Cramps are common during periods.
You should not be rubbing Vicks Vapor Rub on your stomach to relieve cramps. Vicks Vapor Rub is for unclogging your nose when you have a cold. You could try Midol or look into getting the birth control pill.
Whenever you use medicine, you have to read the label and use it for what it is supposed to be used for. Even over the counter medications can be dangerous if you do not follow the directions.

xXxSuicidalxRomancexXx Ah, brith control pills??. Should I start using that? ;O! or do I have too? Im sceard to use that crap. x_x Of course you don't have to. Many girls choose to go on birth control pills to shorten their period and reduce their cramps, but it is by no means a requirement. Birth control pills do have side effects, so they aren't for everyone. That would just be one option that you could discuss with your doctor if your cramps get bad enough.

I have really bad cramps too. I take Aleve, curl up with a heating pad whenever I can, and when a heating pad is out of the question, I use those ThermaCare heat thingies made for menstrual cramp relief. I mean, my cramps are still painful in the first couple days of my period, but these things at least provide some relief.

I'd also recommend talking to your gyn about options and coping techniques.

I would say stay doped up on pain relevers and when yoyu first start having your period... its irregular and you can bleed alot one time and the next time a little.. and you might not have it for a few months.... I'm on BC... It makes me have it on the same day each month every 4 weeks on sunday.. and for only 3 to 4 days and only one heavy day...

For me, I took baths and showers. Heat tends to relieve cramps so a heating pad or something else will work wonderfully.
Just don't fall asleep with it on or have it on too high. 15-20 minutes for one sitting is about right on medium or so.
Be sure to always read the directions, though.

PetalsOfPoison I get REALLY bad cramps during my period. I using a heating pad. Try buying a heating pad. That helps with relieving cramps. You can also make one. Get an old sock/towel/pillowcase or some fabric in pretty colours and fill it with long grain rice and some herbs if you want a nice scent. Sew it closed and microwave for 2 - 2 1/2 minutes and enjoy. It's reusable, works great and is cheaper than buying them from a store or those creepy mall vendors at Xmas.

Yes, the side effects are scary. However, they are also very, very rare.
