It can be really painful and inconvenient, or it can be not so bad. I had mine taken out on a Friday, and on Monday I auditioned for a play. I got understudy to the lead role, which isn't so bad, considering I went to a school renowned throughout the state for its theater department. So, you CAN recover pretty quickly, after the first day or two.
