Place: Other Side of the Waters
Time: Elliot is a child. He has not seen other Illusions like himself.
Environment: Very rich in aquatic life. Many plants harbor the ocean floor and groups of fish swim by all the time. There are plenty of "rocky" spots due to coral reef growth. However, it is fairly close to the surface, unlike the other neighborhoods.
References: Reef Ecosystem

Elliot lived an adventurous life. Although he never lived with other illusions, or ever seen one before, he was somehow able to speak the illusion language. Darn, but he couldn't seem to communicate with the other living creatures around him. "Stay right there, you little rascal! Give me back my seaweed!" he would yell, but they wouldn't listen. Elliot's attention span isn't long at all. He often tried to swim towards the surface. But he is always distracted by newly discovered creatures along every layer of the sea.

Elliot was passing by the coral reefs, looking for an adventure, or at least something to do. Although Elliot has never had a companion, he could never grow accustomed to the boredom that he felt. Days were hard to get through without some excitement. His daily "adventures" of swimming to the surface and exploring new things began to get -- well -- boring.

Not a lot of creatures dare to approach Elliot because of his awkward character. However, there is one little creature, a stingray, that always lingered around Elliot.

One day, Elliot spotted a shark in the near distance. "All right!! That shark's in for a great scare!! Haven't seen one of those things around for a long time. Wonder what it's doing here." Elliot was ready for another adventure. Elliot wondered what he should do to scare the big monster with. It wasn't good to be discovered, so Elliot hid behind a big rock.

Unknown to Elliot, a stingray was darting through the waters shifting from left to right in search of a place of safety - for the shark was shooting after its tail. Unlike Elliot, the stingray tried to avoid all types of troubles but on a search for food, the stingray stepped into its territory. "Oh no," the stingray thought, "I want to get out of here!" Just then, some random thingy jumped out from nowhere, throwing the stingray off his path. Terrified of all the commotion around him, the stingray tried to find a hiding place, hoping that the newly appeared creature was a good enough feast for the shark. Indeed, the shark became more interested in the larger potential dinner. And that dinner was Elliot.

Not exactly knowing what he just did, Elliot became the next target for the shark. But the shark's reaction to Elliot was too calm to further hold Elliot's attention. He expected the shark to turn away and flee. Instead, that little blue creature, called a stingray, gave him interest. He's never seen that kind of creature before. "Alright, something to do!" Elliot yelled. He darted after the little stingray.

The stingray paused for a moment. "Hmm," he thought, "What am I doing?" The small silence was broken when he turned around and saw two figures chasing after him. "Oh my, who are these two?" he asked himself.

"Ha! You are one interesting little creature! You don't hide after a scare! Well, let's see." Elliot moved closer to the stingray. "I got to document this down in my little notebook." Elliot was about to pull out his belongings, when all of a sudden, he felt a strong and unusual shift in current. "This is not something that should happen on a fine day like this," he thought. He took a glance to his left and saw the shark's teeth hovering over him, ready to snap his teeth and engulf Elliot and the stingray.

Now the stingray remembered what he was doing: "I'm running away from a shark! What am I doing so still here?" The stingray, also within the shark's mouth, swam up to the top of the shark's mouth. "There!" he said, and inserted his stinger into the gums. He broke off the stinger from his body and left it in the wound of the shark.

Elliot utilized this chance of escape and grabbed the stingray. He headed towards the mouth's opening, right in between the shark's sharp and rigid teeth. "Almost there!" he said.

Finally, they were able to escape from the shark and fled to safety. Elliot did not look back and hence did not ever know what happened to the shark.

For a couple of hours, the stingray remained unconscious. Elliot examined the behavior of the stingray and documented it in his book. When the stingray woke up, he asked, "Hi little fellow! What's your name?" The stingray replied, "I don't know. What is it supposed to be?" Elliot, confused, wondered what he was talking about. For the longest time, Elliot didn't understand why the stingray would have no name. Nor could he understand why he is now able to communicate with the stingray. Elliot never held conversations before primarily because he could not understand the language of the creatures around him. As he sunk deeper and deeper into thought, he...

"Please," the stingray pleaded, "give me a name. I will try my best to be useful to you."

The illusion felt a little sorry for the stingray. It seemed to have some sort of psychological problem. "Alright. Then from this day forward, you shall be called 'CJ.' Is that okay with you?" Elliot again took out his notebook and refined his notes on CJ's condition.

Place: Other Side of the Waters
Time: Elliot is an adult now.

A year after living with this stingray, Elliot found him extremely annoying. He could not go on his adventures by himself. And the stingray would always mess something up whenever he tagged along. "Why are you always following me?" CJ was absolutely frustrating to Elliot. CJ was already very healthy and his stinger had already grown back. So why can't he go back to where he came from? Multiple times, Elliot tried to abandon this stingray.

Although Elliot had left CJ in places far from home, his conscience always led him to go back to retrieve him. Elliot cared for the stingray, but he had not realized it. After a couple of times, CJ seemed to know when Elliot was pulling a trick and always swam around him like a bee attracted to honey. One could say they are inseparable because of this.
