Warm! Finally it was starting to get warmer outside. The warmth of the sun beating down on her coat was so much different now... And there were green things that she'd never seen before. Green stuff popping up everywhere.
Her father had told her that this was a part of something called 'spring' and her mother had confirmed that. It was spring and she was getting taller... And faster. She could race alongside her brothers and, sometimes, if she was lucky, she could beat them. She'd gotten lucky once or twice lately. It was good to have her father's luck.
It was with that luck that she ran now, racing out onto the plains with tail streaming behind her. She was, for the moment, free. No one was holding her back and no one was keeping an eye on her. She was as far away from her brothers, mother and father as she could be, kicking up clouds of dirt and clumps of grass behind her. "Yee haaw!"

He was enjoying a nice snack after a nice bath. The sun was shinning and the grass was coming back and everything was perfect. Or at least as perfect as it could get for the moment. Maybe if he had someone to talk to, or someone to 'play' with it would be better, but that was just icing on the cake.
Spring also meant that there'd be a better chance for him to meet others of the lady like persuasion and maybe get a herd started of his own. He'd show his father then. He'd make sure that he had a wonderfully large herd that was better than his fathers and then the old coot wouldn't be able to say anything about him ever again.

In all of her bucking, jumping, racing and hopping she found herself pausing as she spotted a figure in the distance. Her backside gave a little wriggle behind her as her eyes narrowed, trying to figure out if the colors that almost seemed to blend in belonged to her brother. No... There was no blue and definately no traces of flame. Not Sedi. Good. But... Who was it?
She moved slowly, waiting for the form to come into focus before she picked up her pace. It was someone she knew! "NUKA!"

He had been about to close his teeth on a rather nice looking yellow flower when he heard his name. His name in a rather high pitched voice that he had trouble placing until he looked up.
It was that foal the one that belonged to Remy. What was she doing out here again? Hadn't that stallion told his daughter not to wander around alone where she could get eaten by any number of things?
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the little warrioress again. Skipping out on your family more huh?"

"Ah'm not all that little anymore, Nuka." She snorted softly as she pranced a slow circle around him before coming to a halt before him. "Ah'm gettin' bigger. Momma says so. She says that soon enough Ah'll be jus' as big as she is." Her tail flickered behind her as she grinned, tossing her head back. "An'... Ah didn't skip out on my family. Ah just went for a run an' my brother can't keep up. He's slow."

He eyed her for a moment. The foal was a little bigger than she had been the last time they'd spoken. "Well it might be longer before you're her size than you think but you're getting there."
So she had skipped out on her family. He doubted that any son of that other stallion would be slow. "Sure you didn't just loose him on purpose so you could go sneaking off?"

"Not much longer. Da says Ah'm growin' like a weed." She smiled brightly, tilting her head high so she could pretend she was closer in height to the stallion who stood before her. "'Course, he said that 'bout Sedi an' Beau too..." Her nose scrunched slightly, giving her a comical look.
That look was quickly replaced by a soft, sneaky little smile that had to have come from her father. "Ah wouldn't loose Sedi on purpose. Da'd be mad if Ah did. Ah outran 'im fair an' square." She paused for a moment, looking back towards the forest. "He'll catch up... Eventually."

"Should be nice to your brothers. They're the ones who are going to be there to protect you later." He laughed slightly. His brothers had always picked on him but that was because he was better looking than they were.
"Growing like a week doesn't mean you're going to get that big that fast. I've seen some pretty slow growing weeds." He shouldn't pick on the little girl like that but it was fun. She made the cutest faces when she was ticked off.
"Stupid ... sistah.... get back'ere!!" He huffed as he darted from under the trees. She'd gone running off in the other direction than they'd started going and he'd lost her. She was still smaller than him and Beau so she could get though the trees faster and she knew it.

"Ah'm as nice ta them as they are ta me." She snorted, stomping at the ground in front of her with her single fiery hoof. "Ah don't need protected an' if Ah did... Da would protect me. Ah don't need brothers to." Besides, her brothers weren't really much bigger than she was. How would they protect her from something bit and scary?
"Ah'm not a slow weed. Ah'm not a weed at all. Ah'm jus' growin' like one, silly." Yup. Nuka was just like ever other boy 'cept for her Da. Silly.
She paused, ears swiveling towards the sound of her brother's voice. She groaned, making a face like none that Nuka had seen before. It was the face that, if she were older, it might make a stallion quiver if he were the source of it... But at this age? It would just make an older Soquili laugh. "See... Ah told ya he'd catch up..." She snorted.

"If you were growing like a weed then you'd be a lot stringier." He winked at her. "I'd say you're growing like a little girl. Weed's aren't as nice looking either." She wasn't as out there as some of the mare's he'd seen around this place. He still couldn't figure out what they would want with colors that would make them stick out like targets.
When her face scrunched he did laugh. "Seem's he's faster than you thought huh?"
He noticed the big stallion that was with his sister almost imedietly. That wasn't their Da and that meant that she shouldn't be talking to him. "Hey! .. Ya better get away from ma sistah!" He darted over and stood beside his sibling despite the look on her face.

She was torn for a moment between beaming at Nuka's compliment and acting like the child that she was by just kicking at Sedi. Ooooh. She wanted to kick him hard. But if she kicked him then she wouldn't be a lady and Momma'd yell at her just like she had the last time she'd kicked her brothers.
"You leave Nuka alone, Sedi! Ah mean it! Ah can talk ta whoever Ah want to!" She huffed, tilting her head high as she stomped at the ground. "You're jus' jealous 'cause Ah have a friend an' you don't."

"Ah've got friends!" That wasn't exactally true but that didn't matter at the moment. "Yer not supposta be out without me'an' ... or Beau." He huffed at her and stuck up his neck. "An not talkin ta strangah's."
"I'm not strange. I'm Nuka." He laughed at the male foal who was the girls brother. "And she's met me before so she's not talking to strangers."

"Momma don't count!" She huffed right back at him, brow furrowing into a scowl. "Ah can go where ever Ah want to. You're jus' mad 'cause Ah can run faster... An' 'cause Ah've got a friend." She snorted as she took a step closer to Nuka. "Nuka's not a stranger. Ah've talked ta him twice now."

He doubted that Remy would like his little girl being 'friends' with him but at least it was one more way to piss off the stallion. "See kiddo. She knows me so there's no worry"
"Mamma do too count!" He huffed at his sister and stamped one foot against the dirt. "Ya don run fastah. I'm faster than Dah!" She she wasn't nearly that fast so he had to be faster. "Ah just not stupid'nough ta run through tha woods. And ya get away fron my sistah! Yer just tryin ta get'er in trouble"

"You're tha one tryin' ta get me in trouble, Sedi. Ah ain't doin' nothin' wrong and Ah ain't stupid!" She stomped right back. Oh, yes, when she was older she would definately be a mare that no one would want to argue with... At least, that seemed to be the direction she was going in. Along with that freedom of spirit and strong will she also had a fiery temper that matched the gleam in her eyes.
"You're jus' mad 'cause Ah made a friend who's bigger an' stronger an' smarter an' faster than you." She huffed, tilting her head higher than she had the last time. He could take that!
