

The sense of smell was an amazing thing, Kyo mused to herself, unaware that Xerksis even had a scent besides the shampoo she fought to wash his hair with. She gave an understanding nod of her chin, indeed amused with how docile her child seemed to be around the boy. He was becoming a bit more picky now that he no longer needed to be so much of a sponge as he had been. He didn't even like most of the relatives he had to live around anymore and, on some days, she was quite certain that he didn't like her either.
A grunt was offered as the yellow-eyed child watched the flames rise around his bear. He'd never seen fire before himself, and wondered briefly what the red tongues were. Perhaps ribbons, like the ones his niece wore in her hair. Hmm.. Yashima had weird tastes then. "Past past..." He didn't understand. But as to his growing... It is close. It better be.
Kyo silently stiffened at the mention of the past, her eyes lowering to Xerk. No, he didn't know what such a thing meant. He couldn't. She didn't know whether or not she should be thankful. She turned her head to Patrick in time to catch the smile and nodded her acknowledgment to him. "It is fortunate that he did. I haven't seen you in a while..." Her actual acquaintances were so distanced and few. "Please, while you're here, won't you have a seat? Can we offer you lunch? This is Talis, my son. Talis, this is Patrick, Yashima, and...Kian, was it?" She silently looked the boy over, taking in his unique features discreetly before trying to meet his eyes.
"Charming." Talis purred, though he didn't smile, lifting his fine black brows in a delicate display of feigned innocence. 'I will hurt you, little boy,' the quirk of his lips said before the end of the mug was lifted to his lips, 'and it will be a pleasure.' The coffee was sipped and savored with lavish, and the man did well to stay perfectly cordial for the moment.

Yashima paused at the others words, glancing back at him. His fingers paused around the waxy tube and the fox grinned a little. There was a nod and, in the corner of the picture, two little smilies were drawn. The larger smilie had squigglies cming from it's hirline and it's eyes had no pupils. The smaller smilie had fox ears and three small lines on each side of its face.
"Past past. Before Xerk was Xerk and Yashi was Yashi." He agreed, his voice light, "But it's not fun to remember. Past past is not fun." Again, his hand paused and the crayon was laid down, fingertips moving to stroke through the dark hair. "And it is close! Being small doesn't last for so long. But growing is odd."
While they were chatting, Patrick did everything in his power to ignore his sons words. He didn't want to know what his son remembered. It wasn't as if Yashi had ever offered up any information before, other then screaming, andwith that, he simply didn't want to know.
"Kian," He agrees, ruffling the neatly brushed dark hair of his alien son. The short boy scowled, smoothing it down accordingly and giving Kyo a look-over that wasn't quite discreet. She wasn't foul-expressioned. She looked nice.
Thus, she got a brief, jerking little bow soft of thing before Talis' voice hit his small ears. Some more glaring occured - some spurred on by the smack upside his head - before Patrick grinned. "If you don't mind, Kyo, it would be nice. How have you been?"
In response to Talis' smile over the rim of the mug, Kians lips peeled back to reveal rather sharp teeth, shining a bright white beneath the dark skin. He hissed between the slips of his teeth, thick reptiliane tail swinging behind him.

An approving grunt was given upon sight of the smilies, for the one that seemed to be him was the bigger one. He tilted his head a little, causing those bangs of his to sway. "No..? Hnhm.." Maybe he wouldn't know of this past past. Better yet, he could merely make it go away if it wasn't fun! Yes. Whenever something was not fun, Xerk had a knack for making those causes go away, mostly by kicking and screaming. Of his radiating skill for causing migraines, he was not aware, nor did he know how to control them. And speaking without mouth-words was natural. It was just that everyone aside from Yashima and his mother liked to ignore him.
Kyo didn't move her eyes, but she listened carefully to the conversation going on between the two, so very tempted to reach out and link into whatever was passing through their minds. And she could do it very well, yes, without either feeling it, perhaps. Just what was Yashima telling her son...?
At the little bow, the woman dipped her head in acknowledgment. A polite child- always very refreshing. "I've been well, thank you. And you?" Her pale fingers on the table lifted very minutely, twitching to the left. Those blue eyes never left Patrick and Kian, but the movement was enough to still catch the young man across from her's attention. She wanted him to move over and, after setting down his cup, he complied. Kian was ignored, as if Talis had simply forgotten about him despite his hissing. Both of them were under some restraint though, weren't they? Both with parents to loom over them. But the dislike was made apparent between the two, so what else needed to be shared? If Patrick was in his right mind today, he'd be the one to sit next to the business man, for even now Talis drew his fingers somewhat thoughtfully over his silverware.
I am finished. Xerksis announced to Yashima, sitting up in his booster seat. The crayon was dropped and flicked away carelessly, before his gaze turned to Yashi yet again. The black one what does hiss... can be fun? Where is more fun? Always had to be entertained, didn't he?

Yashi just shrugged a little, making the smilies sprout the proper bodies. They were stick figures and nothing better, really. He was a child, not an artist. He liked to cook often but without that little talent, he was just an average, grumpy little fox thing. When Xerk was 'finished', the silver haired being just shrugged a little, watching as the toy rolled away, forgotten and unwanted.
"Kian can hit things with his tail. And he has claws." Yashi raised his own hands, flexing his formidable little boy nails in demonstration to that. "He's fun if you make him angry. He shouts and punches things. Then he tries to bite Tousan, like when he was small. I just think he does not like being fat."
The comment about his weight was met with Kians face going completely flat. It even tooka moment for his jaw to clench, the muscle twitching briefly under his throat. He was the one who sat next to Kyo, his dark body rigid in hostility. The alien was about two seconds from loosing his temper and either jumping over the table to hurt Talis, for Yashima was his Sibling, or turning to the side and beating hte hell out of Yashi, for Talis was a 'guest' of sorts. Oh, the conundrums.
If Patrick was aware of either of his childrens conversations, whether with a toddler or within them selves, he didn't let on. Instead, Talis gained a seat mate and Kyo earned a grin from the scientest. "I'm doing decently. Work. Kids. Dealing with crazy people. You know, Kyo, the usual." His attention was diverted briefly towards Talis, one colorfully pierced eyebrow arching up on his forehead. "And I have to give you kudos. Usually only I can reduce Kian to a silent, foaming fury in a matter of moments."
When Kian snarled, a deep noise in his throat, that was when Yashi turned from watching them to back to Xerk. This time, his voice was an inward one; no use to tell the parents now that they were distracted. We could go check out the kitchen? 'Mel told me there's lots of weird stuff back there.
