but I'm not sure what to think of it. I mean, prior, I knew nothing of Edie and very little of Andy. The movie made him seem horrible, and make Edie look like a victem, which I feel she might have been, but, I also feel they made Andy seem horrible.
I dunno, I think it was worth seeing, it was a good enough movie.

I'm not exactly sure if Edie was a victim of it all or not. I mean...she did sorta go into it almost voluntarily...though in the end you'd think she was. Andy WAS an a*****e but I don't think he ever really, really meant to hurt Edie that much. She was already into drugs and such before she met Andy, I believe. And drugs were a major part of her problems. I would only consider her completely a victim of Andy's if he were the one to get her fully into drugs. Yano what I mean? She also didn't have the greatest life BEFORE him either D:

thats true. but they sure went out of their way to make Andy Warhol look like an a*****e, and like it was his fault she was in the gutter. Even though hes part of how she was on drugs, I still can't blame him. Hes just doing his job, and she hurt him with the whole Bob Dylan thing, even though he was creul about it. Unless the movie just made him seem creuler..
HMM.

Well, the Bob Dylan thing wasn't exactly her fault, I'm on Edie's side with that thing. Andy was a gay man, basically. So...Edie probably didn't think he'd care if she had a CRUSH <<< not a relationship but a CRUSH on another man. Really that whole thing was between Edie and Bob, not Andy and Andy had no right to just be all like "YOU KNOW HE GOT MARRIED" sad

As far as Edie goes, I love her. Really, I think she was a gorgeous girl. However...I'm gonna have to go against you guys on this.
Edie was a pre-Paris Hilton. She was born rich as a king (or a princess in her case); her entire family history was rich. She had horses and she'd spend most of her days with them in the mountains. Not exactly what I'd call a rough life. OH BUT RIGHT, she was crazy. Silly me, forgot that. Her dad had been though several serious anxiety attacks, and during his final visit at the psych office he was told not to have children, because chances are, they'd be as bad or worse as him. Oh, and then he had eight. Edie was institutionalized several times in California for severe anorexia and bulemic problems. They never helped, because they didn't force her to do anything. She stayed under 90 pounds, the pysch ward was the most expensive, and was essentially a live-in country club.
When she came to New York she was adored by everyone and she met Andy through Chuck Wein. She hung out with Andy, she was in some of his films, but that was only for a few months before she left the factory. Towards Bayer Heroin, Edie was not actually into drugs before she met Andy. She got into the drug scene thanks to the Andy and the factory. She was under the impression that Andy was making more money from the films than he actually was, thanks to Bob Neuwirth. That's when Andy started to get tired of her, because she started to demand money from him that she wasn't owed. The "oh did you know Bob's married?" comment was an off-hand comment during an argument that she started. It wasn't a big deal like they make it out to be. Dylan and her were never in a relationship. In fact, there are only two men who can be proven that Edie ever even had an affair with. One was Bob Neuwirth, and the other was a man she met during her first hospital stay. She had both of their abortions.
Anyway. I mean, I adore Edie. I adore Andy. I don't like Bob Dylan, but it was not his fault. It was the fact that she was not mentally stable from birth.
I love crazies. I really hope I go schizo when I get older.

haha, wow, I enjoyed reading that. crazy people are fun, I was actually imagining what life would be like if i were a schitzo today.. (but I had a couple hours in the car to sit and think about nothing).
hmm, seeing as I pretty much know nothing about Edie's life, (I came here for the VU part of the guild haha), I'm gonna figure your right, since your story is really believable.
shes the kinda girl I'd like to have met, just cuz she brings that crazy kinda drama thats so much fun to have around sometimes

Andy wasn't completely at fault for Edie being all ******** up. I mean, he and the other people at the Factory was how she got into the whole drug thing, but before that she already had some serious emotional damage. She had struggled with eating disorders, walked in on her father during an affair whom she had a love/hate relationship with and was put in several institutions, and apparently went through some abuse as a child, recieved shock thereapy, etc... The poor thing had to go through at least 2 abortions and had lost a few people who were very close to her. I feel really sorry for her. That she and Michael Post never even had any kids. I read Edie: An American Biography. It got really depressing at the end. Andy seemed like an a**, but I don't think he was that bad. It seems like most of Edie's damage occurred before/after the Factory days.

Yeah, I'm sure Andy wasn't exactally supportive of her, but I don't think anyone can blame Andy. He was just an artist, trying to find good friends, and who wants to hang around someone as un-stable as Edie?
but she did seem liek she'd be fun to have around for a while, and even after I'd pity the soul.. <33

See, I think Andy was an a*****e. But, in the way that every single frustrated gay man is. And he was an artist, so that accounts for some of it. He was a bitchie gay man...most are. Edie wasn't totally innocent, though. She was a druggie.
