After hours of curling around the two pups- his son, Dax, and his newly adopted daughter, Bindi, Jaxom had managed to carry the small wolfess within his jaws in a delicate manner while Dax was easy to stir and had wearily trailed beside him back towards the den. Faile was probably worried since neither he nor Dax had returned but wouldn't she be surprised when she found that there would be a new addition to the family! Knowing how compassionate and loving his mate was, Jaxom assumed that the jet black wolfess wouldn't mind another daughter or be too worried of having an extra mouth to feed.

As the sun was due to rise within the hour, Jaxom staggered into the cave and found his loving mate nestled around their pups; Eiros, Fenuku and Vashti. Coming alongside of the tawny and carrot colored male, the small black and white swirled pup yawned while a suttle grin seemed to cross his maw as he looked towards Fen and, instinctively, padded towards the brown and orange pup and flopped down aside him.

Still carrying the slumbering pup within his jaws, Jaxom smiled and gently laid the female right up against Dax as to make sure she had enough warmth along with the rest of the pups. Yawning, the beta dragged his paws across the ground of the den and trailed beside his mate. Nuzzling against her and pressing his head gently aside her cheek, the male rumbled a soothing yet tired greeting. "Mornin' love," he spoke, tenderness and fatigue in his voice as he planted a delicate kiss upon her maw and curled his body around the pups.

It had been a long night as the beta had assumed the position of staying awake and keeping an eye out if any predators or hungry creatures were lookin' for an easy meal. Luckily the night had been quiet and the small grove of trees had provided a shelter away from the likes of any beast who would dare to lay a paw on the pups. The orange tipped tail of the male thumped softly against the ground as his eyes grew heavy, blinking occasionally as he tried to stay awake.

But it was no use, he needed to at least sleep and put his body to rest for several moments or for an hour or two. Besides, every wolf needed its sleep and Jaxom was no acception to the need.

The night had been long for the wolfess, having been saved from certian death from a pair of noble and kind wolves. Making a new friend, as well as a new family, she had been so greatful to aquire such loving wolves to call her Father and Brother. Thoughts on her extended family like a mother, siblings and Aunts and Uncles hadn't even crossed her mind. Sleep had overcome the sunny femme, sleep so needed that she hadn't even stirred once during the trek back to the home of Jaxom. The only thing she felt was the sudden additionall warmth, stirring slightly as she nestled her face into the wood scented fur. However, something seemed to click in Bindi's mind...scrunching her brow as as she let out a soft groan.

Lifting her head groggily, she cracked open her blue eyes to look around as she discovered she was nestled against Dax in what seemed to be a cave. A total of four pups lay beside her, it seemed these other pups were Dax's two brothers and a sister. As well, his beautiful ebony mother, and Jaxom who lay asleep at the enterance. Smiling warmly, she yawned deeply and shook her sleepy head. Was this what it was like to wake up to a warm, loving family?

"Oh no!" She squeaked before quickly shutting her mouth as she didn't want to wake anyone. She was soooo late!

Slowly crawling away from Dax and the other, she blinked as her next task was to get past Jaxom without waking him and asking questions. She didn't know how to explain it...her religious morning routine might seem foolish to anyone but she. Yet, it was just something that she had to do. Carefully placing each pawprint softly and silently against the ground, she inched past the sleeping Jaxom. Leanding her head out to sniff at his pelt to get his scent so she would be able to return back home, Bindi took the last few steps out of the Den.

Sighing in relief that she made it, her head tilted up to the sky to calculate how much time she had left...which wasn't long till the sun would rise. Looking back to the cave as her tail wagged softly, she figured she wouldn't be long and would return before anyone was the wiser. With a giggle, she took off to the path to her secret spot.

Dax mumbled and nestled closer to Bindi as a yawn escaped from his gaping maw. Shifting slightly after several moments, the ebony and white swirled pup scooted closer searching to nestle his head atop of Bindi's but was sadly greeted by the cold floor of the den. Rolling slightly as his body seemed to sprawl out in a small array, Dax's icey blue orbs flickered open wearily as his head seemed to swivel in all directions.

"...Bindi?" He whispered low, eyes darting about the den with brimming curiosity as to where the little female had run off to. Looking past Faile and his siblings, Dax shifted away from Fenuku and staggered onto all fours.

Drifting upon the ground, the small pup intook the familiar and pleasent scent that lingered within the air. Knitting his brows with curiosity, Dax began to head towards the entrance as the females scent seemed to linger and taunt his nose. But there was one problem.

Jaxom.

Close to Faile and the one closest to the entrance, Jaxom often slept by the front to ward off any intruder or the unwelcomed from their home. And it also was quite the inconvenience when Dax sought alone time. Wrinkling his muzzle as his tail twitched anxiously behind him, the black and white swirled pup padded as quietly as he could around his slumbering father. Dax pinned his ears against his skull, walking sideways as his eyes were focused upon his father and making sure that the tawny and carrot colored male wouldn't awake.

But just as Dax was aligned with him and was almost out of the den, Jaxom nestled his head upon his crossed forepaws and moaned slightly.

With the sudden movement from his father, Dax's heart began to pound furiously within his chest and the small male wasted no time. Leaping into full strides, he was barely able to catch a quick glance of the small blonde pup running onto one of the lesser trodded deer paths that were numeorus throughout the Tian Tang packlands. Continuing to run, Dax followed Bindi though he resisted the urge to yell or call out for her.

The small pup, simply, continued to follow Bindi's lead.

"Gotta hurry, Gotta Hurry, Gotta hurry!"

She panted out, thankful that her wounds from the night before hadn't been to severe and luckily scabbed over during her time in slumberland. Closing her eyes for a moment as her paws soared her across the ground, she never felt more alive then running towards the sunrise as the golden aura broke across the milky black sky. Taking in a deep breath of the crip forest air, her eyes flittered back open as she knew exactly where she was heading.

She could find this place no matter where she resided.

Casting her gaze skywards, she caught sight of the first traces of sunlight brimming on the horizon; yet at this pace she was sure to make it on time. At the small incline, she pushed her body hard to make it up the hill and skidded into the beautiful flower patch giggling. Panting for a moment, she tilted her head up and breathed in the magnificent scents of the flowers...oh how she loved it here.

Dipping her head, she stood and wandered around the patch, sniffing around for signs of her mother having been here. Finding none, she dropped to her haunches at the tip of the hill's declining slope as she stared off into the woods where her mother used to always meet her every morning to watch the sinrise with her. Remembering the conversation with Jaxom the night before, about how one should release their emotions or else they would swell and consume one into the darkness of their own souls...she knew she couldn't keep her sorrow inside.

Biting her lip as she could feel her breath seize up, she knew she couldn't keep hoping that her mother would appear here everymorning....the disspointment was breaking her heart into millions of little peices. Choking back a sob, she felt the warm tears spill out of her cerulean orbs and slide down her cheeks to drip on her paws. She couldn't keep coming here and letting herself down like this, how could she ever find peace when she kept torturing her hopes and emotions on a daily basis? Her mother wasn't coming back, it was just reality. Litre, Alexander and other pups seemed to realize this and move on....why couldn't she?

Taking a ragged breath, Bindi tipped her muzzle back to the dawn breaking skies above, howling out her lonely song of sorrow and pain; "All of my memories keep you near; In silent moments I imagine you'd be here. All of my memories keep you near, In silent whispers, In silent tears...." Dropping her head to her chest, the crying pup closed her eyes bitterly and bit her lip....Alone as always as she was too swept up in her emotions to even notice Dax had followed her.

Faile came roughly to awareness, her legs jerking and twitching as she whimpered softly. Finally her jade eyes flew open, and she stifled her movements. Another nightmare...disoriented, she sought to reassure herself by nuzzling first her mate, then each of her pups in turn. Fenuku, Eiros, Vashti...her nose hit empty air when she moved to nuzzle Dax.

Her eyes focused and narrowed as her nostrils also picked up the scent of a strange wolf. A puppy...had that been why Jaxom and Dax had been out all night? It answered that question, but brought up more. Why was she here? Where was she now, and where was her son?

"Jaxom," she hissed quietly. "Who is she?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 22, 2007 10:26 pm

With his tounge lolling out from the side of his mouth and small pants expelling from out of his maw, Dax cotinued running through the woods while his mind was busily conjouring up thoughts and reasons as to why the blonde pup had left? Was she not happy with his family? Or perhaps she was mad with him? Dax wasn't aware if he actually did anything wrong but guilt seemed to weight heavily upon his heart seeing that Bindi had left the den.

"...I hope I didn't make her mad," he mumbled to himself.

As his eyes narrowed towards the small hill whose top was spattered with vast flowers whose colors were of purest gold, orange and vibrant yellow, Dax slowed to a meager trot and hid himself within the shadows that were cast down from the towering pines. A whine escaped from his muzzle as he watched her sitting upon the hill and-

Was she crying?

His ears seemed to fall against his skull while his tail wrapped around his body. She was sad, but why? Dax had remembered vaugely of Jaxom speaking with her concerning the loss of family and of grief and, perhaps, she was sad because she had no true family. A soft whine escaped from his maw as he began to take a step forwards but as her howl broke forth from her maw, Dax yeilded in his steps.

The blonde pups how was drenched with despair, grief, suffering, pain and loss- she was forgotten. her sorrows were solacing up towards the skies, hoping someone or anyone would hear her or as a song and a way to rid of the pent up feelings that were welling up inside of her. Dax turned away from the scene as his mind began to revel within his own pains, his confusion and his shattered soul.

He gritted his teeth, cleching his jaws tight, as a snarl seemed to slip throug them.Bindi knows of pain- pain like Dad knows. But no one knows my pain. I can't howl, I can't cry, I can't let anyone know. Tears can't help me as only anger, cruelty and ruthlessness are my words; they take the pain away for me. His thoughts were dark and, once again, the battle between light and dark, good and evil, was consuming him with an internal battle. Dax wasn't twisted nor sick- he was, simply, split between the kind, sincere, selfess gentlemen and the ruthless, savage, cold-hearted and distant figure that he tried to keep contained.

But the resistance to keep such a part of him contained was becoming harder and the light within was falling victim to the depths of terrible darkness. The black and white swirled pup was facing a devastating challenge at such a young age and he was losing the battle over himelf.

Glancing back towards Bindi, his thoughts reverted from their darkness as the recollection of her kindness towards him helped the light regain it's rightful throne once again within the midsts of his icy, blue orbs. He didn't notice nor think of it much as to what an impact the small wolfess was having upon him and to even find the right words to explain it were unfathomable! There was something about Bindi that...made him happy.

Padding from out of the shadows, Dax began to slowly trail towards the hill. "Bindi.." he softly called out with a cautious tone, "....what are you doin' out here? Dad's gonna be sad that you left."

~~~~~~~
"Oooh," Feeling his mates gentle whisp of touch against his fur, Jaxom smiled wickedly as his emerald orbs flickered open, "time to bring "you know what" back?" Yawning as his maw gaped open, the tawny and carrot colored male turned to look at his mate. He blinked suddenly and perked his ears upwars as she seemed- well, a bit upset.
"Oh, Bindi? Dax found her on the brink of death submerged in the small river not too far from here, love. She has no family and really needs someone to take care of her- she's just a pup." Nuzzling against the jet black wolfess, Jaxom rumbled with a deep, soothing tone and wuffed softly. "I couldn't leave her out there, Faile. And Dax-"
Jaxom stalled in mid sentence as he furrowed his brows. Dax; he had never shown anyone so much kindness before and he was the one who saved Bindi, truth be told. He had never seen his own son held anyone outside of the family before.
"Dax saved her from the river and kept her warm. He has a hard time trying to find a suitable comfort zone even in the family and opening up to anyone. Maybe Bindi is the key to helping him break away from being so reserved and distant; Maybe this pup can help him learn how to express his feelings, love."
Pressing his forehead against hers, Jaxom gazed into her captivating orbs.
"What do you think? Can she stay?"
"Mama..." Bindi breathed out, shaking her head side to side....such a word was supposed to comfort and delight a pup - not bring out such stabbing pain to her young heart. If only she knew why she was such a unworthy daughter to have her mother abandon her...it wouldn't hurt as bad. Maybe she could even try and fix it, yet it was no use, no use at all. Opening her reddened orbs, her blurry vision settled on the flowers at her feet as they began to glow as the sun continued its rise over the distant mountian range.
"Wha.."
Snapping her head back as the soft voice drifted to her ears, Bindi blinked as her heart twisted as she spotted the white swirled pup make his way up the slope. She didn't want him to see her like this, the thought of seeing his sad face tore at her heart in a weird way; like his pain was her own. After he had been so kind and done so much for her, this was how she repaid him by making him worry and come out here to see her breaking down. Lifting her paw quickly and brushing the tears out of her fur and eyes, she smiled before rising to her paws.
"I'm sorry Dax...I didn't mean to wake you and make you worry." Bindi said softly, her ears flattening slightly, yet her tail still wagged gently behind her. "I hope your Dad isn't mad at me...I just....." She took a breath, watching him approach her before sitting back down....knowing the truth was in order here. She couldn't lie to someone who was now her brother...
"I couldn't miss the sunrise." Bindi sighed, casting a glance to Dax before shifting to look at his paws. "Ever since my mama never came back, this was the spot we used to live, and every morning she would come to visit me here and we would watch the sunrise together. Its stupid...but I feel that maybe if I keep waiting here each morning...she might show up through that thicket of trees like she always did. Its the only thing I have left to cling to, the only hope I have of her finding me again. Don't get me wrong, I love your.....our family for what they've done for me, I am so greatful. I just can't let this go....even if I know its just my stupid feelings getting the best of me."
Bindi shifted slightly, glancing to the rising sun before biting her lip tenderly...gosh, she was a wreak. Yet...why was she so flustered around him? She didn't have such a problem around Litre and the other pups...infact, she was shy to them! Bindi didn't know what it was about Dax, perhaps it was the fact she owed her life to him....but she would find out.
"Oh! I'm babbling.." She giggled lightly, leanding over and nuzzling her maw in Dax's chest..breathing in that same woodsy smell she inhaled when she awoke. "It...would mean a lot to me if...maybe...well, you wanted to see the sunrise with me? It would be nice not be alone for once, and it really is the most beautiful thing you'll ever see...I promise!" Placing on a geniune smile, her head cocked to the side lightly, her tail thudding against the ground lightly.
"I mean...It'll be fun to actually do something with my new brother!" She yipped happily....although the statement didn't sound right at all coming out of her mouth. I wonder why... She thought.
Relaxing as she listened to Jaxom, Faile nibbled on her mate's ear thoughtfully. "Well of course she can stay...but where is she right now? And Dax? If you hadn't noticed, neither of them are in the den right now." She glanced to the entrance with a soft whine. Perhaps her anxiety was misplaced, but she was a young mother and inexperienced, and determined not to let any of the pups in her care fall prey to the cruelties of the world. "I'm glad that they get along...but if she was on the brink of death last night, should they be wandering who-knows-where so soon?"
His icy, blue orbs grew somber as he tilted his head slightly. "...Don't be sorry," he commented in a soft spoken tone. "Dad doesn't get upset but he'll eventually realize we're gone and mom might be a bit upset that he didn't notice it." Her reason as to why she wandered off seemed to catch the small pup off guard yet listening intently as she spoke.
"I'm- I'm sorry to hear that...but maybe she's just waitin' for the right time to come back. Maybe she's waitin' or she's just out there somewhere but you got me and my parents plus Fen, Vashti and Eiros too."
Dax wasn't quite sure on how to respond or how to react. Light and dark seemed to not take heed as the internal battle continued to rage within him- the howls and cries of the inner demons had yet to surface and merge with him but, already, time was slipping away until that moment would come into a tangible reality. It would be a time where the emotions, the pains and his darkened persona would be able to howl, solacing to the moon as if no one was listening- crying and drowning out all sounds with such a mourning wail. In the back of his mind, he could hear their thoughts- his own dark thoughts of his split soul.
Crying won't bring anyone back. Hiding yourself behind a mask can only fool people for so long. Hope only lasts for so long, and why does she still think she'll come back? There is no such thing as hope; wer are all destined to become what we we are, to become of darkness. This is the true essecence of power, is it not Dax?
His eyes shut tight as a small hackle slipped out from between his clenched jaws. He had to fight back; he wasn't going to slip. "Destiny can change..."
A chuckle surfaced at the back of his mind, it's presence chilling as he supressed a shiver.
You are so nieve, child. You will come to learn of what you really are- what your uncle Damu could have been if only he would have let the darkness consume him but his mate let his light overpower such great darkness. But you, you Dax, are something special as is your brother, Fenuku. The same potential rests in you but it seems that your brother is becoming susceptable to an even greater potential. But what will you become?
Shaking his head as he repressed his alter persona back into the depths of. his mind, Dax sighed softly while his posture was tense and ridgid. His attention had been focused elsewhere as Bindi had explained but he had managed to catch the jist of it and could outline the story. As she nuzzled againt his chest, the ebony and white swirled male perked his ears upwards as strange emotions seemed to flow through his veins and making him forget that he was, indeed, split between light and dark.
"...Watch the sunrise?" Only taking a few moments to think, the young pup grinned as his tail thumped behin him. "Yeah! I'll watch it with you!" The thought to say "sister" entered his mind but his maw couldn't let it slip out. It was so strange to think he had a sister and even thinking about Bindi as his sister- well, it just didn't make sense nor sound right.
Maybe it just had to sink in a bit longer?
~~~~

A relieved and joyful wuff sounded from his maw as he nestled deeper into her ruff and slinked his maw upwards to nibble upon the jet black wolfesses' ear. "I thought you'd say that, love," he chuckled softly, "and Dax and Bindi are right-"

Blinking several times as he stopped in mid sentence, the tawny and carrot colored male felt his heart suddenly race as he counted the pups. Vashti, Eiros, Fenuku- His eyes widened as he scrambled up to his paws. "They were right here! I left Dax and Bindi right here!" He stammered, begining to pace towards the entrance and wafting his muzzle within the air. Jaxom's nerves seemed to calm slightly as the scent of his son and their adopted daughter lingered faintly within the air. It was still trackable and certainly he could find them.

Looking back towards Faile, Jaxom warmly smiled. "I'll go get them, love. They can't be too far."

Smiling intently as her cerulean orbs drifted up to meet his own, Bindi couldn't help but be overjoyed that he would stay and lay witness to such an important event in Bindi's life. Sunrises reminded her of essetially her family, even if she couldn't remember her father, or siblings...her mother and she both resembled the morning rays; they must have as well. Often it struck her why she had to be secluded from the rest of her family...upon asking her mother the saddened Alpha would only smile and nuzzle her with the saying 'Fate has made it so, someday you will see them again.' Reguardless...it had always puzzled the pup.

Being so neive, the blonde pup had no idea of the tormenting troubles which resided in Dax. In her eyes, he was her saviour and closest confidant; his inner demons having yet to appear in his personality to alert the femme otherwise. Slowly drawing her head away from his chest as she sat upright, her sights set upon the flowers at her paws as she gazed warmly at them. Her erliest memories were of these flowers, how they glowed each morning as if to signal her mother's arival from the mysterious pack.

"I am blessed." Bindi admitted softly, a loving smile grazing her maw. "I owe everything to you and your family, and I couldn't ask for anything better."

It was sad that she had never experienced family before last night, a group acting as a single entity to care and love one another was foreign to the sunshine femme. Never has she had such a comforting sleep surrounded by the likes of Dax and his mother, the other pups and Jaxom sleeping at the den enterance. Her nights consisted of curling up against the rock just behind where they sat currently, or when the temperature dropped a search for a burrow to shelter her from the cold. Yet each and every morning when she sun broke, she would be greeted with the loving face of her mother - and that kept her warm each and every night. Her mother had spoken of the pack once, as Bindi knew she was the Alpha. It was a large pack, who seemed to move quite frequently....yet Bindi knew no one in the pack. Repeatedly her mother reminded her she was forbidden to ever go there herself, or to never follow her back. The pup had weakly agreed to the demand, not wanting to break a promise between her and her mother.

Yet that didn't matter now, she knew she would be fine with Dax...just looking at him seemed to replenish her hope that she would see her family again. The thought of him meeting her mom, her siblings and father delighted her to no end....it would be a dream come true. Feeling the warmth of the first sunrays drifting over her face, she giggled and squinted her eyes against the light. "Dax! Its started!"

Slowly lifting her head up to view the radiant colours of the morning light against the sky, the hues of gold, peach, and pink began to stain the whisps of clouds in the horizon. Yet...thats not what had Bindi lose her ability to breathe. Choking for air, her eyes were wide in absolute shock as her whole body began to lightly shake...locked on not the sky she had looked foreward to all morning...but the forest line across from the empty meadow before the two pups.

"M-m.....Mamma....." Once again, the tears began to drift down her maw and cheeks...yet for once; they were of pure joy. "Mama!!!" She yelled out, watching as the large female paused and perked her head up at the yell of her daughter. Slowly, her large plume of a tail began to wag as the Alphaess continued her tired walk towards the pups. She had made it at last.

Temporarily forgetting that Dax was still present, the Pup yipped happily as she stood and tore down the hill as fast as she could, bounding through the chest high grass which covered the meadow. She had waited and waited for so long, and it had finally paid off as she was no reunited with her mother. Unbeknown to the pup as the surge of emotions completely clouded her senses was the ominous shadowed figures lingering in the darkness of the trees, peering behind the sturdy trunks of the trees. Even in this morning light, the evidence of their murderous weapons clearly visible at their sides for those paying attention. Even Akilai with her sharp senses hadn't picked up the lingering stench of twolegged danger, the constant walk of the past two days had taken a dire toll on the Alphaess.

Closing in, Bindi skidded to a hault before her mother and jumped up to lick at her golden maw, the same beautiful hue which covered her whole body as she held some deep golden hue at her paws to resemble the intensity of the rising sun, as well as some white spots on her back which looked like clouds. Akilai lowered her head to nuzzle her daughter lovingly, a warm smile on her maw. "Bindi, I'm so sorry that I did not return...my precious little girl..." Akilai licked the top of her head, looking up at the hill where the small black pup sat. "Who is that, Bindi?" She asked, her tail still swaying even as Bindi excitedly chattered away. "I don't care mama, we're together again! Thats all i've ever wanted! Oh! Thats Dax, he saved me and his family took me in...I cannot wait for you to meet him, he's simply amazing! They all are!"

Turning around and taking a few steps foreward, she bellowed out to Dax happily, beconing him down to meet her mother. "DAX! C'mere! Come meet my Mamma!! She really wants to see you!" She yipped excitedly, yet life suddenly slowed as she turned back to her mother...ears perking as a strange whizzing sound got louder and louder...untill hell broke loose. Just as her mother became fully in her view, in the blink of an eye a strange stick with a pointed rock drove through her mothers back as she screamed out, driving the once proud wolf into the ground as she was now pinned to the very terra which was splattered with her blood...not to mention the same warm liquid splattered and streaked onto the face of her daughter.

"MAMMA!" Bindi cried out in devastation, feeling her heart shatter in her small chest as she lunged the two steps back to her mother's dying side, licking and nuzzling at her pain stricken face. "Mamma no! Hurry..!! We g-gotta go mom, get up! Get up!!!" She screamed, pleaded, anything to get her running away. Staring out into the forest, she could see the shadows begin to assemble and move....they were coming for Akilai. Opening her eyes, Akilai looked to the blood stained face of her last remaining family member, before slowly shifting her head to see the humans draw near. "So this was the plan all along..." She coughed, blood dripping from her jaws as she looked sadly back to her shaking daughter. How cruel fate was, there was so many things she wished to tell Bindi...to explain why her life thus far had been so chatoic...yet that would never get to be heard.

Reaching her paw out, sorrowed tears welled in the Alpha's eyes as she gingerly touched Bindi's cheek. "Bindi...l-listen to me. Leave me...I want you to leave with Dax, never...look back. S-tay away from the pack...you must...." She choked, her breathing restricting quickly each moment. Things were going dark for the Alphaess...yet she was calm about it; she would be free at last - yet it tore her apart to leave her only child like this. "Know...that i'll always love you till the end of time....stay true....to yourself. Bin....di..." Getting out all she could to help her daughter, Akilai drew her last breath and drifted into that eternal slumber; never to see another sunrise again.

"No.....no..." Bindi cried, shaking her head; even at a tender age as this she knew her mother was giving her final goodbye. "Don't say that mamma....it's going to be okay....mamma?" she choked, leanding down and nudging her muzzle with her nose....yet she was limp. Biting her lip, the pup cried out and flopped herself on her mother's head, sobbing into her fur. "I won't leave you mamma! I won't! I wont let them get you...."

Faile shook her head and got to her feet, pushing past Jaxom gently as she, too, picked up the scent. "No...I'll find them. I want to meet her, you know." Tail wagging slightly, she laid a light kiss upon Jaxom's maw before following the scent at a trot.

The trail went farther than she thought it would...or should...past the edge of the packlands. As she saw a small hill, she caught sight of her son, an unfamilar golden colored pup...and a sight she'd hoped never to see again. Her ears flattened, hackles raised, and tail went straight out, and she tore towards the two pups at breakneck speed.

"RUN!" the jet she-wolf shrieked, nearly running the pups over in her haste to reach them. She nipped roughly at them, nearly biting them in her terror, her haste to get them away from death. "Run home, run home NOW!" Her jade eyes were crazed with fear, and made her look a fearsome sight to the twoleggers coming for the dead wolf's corpse.

His brows furrowed with concern but a deep, soothing rumble sounded from his chest as Faile planted a light, tender kiss upon his maw. "Alright, dearheart, but if there's any trouble- anything that happens, howl and I'll come as fast as my paws can take me."

Watching as his jet black mate set off to find the two pups, Jaxom smiled warmly but his heart seemed to ache. He didn't mean to lose track of them and he certainl didn't want to put hassle upon his mate.

But, for now, all he could do was reside with the rest of the pups and wait.

Dax couldn't help but give a sheepish grin as his tail thumped somberly behind him. "No...you don't owe us anything," he replied, quietly as his tormented soul and inner demons seemed to howl, wailing and scratching at the surface within, "dad's keen on helpin' others and so is mom. It's just how they live."

Selfless.

Compassionate.

Dedicated.

Jaxom and Faile were two individuals and a couple who would sacrifice their own blessings and riches for the sake of another; to help another wolf get back on their feet and nourish them until their strength returned and their spirits were rejuvinated. It wasn't a duty- it was a desire and a compelling need that drove the two to go out of their way and help brighten the lives of others. The tawny and carrot colred beta was chivalrous, kind and calm while the jet black wolfess was compassionate, affectionate and gentle. They respected the lives of others- they respected the individual.

With the rising of the sun dawning with brilliant arrays of colors and hues, Dax peered upwars as the small pup directed him. The cirrus clouds about seemed to create a magnificent canvas of beautiful colors that draped across the sky. Glancing aside towards the blonde female, the small black and white swirled pup knitted his brows in confusion.

"Bindi?"

It all seemed to happen so fast; first he was looking upon the small female pup as within a blink of an eye she had ran down the hill and barreled before the forepaws of a female wolfess. Padding several steps forward, the ears of the small pup fell against his head. "Mamma?" He whispered to himself, a small frown upon his maw as he turned away from the two. "I guess she won't be stayin' with us anymore," he spoke, hushed and saddened.

His small ears perked forwars as Bindi called to him, so cheery and estatic. But he couldn't bring himself to face her, no- there was something that simply told him to stay put and let the two reunite. To disturb such a moment wouldn't feel right and it certainly would make him feel awkward. But, slowly, he trailed down towards them.

Little did he know that hell was about to break loose and make death's foul, bitter taste surface within the maw of the young female.

His fur practically stood on end as his senses were keen, alert and aware of something- danger lurking about. Such fears were suddenly manifested when the strange, sharp sticks lodged temselves within the back of the wolfess, spattering blood and pinning the female in a helpless and defenseless position. There was only one creature sinister and devilish enough to have created such a weapon- humans.

Watching the horrific and tragic scene set before him, Dax frantically leap onto his feet and stumbled down the hill. "BINDI!" He yelped, rushing towars her side and nipping at her ruff. "We gotta go! We can't stay here or those humans are gonna get us!" As his attempt was futile and the small female snuggled her body upon her mothers head, Dax whined softly and growled.

"Bindi we gotta go!"

Pleading with urgency, he nipped at her tail, tugging at her as his icy, blue orbs glanced back to where the shasows began to draw nearer. Not letting go and tugging harder, Dax wasn't going to give up too soon until a familiar voice cried out to them.

"Mom!" He yelped, muffled by the pups tail between his jaws.

As Faile dashed towards them with much haste, Dax wrinkled his maw and released his grip as his mothers n** was rough but urging him to flee from the place where the humans were starting to gather to collect their prize. Running towards his mothers forepaws and brushing against her, Dax looked up to her with eyes that were uncertain, fearing and pleading that he wouldn't loose his mother as well.

"We gotta go! We can't let 'em find the den mom!" Folding his ears against his skull, Dax nodded his head and ran back towards Bindi and nipped at her once again.

"Come on Bindi! I'm not gonna lose you either!"

"Mother...Mother..." Bindi breathed, casting a insignificant glance to Dax as he urgently began speaking that they must depart. Growling lightly, she refused to budge from her spot, shifting her orbs to glare through her tears at the bipedals. They were not doing to get her mother, Bindi would rather die than to leave her again....no, they would be apart no longer. With that thought drifting through her mind, she nuzzled her face into her mother's neck, smudging the blood against her face without noticing.

However, her mental planning wasn't going to coincide with Dax.

As the pup began to n** and tugging painfully at her tail, she growled angrily which was most unbefitting for the usual cheery pup. "Dax, Let go!!" She hissed out, trying to tup her tail back to no avail...he was much too strong as it was evident by how her body slid slowly off her mother's neck. "DAX!" She barked, lashing out and snapping at his neck roughly before letting go as he backed off and turned to where a horrified shreik emitted from. Widening her eyes as Faile, Dax's mother whom she saw sleeping back in the cave approached...Bindi wasn't prepared for when she was nipped roughly in another means of a signal to flee; and quickly.

Snarling angrily at these two as they tried to take her away from her mother's corpse, Bindi momentarily lost her moral sense of judgement...only later would she realize the risk they put themselves in for her safety. However, at the time, she gave a snap towards Faile and licked at Akilai's muzzle longingly. "NO!" she screamed herself, jumping on her mother's back as she tried to remove the spear...anything to get her away off the ground; away from the humans. "C'me ohn!" She growled, pulling as hard as her petite body could yet it was no use; the spear was lodged into the earth too snugly under the corpse.

"This can't b-be happening..."

Bindi nearly sobbed out, stepping back as she surveyed the scene before her as the shadows began to grab for more spears. Although their target had been Bindi's mother, if they lingered around why waste the opportunity? What would Jaxom think of her if she allowed Faile and Dax to get killed on her account...why wouldn't they just leave her here!!

Jumping as she was nipped again by Dax, she turned her glare on the other pup...before it saddened immensely at the sight of he and his own mother. As he spoke...that ache in her heart resurfaced as realization hit that he didn't wish to lose her like she didn't want to lose her mother. Yet there was nothing any of them could do for the corpse now...yet he could still have her. Biting her lip as the tears began to fall like rain, she knew what she had to do.

Quickly turning to her mother as her warm words rang in her mind, Bindi nuzzled her face against her mothers one last time, licking her cheek and nose before sobbing out. "Mama, I'm sorry, I'm so...so...sorry!" She cied out, before casting one very quick glance to Dax before sprinting off as fast as her little paws could carry her back to the hill....back to the den.

She had abandoned her mother.

The free falling stream of tears and choked breaths refused to stop, and Bindi refused to look back.

What had she done...?

"Dax, get yourself and Bindi back to the den!" Faile clipped out roughly, before whirling on her hind legs and darting in the direction of the humans. Her embedded memories, ingrained terror, would not allow her to come too near, but she could distract them with flashing teeth, darting into the woods beyond them.

Her ears flattened to her head as she ran, giving the pursuing humans a merry chase. She wanted to call Jaxom, but she couldn't...couldn't risk losing her mate if he charged unawares into the pack of humans, couldn't risk giving away her own location once she lost them.

She only stopped when she could no longer detect pursuit, sides heaving. Stepping lightly and taking care to leave few tracks, she silently ghosted across the miles back to the den, slumping into it with sweat-matted coat.

Hackles seemed to rise deep from the chest and throat of the black and white swirled pups as his eyes narrowed, upon the Blonde pup and his body began rigid and tense. "Dont bite me again," he growled, keeping his jaws locked and restraint while the inner demons were unceasingly clawing and scratching to be unleashed; to bring about chaos and even greater suffering to the small pup but something created a resistance- something kept his jaws from trying to find themselves wrapped upon her body.

Whatever was keeping him from lunging at her and from helping her find her place in line once again, the black and white swirled pup's mind seemed to temporarily cause his anger to kindle and thoughts to provoke his emotions but they couldn't break him into falling deeper into the darkness.

Isn't it obvious? Even a 'friend' will turn their back on you, snap their jaws around your neck and seek to drive a knife further into such a broken soul- such a broken wolf into oblivion. Bindi doesn't care- she mourns for the dead but if only she knew that such death and fate was inevitable; it always is, even for you Dax. And no wolf can ever grow to love a shattered soul- there is no such thing as love for those who are split.

His fur bristled, standing on edge upon his back as the small pup clenched his jaws and shook his head. "It's not like that. She's just upset 'cause she lost her mom," he argued, tears welting up wihtin his eyes as he tried to fight alongisde the light. "Fate can be altered."

You are so nieve, child. You have no idea of what fate holds for you. And it is something that is pre-destined and it never will change. You are born to kill, born to wroth all terror and to instill fear within the heart of wolves just as Damu was born to do but he never could live up to his destiny.

"Then I'll change it."

You can't run away from what you will become, Dax.

Shaking his head as the chilling voice echoed within his mind, Dax flicked his ears and regained his conciousness to the world around him. His icy, blue orbs darted towards his mother as a soft whine drew from his muzzle.

There wasn't time to question anything.

Glancing over as Bindi darted back towards the den, Dax nodded and ran back towards her paws and brushed against her. Staing up into her eyes with a silent plead and a yearning with hope for her not to be taken by the hunters, the black and white pup wasted no time and suddenly leapt into powerful, small lunges away from the corpse and from the humans.

His chest heaved in and out, great breaths drawing from them as he continued running as fast as his paws could take him. Small paws swept wildly upon the ground as he scampered within the shadows, weaving in and out of trees and keeping himself hidden.

Several lengths away from home, Dax pressed onwards and only hoped that the rest of his family and his mom were okay.
