I've actually been thinking of downloading some Sonic Youth songs but I keep forgetting razz Plus I have no room on my comp sad I'll try to buy an album someday when I have money. I've heard some clips of their songs when they were on a VH1 countdown though hehe
I've never heard of Yo La Tango, but I'll look into them smile

As I said, get Sister or if you want something noisier/artsy-er get Daydream Nation. Both are essential.
For YLT, get And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out or Electr-O-Pura.

Just had a listen to Yo La Tengo, hadnt heard them before they sound pretty good, always looking for new tunes.
anyone like The Pixies or Mclusky?

I listened to Sonic Youth once, and decided they were pretty sweet. (But it was a Within You Without You cover, it was a reaaaally good one too!)
Didn't know they were VU influenced, but I'm not suprised.
Did you know that Nirvana was influenced by the VU?
It might not show directally in their music, but I know they were fans.
I have a cover of Here She Comes Now by them, its off a box set

Yo La Tengo is a great band, never really listened to Sonic Youth though...
I've heard good things about em, so I suppose I'll have to look 'em up.

You guys should also check out the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, their first two albums have a very velvet underground vibe to them.
