Oookay not that I want this to be a trend of negative posts but I have one other thing to ask you guys. I like to hear everyone's opinion. So where did the whole awesome Necromancy go? I mean ok to be fair it's still in there...but not very much. it seems that LKH is making the story line more about the Arudur and triumverates (aka SEX) than about her original awesome power of Necromancy. She began as this kick a** dead raising chick and then all of the sudden it was like "oooh I'm the lupa...look at me now I'm namir-Ra, ooops I have some tiger in me trying to escape, Oh no the ardur just whored me out again, and now SUPER MOM?!" lol...come ON! She's this mega ultra super being who gets new powers each book but never seems to use them...I say forget the other powers and focus on your original gift... but that's just me. She was supposed to be "animator by day...vamp hunter by night..." Where'd all the monster s**t go? I know she doesn't have a clear line anymore as far as the monsters go...but there's good and evil...and there used to be some actual resolution at the end of her books... "I raised a dead guy, caught the murderer (s), and SOMETHING got accomplished"
Maybe in her next book LKH will mix it up by bringing back some focus to necromancy and having Anita make some hard decisions. One of the things that makes a hero likeable are his/her flaws and weaknesses...those things make them seem more human. If they are all powerful...it's just not interesting anymore...
Anyways that is just one reader's opinion. heart

She still uses it. Granted it's nearly subconcsious, but if you recall, it was the necromancy that kept the masters of the city awake a few times, even Damien. It's what helped kept them alive once or twice. Not too mention it was her power over the dead and the living dead that helped keep Marme and the like away.
Not every book shows her getting a new power. If it does they're not all explored at once. The arduer she's learning to deal with as time goes. She can't learn such things in like an hour to one day.
Personally, the vampire politics are just as dangerous as Anita going out and being the Executioner. It's apart of her new status. She will always be the executioner no matter what and she is first and foremost a Necromancer. That power is what has everyone else so afraid of her.

Must say I agree. Bring back the zombies, pleasepleaseplease! Give them more than a passing page! cry
(Oh, and I agree about the too-powerful thing too. But mostly zombies would be good!)

Laurell K. seems to have a habit of introducing something or someone, but never really finishing it...like, they're there and if she has room between the bedroom scenes, she'll use it.
That's the impression I got when meeting her.

I want desperatly for there not to be 5000000000001 ideas and plot lines running about unfinished and tangled together in a giant ball of WTF!!!!
though maybe there will be some horrible comprimise between the zombie side and the Uber powers side and well get power whoring anita comanding armies of the undead..... unlikely... but armies of zombies are still fun.

I do miss the necromancy. I'd like to see her raising the dead again and maybe back up off the sex. BTW I totally started singing "Where have all the cowboys gone" when I saw the title.

Bottomline: She's still human....<< She's still a necromancer! She will always be a necromancer.

Well, I think all of this is supposed to lead up to what she needs in order to defeat mother dearest. But thats just me. Speaking of things to focus on, not only is the necromancy gone, but has anyone else noticed that Jean-Claude seems to be taking the back seat? I mean, he came first, even before Richard, and they both seem to be shoved behind. Edward too. But they are some of the coolest guys in the effing books!

I know what you mean....I really miss Edward!!! He became obsolete after obsidian butterfly...= (
What now that she's so "ooooh all powerful" she doesn't need presents of mass distruction from Death? Yes I noticed that poor JC has taken a back seat...he was MADE for the driver's seat or AT LEAST the passenger's
As a side note...I actually read the next Merry Gentry book Mistral's Kiss and it wasn't so bad....at least I expect sluttery from merry...it's required to make the story progress...
