It was a bright morning, truly gorgeous. However, on this day a dark lioness slunk across the savannah on a mission. She was headed for a nearby stream; it was a relatively deep stream. She waded into it wearing a blank expression, one thought on her mind- training. She was going to be a captain in a pride, and she feared that her recent dealings may have weakened her. She lifted a giant paw and slashed deep into the water, muscles rippling. It felt good to use those muscles again. She smirked wryly, knowing that she was unnaturally strong for a mistweaver.

His own dark pelt moved rather differently that Sukari's did, his strange two step movements making him seem almost like he wasdancing through the savannah instead of stalking or walking as a normal cheetah would. He had silently watched Sukari go, remaining sleepful until he desided to get up and go and see wheer she had gone to. Spotting the lake, and ultimately the trees that lived near the waters edge, he bolted and made himself comfortable on a thick branch to watch his lady love, though he couldn't help but contemplate what she was up to.
Tilting that dark head, his ice green eyes filled with endless curiosity he watched her as she took deadly strikes at the waters surface. A low chuckle escaped him as he watched her. "I'm sure the water appreciates you beating thwe snot out of it." He beams then, his long tail swaying below the silver marked branches of the acacea tree.

Sukari jumped at her mate's voice, not having expected him to follow her. She looked on the banks to find nobody, but then remembered that her mate adored the trees. Silly me, she thought, turning her attention upward to the tree. Sure enough, her mate was lounging up there, looking ever so comfortable.
"I'm sure it does too," She responded with a smile at her mate. She was surprised how much closer she grew to him every day, but she rather liked it. It was a break from her usual angry self; or as she had decided, her masked self.

Jani grinned broadly when she spoke, watching the twinkling waters. Even the water heer was unlike what he was used to, muddy brown instead of crystal clear. So many things out here were forcing him to change his life, his thought patterns. Everything really. It didn't really matter, in the long and short of it, he had happily walked away from the jungle for Sukari.
Swaying his long, deep green tail his icey eyes watched her ever so silently before he cleared his throat. "You look wonderful." He tried to remember if he'd ever given her a compliment before, he couldn't honestly remember. The days seemed to blur together as long as he was with her. It was a good blur, but none the less a blur. Dropping from the tree branch with a silent thud he tap danced his way in to the water until his shoulder met hers.
He liked the water the deep green male, though it was definately far more interesting with Sukari in them. With a cheeky grin on his maw he licked her cheek. They had become so close in the time they had travelled together. He knew without saying it that they were mates, and that undoubtedly, it would always be that way, but something tingled down the line of his spine now. A question slipping through his mind. "Do you wish for children Sukari?" Why he asked the question when he was belly deep in murky water was unsure, but the question was there and it had to be answered, of course, it didn't even occur to him to question if they could infact have children, it was simply, there and had to be asked.Tilting his head curiously, he awaited that fated answer.

Jani was the only one Sukari would ever allow to interupt her training, and gladly took a break for him. She snuggled against him when he approached her happily. There was no doubt in her mind either, they would be together until the end of their days. Sukari would have it no other way- Jani was the only creature on the whole earth who could dissolve her usually angry outside.
She was a bit shocked, however, at the suddenness of his question. "I haven't thought about it," she said truthfully, pondering the answer. "I certainly want to have them sometime, but...." She looked into his face. "I suppose the answer is yes," She said. She knew absolutely nothing about parenting, as she had raised herself alone in the savannah. When she looked at Jani, though, she knew the answer to his question was yes. She returned his lick and sat down in the murky waters, putting her head under his. "I only pray that I'd be a better mother than mine was," she said quietly, making a silent vow to herself not to mess her cubs up. She realized the gravity of her response.

Jani rolled his shoulders as she answred his question tangling his neck around her shoulders, he gave a low, rough purr. "you'll make a good mother." he was more worried that he wouldn't make a good father. His deepest fear that he would try and drag his cubs up as he had been dragged. His mother he knew was not acctually cruel to him, she made sure he didn't die, but there were things that he had had to do to survive, she had been very tough with him, though he knew full well he would hhave been dead long ago if it wasn't for the leopardess whom had raised him in the jungle.
"I..Don't know how to, deal.." he trailed off, that wasn't the word he was looking for. "I don't know how to raise children." He looked at her sheepishly. "My 'mother' braught me up roughly, she made sure I could survive in the trees when cheetahs..well, they arn't really supposed to live in branches." He cleared his throat once again bowing his head, he was starting to regret asking this question. "I'll try, I'll try though for you." He looked at her almost shyly then, it was as if this conversation was sparking soemthign in him, telling him maybe this conversation was leaving his lips for a reason. He wrapped his neck around hers once again kissing her opposite cheek with his tongue. "For you."

They were a pair of fairly clueless parents. Neither really had been raised extremely well... Somehow, somewhere deep in Sukari's heart, She knew everything would turn out ok. She had a feeling that when the cubs came around, instinct would kick in and she'd know how to parent them. She closed her eyes and snuggled with him in those murky waters, knowing that her cubs would be better raised than she. They wouldn't hate their mother to the point of wanting to kill her like Sukari had. Her anger rose at thoughts of her mother, but then dissipated into something odd... something she hadn't done since she was a cub. She cried, making her snuggle into Jani more than she had been before. I will be a better mom, she promised herself, and her future cubs.

Jani had never seen Sukari upset, angry, strong, feared, loving, but always dominant, never upset. He nuzzled ehr cheeks pushing away her tears with his nose. "Please, don't cry" he whispers, his voice such a low murr, a voice clearly reserved fro her. A voice which was far from his usual cocky, though loving tones he used for the chocolate brown femme. "While you're being a general I will make sure our cubs are looked after." He smiles, almost serenely then, hoping those were the words she wanted to hear. Any cubs they had he knew they would have to care for together, but she, well seh was to be a powerful general, he would have support her and their cubs. he would learn to be a parent and raise their cubs to survive as his mother had with him. He just had to be a little more careful, considerate than she was.
"I'm sure together we will make one half decent parent." He chuckled playfully crooming her face in a loving, sweet manner.

Sukari chuckled in between sobs at his joke, then got back to her thoughts. "It's not that you'd make a bad dad... You'll be a wonderful father," she said shakily, trying to pull herself back together. She wondered how much her next statement would shake him. "It's me. I wanted my mother to die, she did such a horrible job at parenting. She left us to die!" she said, remembering her brother's and sister's faces. "I ran, I left her and raised myself in the savannah, alone," she said. Jani hadn't heard the whole story yet, and now was as good of time as ever. "I wanted to kill her. Kill her for ruining our lives, but she died of natural causes before I could get there. I don't know what happened to my siblings... But..." a horrified look crossed her face, but she hung her head so low that Jani wouldn't see it, "I wanted to kill her. Even that thought..." she shuddered. "I just don't want to ruin anyone's life that badly. Now I just wish I could go back to her and apologize for my intentions," she said, turning her eyes to him, waiting for how he would respond. She hadn't ever felt this way about her past either. Such strange things happened around him. Strange, but good.

He let a slow smile creep o to his maw, a comforting smile his nose never leaving her cheek. "I don't even know whom my real mother was, or where she went Sukari, I was raised by a leopard, but I'm clearly a cheetah." He chuckled. "These things, they shape our pasts and give us the lives we lead now." He nudged her chin upwards with his nose. "If you were not who you are, we may never have met." He whispers giving a slow, affirmative nod as he cleaned the tears from her face. "She knows Sukari, she knows you are sorry and you know that too." it was a strange thing to say as he did not entirely beeive in an after life, but he supposed mothers knew what their cubs felt and thought really. The leopardess that had raised him always knew what he was thinking strangely. "Your cubs will never hate you, thats all that matters." His deep, rolling puurr rolled through the air then, the thoughts of cubs sending strange, tingly feelings down his spine and legs. She was clearly the reason his mind was upon children, though why it had happened at this time, he was unsure, she simply made him feel very, strange indeed, what had happened that made him feel this way? He didn't know, but he wasn't complaining, a euphoric sence ogf happiness was nothing to complain about.

She pulled herself together, allowing the last tear roll down her cheek. She nodded, for fear that a verbal response would cause her to cry again. He could always cheer her up. She snuggled against him, burying her face into his fur as much as she could, taking in his pleasant smell. "I love you, Jani," she said quietly, wishing never to be apart from he who knew so much about her.

Smiling roguishly he nuzzled her ears gently, he suddenly felt very large and in charge, he had never felt that before around Sukari, he wasn't sure if he liked it or not, but he was glad, that for her, he could be strong and careing, something he really wasn't used to doing. "I love you to, you know I always will" He licked one of ehr ears then "Come, lets get out of this water before our paws shrink hmm?" he chuckled gently nudging her shoulder. This breif moment of dominance made him realise that she was a female, she needed him and occassionally, he would have to be the strong one, this was one of those times, he could help her, protect her instead of being the protected one. He liked this feeling, though he knew it couldn't last, he liked it and for now, it made him feel strong, it made him love her more, he wanted to keep her forever, to hold this large, strong lioness in his claws, forever his. It would not last, and he really didn't mind, he liked being a kept male really, but for now, he was in charge and he would take care of her until she felt herself once again, his strong, beautiful, powerful mate.

Sukari smiled and followed him, laughing at his comment. Her voice was still shaky, but much stronger than it used to be. She walked with him at his shoulder. What he didn't know was that if a short while ago he refused to leave the jungle, Sukari would have stayed with him. Submission was an odd feeling. Comforting, but... unpowerful. Half of her enjoyed it, the other half did not. It, like most, left her with an odd feeling. She dashed ahead of him quickly, tapping his nose with her tail tip, then rolled over playfully. Another odd behavior for her, but she didn't care. Nobody else was around to see this out-of-character behavior, so she decided to enjoy it.

Jani beamed when she flicked his nose with ehr tail, those icey green eyes sparkling. Not really being of a dominant nature, the deep green cheetah was enjoying thsi moment of leadership, of posessing his lady love instead of being the one being owned. A gentle, though rough laugh escaped him as he pounce hopped towards her, his dark legs soaking, his fur spreying tiny dropletts of water all about him as he pounced upon the large female, wrapping his fore legs around ehr shoulders and nuzzling her face affectionately. "You're so beautiful to me" He puurrs nudging and licking at her face and ears. He was to say the least enthralled by the lionesses sweet and odd nature, he loved that she could roll over for him, instead of acting defencive as she usually, did, strong and powerful as she always was. For this, breifest of times, she was simply his, his sweet, beautiful Sukari, gentlest of creatures, the love of his life.

And for the first time, Sukari enjoyed being the submissive one. She enjoyed not having the pressures of leading the race, or having to be strong. Was this how every other creature felt all the time? No wonder there were few as strong as she. However, she couldn't be like this all the time- it would make the times like this less special. She praised the gods silently that they had led her to Jani. The world was working for once in perfect harmony, there was no conflict in the world. "I love you Jani," she said softly, putting a paw around the back of his head to pull it to her own and lick his face. She was at peace, all because of him.
