((The title's temporary until I find a better one, I swear. XD; ))

Though the colder months presented trouble for the pair, it only took Dante a short time to get Lanis ready to go that morning. The young Mishap had to wear twice as many clothes as was necessary for a normal baby in order to feel comfortable. She relaxed in the stroller as her guardian pushed her along. The area was still very cold, even though spring was coming fast. Dante had always enjoyed the colder weather, while she was apparently opposed by the young child she was wheeling around. As the girl aged, they'd have to find an easier way to move during the winter. The last thing Dante wanted was to have to keep the child inside for months at a time -especially since it was like taking care of three at the same time.

It seemed to be a long walk to the place they were going. Possibly because the older of the two females was slightly anxious. At any time, the one she was pushing could decide that she was no longer comfortable and begin to cry. Surprisingly, the entire way to the park, nothing happened. Nothing really out of the ordinary, anyway. Lanis clung tightly to her bear, making sure that it was in one of its daily deathgrips. It kept her relaxed, oddly enough.

Ghost walked slowly along the sidewalk, her foot wrapings dimming the sound of her footsteps. The crisp air felt nice against her skin, after being shut away inside for the worst of winter. Being a hermit was lonely enough without having to stay indoors.

I wonder if I'll find anyone to talk to, she thought absently. I don't think I've used my voice for anything but incantaions so far this year.

She took a deep breath, glancing at her surroundings. An odd sent drifted toward her. It was a little familiar, but, at the same time, unplaceable.

Reptile... I haven't wiffed that in a while. Quite a long time, come to think of it.

She stopped and turned toward the park.

Right after they had entered the park, the pair was immediatly stopped. Lanis decided at that moment that she no longer liked the comfort of the stroller. Although the movement occupied her for a large period of time, it couldn't and didn't last forever. Maybe it was because Cedric and Adrian had grasped the teddy bear even tighter. Thankfully, it was not actually alive. Had it been, there was only a slim chance that it would have survived this far. Dante went to the front of the baby's transportation and leaned in her direction. "We're going to stop here, then. At least until you can control yourself." She was lucky, as a bench was just a few feet away. With Lanis's arms distracted by the bear, Dante was able to pick up the Mishap and carry her to the bench.

Ghost cocked her head at the smell. It was reptile all right- and it was magic. She tried not to be too hopeful, but the comforting image of lethery wings and ivory talons kept invading her mind. It was hard to keep in mind that she was human, and the need to feel the bubbling heat of fire in her stomache was almost unbearable. She let out a large breath, but all that came out was mist. Pathetic. She shook her head and rid the thoughts.

Still, what was that smell coming from? It was sweet and new. Ghost gazed around the park, but saw nothing interesting. Just a young woman with a baby.

A green baby.

Shocked, Ghost did a double take. Humans were certainly not supposed to be that color! She raised an eyebrow, then crossed the park, unable to contain her curiosity.

Lanis partially released the bear from her grip as she calmed down. Still, she kept the toy close to her so that no one would take it from her. She'd claimed it as her own, and because it was difficult to get anything from her safely, Dante had yet to try to take it away. A yawn escaped her, though it didn't make it far through the scarf she was wearing. Even though she was almost completely warm, the cold still managed to penetrate and reach her. She took full advantage of being held, and rested in Dante's arms as the woman sat down. The guardian, on the other hand, curiously looked in the direction of the one other person she could see. Of course, a green baby with snakes for arms was not normal, but most of Lanis was covered, other than certain areas that she needed to breathe.

Ghost saw the human look at her, and she hesitated. Was this a little too weird to start a conversation with a stranger over?

Nah.

Acting nonchalant, she continued over and sat down on the bench, looking away at first, adjusting the straps on her snowbording gloves and making sure her bandages were still tight, and not slipping off like they tended to do in warmer atmospheres. She looked over at the two, and nodded politely.

"How are you?" Her voice cracked a little from the weather, but she cleared her throat.

Dante kept herself relaxed. It wasn't as though anything was going to happen because someone walked up to her. Paranoia wasn't normally something that afflicted her, and she made sure that it wouldn't start doing so at that moment. It took her a moment to realize that the person had come to the bench and was now speaking. And again, it took another few seconds before she reacted. Maybe it was the cold weather slowing her down, or maybe just the stress of looking after a child. Either way, she finally replied with a polite nod. "Fine, how about you?" She smiled as best she could. Out of the corner of her eye, the guardian kept an eye on Lanis, who had once again found a comfortable position to rest in while snuggling her bear.

Ghost grinned a bit at the reply, her joy in simply communicating comming across in a slight twinkling in her eyes, wet against the chilly breeze that was floating across the park. She pulled her wrappings tighter.

"Oh, fine enough. I find the weather to be a comforting change of pace."

As she spoke, her eyes followed the path of the woman's and looked at the bundle of winter clothes that was the green kid. Her curiosity bubbled up and she added, "Is the child standing up to it alright?"

Dante rubbed a stray tear from her eye -the product of the short-lived breeze. What was it about the winter that gave her such an odd feeling? She'd never be able to figure it out, she decided. Nor would she try to. Such questions weren't important. What eas important was the girl in her lap, resting. Dante adjusted the baby's scarf to a warmer position. "There." She whispered in a caring tone. Turning up to Ghost, she spoke in a different tone than before. "Hmm. I don't specifically hate this weather, though it does cause me some trouble." She blinked, as if for a moment confused by the other's question. After thinging about it, the point finally reached her. "She's fine. But she isn't ready to withstand this weather without a great amount of protection."

Ghost smiled softly at the woman's mannerism toward the baby. It was pleasent to be next to, almost like it was actually directed at Ghost herself, even though she knew that wasn't the case.

"Of course," she replied simply.

Might as well get to the point.

"I can't help but notice the rather asthetically pleasing color of your child. Is she always like this?" Ghost finally brought herself to ask, taking a guess on the gender and hoping she didn't sound nosey.

Dante cradled Lanis softly as the baby rested in her arms. For some reason, though she wasn't Lanis's real mother, the protective feelings still made her feel as though she was. The woman was relieved that Ghost had made her point quickly, without avoiding the subject. "She is, actually. As long as I have known her." Lanis's arms adjusted themselves sleepily in her arm. "It doesn't seem to be unhealthy for her, though." It had not presented any problems at all, actually. Health-related or no.
