MapleStory is a free, 2D, side-scrolling Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game developed by the Korean company Wizet. Several versions of the game are available for specific countries or regions, and each is published by various companies such as Wizet and Nexon. Although playing the game is free, many player appearances and gameplay enhancements can be purchased from the "Cash Shop" using real money. MapleStory has a combined total of over 50 million players in all of its versions. MapleStory Global, for players mainly outside of East Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe, has over one million players.
In the game, players defend the "Maple World" from monsters and develop their character's skills and abilities, as in typical role-playing games. Players can interact with others in many ways, such as through chatting, trading, and playing minigames. Groups of players can band together in parties to hunt monsters and share the rewards. "Yes, I beat the final boss! No, wait, I didn't. There's more. I'll just go spend the next few weeks to level, then get that one. Then the next. Then the next..."

Edmond Dantes Maple story really isn't that good though. It may be to you, but its unique and its free (excluding cash shop). We all have our own preferences. I like the fact that its a 2d platformer AND a mmorpg. :3 Then again, with the excessive ammount of hackers and such, it is meh. But I still like it and so do many others.

Most people refer to Maple Story as a Nogada game - you basically stand there and whack away. There aren't any advanced techinques or whatnot, due to it being a 2-Dimensional thing.
To this day, I don't know how my sister bore with the game long enough to become 60+, or how she still manages to play it. Ugh.
