Just wanted to introduce my babies. I have four dogs currently. Whisper is a terrier or schnauzer mix, though I tend to think she's a schnoodle. She's about 13 years old and still going strong, though she can't jump as well as she used to. She has trouble getting up on the loveseat these days, poor baby. Gypsy is a spaniel mix of some type but she may have cowdog as well, since she's a beautiful blue merle. She is also 13 years old. I got her to be a companion to Whisper. She had a really rough start. When I got her from the pound, she weighed 7 lbs. full grown. She is now a nice hefty 20 lbs. I've had both of them since 94 and I know in a few years I'm going to have to face losing them. Calypso is a red doxie mix. She's around 7 years old. Crockett is a black and tan doxie mix, around 5 years old.

Thank you. Sadly, in the last week Gypsy has developed a back problem. I'm keeping an eye on her and giving her a baby aspirin every day, which seems to be keeping the pain under control, but if things worsen I may be faced with a hard decision.

Ahh, I'm sorry. Have you talked to the vet about it and is there anything else besides the aspirin that they think might help? You sound like you care about her and her health though, so I'm sure she is receiving good care.

Yep, I did and it wasn't as bad as I thought. She has arthritis in her shoulder (not her back) and I have her on better medicine now. She's doing much better, which is a relief. It was killing me inside when she went into screaming fits just by stepping wrong.
