To a nice game of memory chess. The rules are the same as regular chess, and you can use a chart if you really need to. Since I'm starting, I will play white. But first, for those who don't know, a rundown of what pieces do what, and where they are. Pawns can move one space forward, or two on their first move, and can only attack diagonally. They are on lines 7 for white and 2 for black, with each player having eight of them. Rooks are in the corner spots of the board, and can travel an unlimited number of spaces in any up/down/right/left direction. Each player has two. Knights are in spots B1 and G1, B8 and G8. They move from one corner to the diagonal corner of a 2x3 rectangle. They are the only pieces that can jump over others. Bishops are on squares C1 and F1, and C8 and F8. They move like rooks, but on diagonal lines. Queens are located on D1 and D8. They can move the same as either a Bishop or a Rook, making them the most maneuverable pieces. Kings are the point of the game, if you lose yours, you lose. They can move a single space in any of the eight directions.
Players take turns moving one piece a turn, and the player who defeats the other's king wins.
So, anyone up to the challenge?

okay this looks cool and i'm not too good at chess but i want to accept the challenge. firstly though i'm a little confused. did you move pawn to C5 or C4? i'm assuming you meant C4 because C5 would be illegal......
If that is the case (pawn to C4) then i move pawn to A5

Chess... I'm no good really though I DO find it interesting to a degree so I'll watch insted. (I'm such a nerd, I know blaugh )
Once in school, we had a free day, and a game of chess was open so some kid challanged me. Guess it means you get more than you bargain for when you end up tipping the board over, and walking off... A few other people walked over to watch and one of them kept saying "Careful Coppel, careful, she knows what she's doing" when I, since then, hadn't played chess in years. Heh. That's Karma for yah; I won and finished a drawing at the same time. mrgreen

Stormstunner Ooo chess fun!!! How come yall don't play on like yahoo or something. It's free and you can finish a game quickly. Then again I guess there is the time issue. I will play you after you finish this game 3nodding Gaia has free chess too, and this is a lot better. Having to keep track of all the pieces in your mind makes it a much better tool in learning and concentration. Seeing all the pieces on the board makes deciding where to move not as much of a challenge. Memory games like this, in my mind at least, are much better than their physical counterparts. But sure, once this game is done, I'll face you. Or, if nobody else would be too confused, I'll start a second game with you now, and make both moves at the same time or something. Interested?

i think your knight is on C3 and can only go to either D5 or B5 if you are going to move him in that direction.
