Okay, so maybe hate is a strong word.. But still:

I work at a shoe store in the mall, and on Sundays the mall closes at 5 PM. Well for once, I'm NOT supposed to work Sundays (AND I haven't had a day off in 3 weeks). We made about 4 announcements SAYING we were closed, and this friggin' couple stays in until 5:30 PM!!! It took us 45 minutes to clean a TINY store because people are STUPID and DON'T PUT STUFF AWAY!

What really pisses me off is that I *KNOW* that if we did something like that where they work, they would get ticked off. So what gives them the right to do that in our store? And I'm sick and tired of people not listening when we say "ITEM PRICED AS MARKED". No, it's not 30% off the plexi price, it's 30% off the box price. Also, they don't read where it says "Item priced as marked" and get ticked off when it's not as cheap as they expected it. Well too bad, because that's about the cheapest your going to get it. And yes, if there is a dot with a price on it, IT'S THAT PRICE. Half the time, there aren't prices anywhere else on the boxes!

Somebody come take me away?

C'est la vie when you work in retail. Cato is supposed to close at 9pm, but when I worked there once there was a woman in there until 9:15 with her daughter (who was very young, mind you). Oh, and do some of the customers say that you have an attitude problem when you don't say what they want to hear? They did that to me a LOT. I hated it. stressed It's times like these that I'm GLAD I don't work there anymore.

My last day there is Wednesday, and I honestly don't think I'll be able to stand it. I am at the point where I'm crying just thinking about work. I cried myself to sleep last night, woke up this morning, and just thinking about work is making me cry. I cannot do this anymore.

Oooh, how I miss getting glares and grumblings from customers who expect me to cater to their wants. rolleyes

I used to work at a gas station and we had one guy who had put his regular drink in a slurpy cup and got upset because I charged him the slurpy price. It's a store policy to price drinks by the cup they're in, not what beverage it is. And it's no one else's fault but his own that he used the wrong cup. It's easy to figure out that the cups on the side of the slurpy machine are not meant for fountain drinks.

Oh, and I also recall a time when I worked at a gift shop. Even with the power out, we'd still get people who didn't understand why we were closed down. Apparently they didn't get the concept that our registers wouldn't work without electricity.

I have many many more stories. Ask and I will tell mrgreen

There are customers none more stupid than the ones on their vacation.
It would get especially frustrating when Spanish speakers thought for some reason if they spoke Spanish a little slower, I'd magically understand them.

Or, if they speak Spanish and assume that the workers at our store wouldn't be able to understand a word they were saying. Gracias a Díos para 5 años de español xd

O.O I'm amazed that I understood that. "Thank God you took five years of Spanish." Something like that anyways. Gratias ago Deus ego sono Latin carmen.

Well, I do have to agree with kittylin that people are stupid when on vacation. We'd get tour buses of Japanese folks who would wait until the last possible moment to get their souvenirs from the gift shop, then get all antsy and frustrated that we couldn't ring them up faster. It would, of course, be our fault if they got left behind. >.>

Um..another time I had a guy come in ask me "Why is it that when you go to the Grand Canyon, you look down into the canyon, but at Zion (where I was working) you look up?" I couldn't think of any other answer but "Because that's where they put the road?" He couldn't believe me stare

We would also be asked "Why aren't the deer out yet? They were out by around this time at night last year."

Or my personal favorite was the woman from New York who got really rude with me and wanted me to stop searching for a t-shirt for another woman and ring her up right then because "the other line has a dozen people in it." It only had six and half of them were together anyway.

Those are the ones I can remember right now. I might think of more later, though. razz

And even though I'm not loving my current job, I'm soo glad I don't have to work with customers. I seriously wish I could be the girl who gives smart-a remarks to their questions and one of these days I might just do so and lose my job because of it XD
