So, I had this idea to mail e.e. cummings poems to a bunch of different people that I picked randomly or for various reasons. I sent one to a guy I like, hoping it would make his day and thinking nothing would come of it. Well, I was completely surprised when he wrote a facebook note about it, saying how he really enjoyed the beautiful literature and wanted to thank whoever sent it in person. When I had sent it, my original plan was to remain anonymous. I sent him another note, saying how I was glad he enjoyed but, I did want to remain anonymous, at least for a while. Then he edited his note, adding how he was really interested in where this was going and that "whoever's out there, you have my attention." heart Now, it's killing me. I'm so happy yet, so hesitant. I want to tell him. It's almost too much like a fairytale and I don't want to ruin it but, isn't anything possible?

Unfortunately, just when I thought it was going somewhere, he developed a girlfriend. Fortunately for me, I had at least remained anonymous.

"A mighty pain to love it is, And 'tis a pain that pain to miss; But of all pains, the greatest pain It is to love, but love in vain." Abraham Cowley
I would not 'drop' it with him as you never know when his girlfriend could just be a fling...

I don't think they are just a fling. But, I'm happy for them, they're so cute together. I've moved on. There's someone else. But, as Guy de Maupassant once wrote " ' Perhaps it is not men we love, but love itself.' " Maybe I didn't like him as much as I thought. Maybe I just wanted to have someone to like until someone I really like came along.
